Anyone know a way for paint to stay on the DA kneepads so it doesn't peel off?

Can't even get to that stage without it already peeling off. I've got a circle cut out that I was gonna use to do the Cubs logo on Punk's kneepads but when I take the stencil off, it takes the paint with it, no matter how many coats.

So I've been dealing with this frustrating problem for quite a while now. For some odd reason, 75% of the time I try painting over any part of a figure, the paint won't go on solid. When I use a paint brush to smooth the paint out, the brush just wipes the paint away and the color underneath bleeds through the paint. It almost seems as if the paint I'm applying onto the surface is too watered down to produce a solid color, but I've tried using a completely dry brush with fresh paint straight out of the bottle and have gotten the same results. To solve this in the past, I have just applied a million coats of paint to the figure, which in the end, obviously caused major issues with sealing the figure properly, let alone moving the joints without the paint cracking. Not only that, but different parts of the figure had different shades of the color of paint I applied, which looked pretty hideous...
I'm using Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint by the way.
Could this problem have anything to do with me trying to paint over a surface that's darker than the shade of paint I'm using? For example, if I went to paint yellow over a black surface, would it be best to paint over the black with white before going over it with yellow?
For instance, I have a pair of tights drying right now that look horrible. I simply applied a coat of blue paint to the surface, and for some reason the original designs and paint that were originally on the tights are bleeding through the coat of paint I applied over them.

Can anyone help me with my problem above? I'm sure I'd have it solved by now if Pope Krill wouldn't have closed the thread I made where I was getting lots of help....

Can anyone help me with my problem above? I'm sure I'd have it solved by now if Pope Krill wouldn't have closed the thread I made where I was getting lots of help.... Well let's give this a shot.. Personally, I enjoy using Testors acrylic paints. I purchased 2 bottles of that Delta Ceramcoat paint and to be honest I didn't like the results. It just seemed too "watered down". Plus the finish was too bland for my personal taste. Watering down or thinning the paint is the way to go if you want a nice clean paint job with out any "chunkiness" Testors is great for that because it is already watered down..well so it seams. It dries quicker and it leaves a nice finish. Now what you should do is start off by painting the dark areas with a primer color. White or grey if you want nice bright colors. It will help the color stand out more.

It will help the color stand out more. Thanks a lot for the reply. So for instance, it's common for people to go over a pair of black tights first with a lighter color such as white, and to then apply the color of their choosing over that coat? I've just been worried about the paint cracking because of the amount of layers being applied to the figure. I've tried doing this before though, and I do agree with the color on top standing out more after white being painted underneath it, the results a lot better. In regards to Testors, I've had some bad luck with Testors in the past, particularly with their enamel paint. I've tried to avoid them as much as possible after dealing with their enamel paint, since enamel paint is really bad for figures to begin with. It's impossible to remove, it leaves the paint really sticky, and also leaves a glossy finish to the paint job (rather than a dull look as acrylic paint leaves). I've also experimented with some of their acrylic paint and it seemed to give me the exact same result as the enamel paint did, in the sense that the paint is impossible to remove, is sticky, and has a glossy finish to it. So I'm not sure if Testors just puts a weird ingredient in their paint or what....

This is probably the easiest brand to get without going to an automotive supply house. You spray it on and apply your paint while the adhesion promoter is still wet. It allows the paint to "Bite" or melt into the plastic making it stable. If it's not done right though, it's pointless. The other option is to sand the plastic with about a 600 grit sandpaper first. Next, you would just spray whatever paint you have onto the memory card. You could also follow it up with a sealer or clear coat. Just make sure you keep the layers thin. Krylon or whatever would be fine. Once again though, keep it light. Don't play around with the Krylon Fusion because it sucks. Another option is to use a vinyl spray like this. It's formulated to use on automotive interior parts but once again, it's only as strong as the base that you're applying it to. It's all in the prep work so make sure the surface is really clean. Just wipe it down with rubbing alcohol after you sand the card. --------------------------> Whatever you decide to do....TEST in on a similar plastic first. Especially with the adhesion promoter so that you get a feel for the process.

ALWAYS use Tamiya Color paints. ALWAYS. You can get them at any of your local craft stores, but not the walgreens, rite aids, walmarts, or targets. You can only buy them at craft stores. They cost about $4 a bottle that is about the size of a bottle cap, and the height of your thumb. Pretty expensive, but better than Testors. Never heard of that. Thanks yo. Testors are like a buck for a little jar. ok I just bought some tamiya paints...just qanted to know how i can make my model that i am painting more durable...i know acryliics dont really harden aswell as enamel so what can i use to seal the acryillic so its more durable and not easliy chipped....also when making 2nd or 3rd coats should i use a sealer or spray laquer between each coat?
