So I had the urge to watch some of his matches this weekend. I quite enjoyed many of them. As a kid growing up I really liked Shamrock then I remember a cage match with Jericho then he was gone. Although he was only in WWE for like 3 years he accomplished a lot from Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion, King of the Ring as well as bringing in new matches like the Lions Den match. He was also primed for the WWF Title prior to the Montreal Screwjob. Anyway what did you guys think of the "World's most dangerous man" and what were you guys's favourite match of his?

I liked Shamrock and he was really over in 1997/1998 as a face. He was legit scary when he "snapped" and everybody ate that up. He definitely could have been WWF Champion had they given him the chance.
His only downfall was promos. He was dreadful on the mic. Truly one of the worst talkers in wrestling history. Although his robot-like delivery was quite comical.

I liked him and I think he was used correctly by WWE. Shamrock brought an intimidating aura with him and he became a great worker. I was a UFC fan from the early days and I liked that Shammy's transition slapped the "wrestlers can't really fight" crowd directly in the face. Some of them bring lethal backgrounds to entertainment.
On the flip side, his charisma was lacking as was that of Severn and Blackman. Those guys made you realize just how important the performer/acting side of the wrestling biz is. That's why he never became a main eventer but he was memorable nonetheless.

I loved Shamrock, still do, his unique moveset and style was awesome. He wasn't quite a technical marvel, yet he wasn't a total brawler and as time went on he became alot more on the technical side, which is why I believe he had some of the best matches of 99. I also believe that Bret would have willingly dropped the belt to him if the MSJ hadn't of happened. I remember reading about Bret wanting to put Ken over, and have him be a new face for the company, sadly he didn't get that far.

He was awful on the mic but I enjoyed his matches, he always gave you the impression that anything could happen in one of his matches.

Loved Shamrock.
I would have ate up a Shamrock vs "wrestling machine persona"Kurt Angle.
oh man would that have rocked.

I can understand Vince being wary of Shammy's shortcomings but if Shammy could have defeated Bret then lost the belt to HBK shortly thereafter, it would have saved Vince a MONUMENTAL headache with the MSJ.

I loved Shamrock. He really picked up pro-wrestling with no problems. I was disappointed when he left, but I thought for sure he'd have came back. Shame, cause I think he'd have been a great champion.

His main problem was that his voice didn't sound as if it had broken.

He was extremely over when he was a face, and I think he should've held the WWF title, at least once, but IMO, taking about overness, when he became a heel and joined the Corporation, his career was over.

Shame, cause I think he'd have been a great champion. He started out as a pro wrestler, in the NWA. As for me, I liked him, he and The Big Bossman were (IMO) great tag champs and a good addition to the Corporation. Obviously KOTR '98 is remembered for the HIAC match, but I still fondly remember the KOTR final between Shamrock and The Rock, a pretty good match for what it was. The chairshot to the face he took from The Rock is something I'll never forget either. Shamrock is a legend of MMA, no question, and his time in WWE was good, but as already said, his promo skills let him down, despite his talent in the ring.

I firmly believe that if he were paired with a manager who could talk for him, sort of like Lesnar being paired with Heyman in '02, then he could have prospered as World Champion.

he was awesome as a force, i loved how he'd clear the entire ring with his belly to bellys
his feud with the rock was great too - taking that chairshot to the head. now that wouldn't happen today. haha

One thing I'll never forget is that super stiff Dungeon Match that he an Owen had. With no crowd in that relatively small room, you could really tell how hard those guys were going at it. Very stiff. Very intense.

This guy was great IMO but his big downfall was his bad promos. He couldn't talk but that didn't matter to me. His character was about kicking ass. He didn't need to talk. Had he stayed w/ the WWF longer, I firmly believe that he would have one day held the world title and have had a similar title reign as Chris Benoit did.
