I've fought Frank Mir like 5 times, soft resetting each time because he's beat me by bs broken game. Each time, he puts me into a standing clinch, pulls me into the dominant position, then pushes me off. He then bum rushes me, sweeps me down, locks me in an arm bar, and immediately taps me out. EVERY FIGHT. no matter how I fight. That is how the fight ends.
Mir also instantly taps out Lesnar and Mintaro Nogeuria with no effort, so it's not just my CAW

How do you unlock the Locked Fighters/Refs. My friend got this game and he was wondering what mode you were able to unlock this stuff in.
Appreciate any help.

I've just limited myself to playing exibitions, title mode, event mode, and Ultimate Fights. Yeah the subs are a pain, but much like Sean, I've been able to be pleased with the game. It's certainly not unplayable as many suggest.
I'm at the same point in this game that I was with Fight Night Round 4. When they completely stripped the button punches and the game was almost impossible to be in your TOTAL control. I kept playing, but not alot. I'm just going to keep playing it sporadically until they relsease a patch so I can enjoy the game to it's fully potential.
I'd rather play half of an awesome game than rip my hair out over the entire broken one.

People are exaggerating the issues BADLY. The ones bitching about connection issues online crack me up the most. It's like the game is ing useless without it. Here's a thought, if you really NEED to play against someone else that bad, get some actual friends and invite them over. HOLY CRAP! What a novel idea right? Now, I could be wrong, but I think that is how they used to do it back in the stone age. I mean, that was all the way back in, like, 2000!

Haven't played the game in a few days but plan to play some later today. Sucks I can't get anybody to tap to a submission but I'm getting better at escaping them which will be very useful..

I'm like 28-1 in career mode, with my only loss coming from a title for title fight against Frank Mir, who was out of my division and had like a 25 pound weight advantage. I soft reset like 10 times on Mir to try to beat him, but with the game's signature "screw you submission (c)" system, Mir was unbeatable. I was able to score the Knockout of the Year on Rashad Evans, and in the process got the Kay Tee Eff Oh achievement. It was quite a brutal knockout.

Got to 11/12 last night in Title Defense mode, but had to head out before I could start the last fight. Maybe tonight before RAW. I was clearing people right and left, so it shouldn't take me too long. Counter Punch, then slam. Knees and punches, then mount. Punches, then posture up. Literally takes me about 4 mins of the first round to finish.
I'm becoming a big fan of side control, because the fighters I typically use are able to hook around and connect with punches, while kneeing in the side, which does a pretty good number on their stamina.
While I do feel thankful that I've been able to find ways to enjoy the game outside of it's flaws, I do welcome any update to the submission system. I can survive and even make people tap, but more control or an idea of what to do would be nice.

I got the "Disrespecting a fighter" trophy for taunting like a mofo with Anderson Silva. I was being all kinds of a dick over the weekend with it and I think it was the taunt (where Anderson drops his fists and bobs his head right and left) followed by the jab knock out that got me the trophy.
I really don't have any advice for fighting Mir, as my guy is a light heavyweight just starting in the UFC. However, from my experience with him in Title Mode and exhibition, all I can suggest is sprawling. Anytime he's come charging towards me, I'd try to either sidestep with a lower punch into the face, knee into the face if the timing is right, or sprawl with him as he attempts the takedown. Sprawling seemed to work the best with Lesnar, in my opinion, and allowed me to get a mount fairly quick. Sprawl on the ground, spin around his back, flatten him out.

I see the point you are making, but to be fair, that is under the assumption that the friend lives far enough away that it would take that much gas, and the friend doesn't know how to play.
The majority of my friends either have the demo, owned last year's game, or own this year's game, so that really wouldn't apply as a fair statement.
Once again, on the flip side, others may have very little friends that enjoy UFC and play the game.

Sorry if this has been talked about but do the cheat codes not work for anyone else?

Craziest damn thing, I did not pay $50 for live, in fact I have never played a game online against anyone, ever, and I still enjoy the HELL out of games. Game works just fine to me. You guys need to quit acting like online is a REQUIREMENT to enjoy games, because it isn't. It's just a neat little feature they have put in games as a bonus. That's all it really is.

You guys need to quit acting like online is a REQUIREMENT to enjoy games, because it isn't. It's just a neat little feature they have put in games as a bonus. That's all it really is. Maybe in the 90's and early 2000's, bro. Not meant to insult you or anything, but your logic is ridiculously out-dated. For certain genres, online has emerged as one of the major factors resulting in a game's purchase. To hide behind the "invite friends over" approach is the gamer equivalent of "get off my lawn". It's elitist and baseless, you simply can't sweep the entire online thing under the rug now that it's become so mammoth. Just like the days of the arcade mostly being over and done with, the days of inviting friends over to play games are mostly done with too. Just learn to live with it. It's wrong to judge a game solely based on its online experience, I get that. You're talking to a guy that lives and breathes single-player RPG's. But in games where online should and ARE a focus, like FPS's and sports games, bad online is rightfully criticized and held against the game. It's the same as a game having bad physics, weak graphics, poor AI, etc. etc. If one of the main selling points behind a game fails to deliver, the fans who paid their money to play it have a right to complain. It'd be like telling people not to complain about a game having horrible controls because you were around during the Atari days. You have a small point, but it's not nearly big enough to overshadow the original complaint. Just like we've come to expect good controls out of a game where accurately controlling your character is important to fully enjoy the game, we've come to expect good online in sports games and FPS's. It's not true for all genres, but for some, online is right up there with graphics, gameplay, music, story, etc. as the major factors you judge a game by. That said, I've gone back to playing Mass Effect for a bit. I stand by the whole love/hate relationship I have with this game, when it works, it's a fantastic experience, when it doesn't, it's incredibly frustrating. I'll probably come back to it eventually to finish out career mode and of course stay active in MFWF.

I saw the game reviewed on 'Good Game' which got 8/10. My brother's CAF is now headed to retirement, which sucks as we thought at least you'd be able to max out more stats...obviously not. I figured I'd try the Tournament mode as a light heavyweight, with 16 men. As Chuck Liddell, I beat Soszynski, then for some reason, could choose to be someone else. So I went as Rampage, and beat Bisping by KO, then again, could choose to be someone else. I went as Wanderlei, and decided to stay as him, defeating Belfort, Griffin, and oddly, Soszynski and Bisping AGAIN. What kind of ed up tournament is this? All this was done by KO, and there was no ground game involved. As soon as I got to Anderson Silva, oh man...He beat me 10 times, by either instant submission, or slack-ass knees in the clinch, but overall, just like the actual Anderson Silva, would constantly wait for me to strike first so he could sway and counter. I'm not putting this in here to further rubbish the game, like Sean said, 'to each their own', but I'm can now say that I'll play it VERY sparingly now...until I trade it in.
