WWE SmackDown: Friday 25th December 2009...A good opening contest to boost interest in the product on Christmas night; a fine match and a predictable win for Randy Orton over Tyler Black; decent idea for you to break Black away from John Morrison this time. I like that. Edge's promo was pretty fine; looking forward to this steel cage match next week, on New Year's Day. I love these big main events you're pumping out around this time of year; very appropriate since ratings for this show and next week's show will definitely be low. AJ Lee is somebody I'm not sold on yet at all. You're building her like she's SmackDown's Serena Mancini and she's basically a complete copy of Serena. Fair win for Lee and Gail Kim to beat Maryse and Michelle McCool though I guess. I hope Lee isn't WWE Divas Champion for a LONG time. There are much more deserving divas in the company. Big entertaining first-hour main event with Edge and Jeff Hardy facing off in a great match. Speaking of great matches; Match of the Year revealed soon? Woo, I hope you do that in a poll, because there's been so many above-four star matches. Ah, Paul London and Brian Kendrick finally winning the WWE Tag Team Championships. Well executed; fine win for London and Kendrick against the New Hart Foundation. The Foundation had a good run anyways. Next, big win for Kofi Kingston in a Royal Rumble qualifying bout; John Morrison doesn't need this and I can tell he'll be facing Tyler Black at the Royal Rumble anyway. Lastly, a likely World Heavyweight Championship defense by Shelton Benjamin over Chris Jericho in a good main event. A great show really; I'd have tuned in to watch - on Christmas.

SmackDown, pretty obvious victory for Rany Orton here, wouldn't have made sense for him not to be in the Rumble when he isn't scheduled for another match. Great match made there, can't wait for the Steel Cage match. Can't say I'm interested in the Diva division at the moment. Sheamus versus Finlay should be great. Happy to see Edge win here, especially via Orton interference. As predicted, Londrick take the gold, it was coming sooner or later. Glad that Kingston qualified for the Rumble, and with Orton beating Black earlier, I sense another match in the Morrison/Black series at the Rumble. So happy that Shelton retained the gold, definitely needs a good reign. This victory definitely added to his credibility which is slowly building. Benjamin versus Punk at the Rumble should be great, and I hope to see Benjamin keep the belt. Great SmackDown.

I like the idea of a new Brood on ECW, though I think a different name should have been used if Gangrel isnt involved. London and Kendrick winning the titles was surprising. Benjamin/Punk at Rumble should be great, as well as the Rumble itself.

Raw 12/28/09 Preview-The final Raw of 2009 is shaping up to be a big one as we have a great main event in store. "The Animal" Batista will go one on one with the "Fortunate Son" Ted Dibiase Jr. Dibiase scored the biggest win of his young career last week when he defeated John Cena in the middle of the ring. Now, he has a chance to pick up a second straight huge win as he takes on the number one contender for the WWE Championship. Speaking of the WWE Title, current Champion Triple H is sure to have a close eye on this one as he prepares for his match against Batista at the Royal Rumble. -Last week, MVP and Kane were given spots in the Royal Rumble after their hard fought main event match the week before. That ended in a double count out, so nothing was settled. They'll have a chance to settle it tonight when they face off one more time. The two former WWE Champions will do everything they can to get the win and gain some momentum heading into the Rumble, where both guys are favorites to win. -With the Royal Rumble right around the corner, more qualifying matches will take place tonight. Each brand will have ten superstars in the Rumble match and Raw already has five competitors. It will gain two more tonight when Sean Morley goes one on one with John Cena and Elijah Burke takes on Scotty Goldman. Goldman had a solid showing in last year's Rumble, while Burke lasted 39 minutes last year. Morley hasn't been in the Rumble in a few years but he's become a viable threat as of late. And the last two times Cena was in the Rumble, in 2008 & 2005, he either won or was the last Superstar eliminated. Which two of these four will advance and take the first step on the Road to WrestleMania? Tune in tonight at 9:00PM on the USA Network for all the answers and more!

The opening video package for tonight’s Raw consists of Ted Dibiase Jr.’s big victory over John Cena last week and the actions between Batista and Triple H during the six man tag.Jerry “The King” Lawler and Michael Cole introduce the WWE Universe to tonight’s sold out show. They promote the main event between Batista and Ted Dibiase Jr. tonight as well as a big match involving MVP and Kane. Plus, we will also witness two more Royal Rumble qualifying matches. We go straight to the ring for our opening contest.Singles Match [Royal Rumble Qualifier] John Cena vs. Sean MorleyJust seeing Cena got the crowd pumped for this opener and it was pretty obvious from the start that this was going to be one sided. Morley did manage to get in a decent amount of offense and surprised everybody when he climbed atop to hit the Money Shot. Cena was up quickly though and knocked him down into a seated position atop the turnbuckle. From there he took Morley and dropped him with the FU. Winner: John Cena (5:29) **¼The cameras cut to the back where Eric Bischoff is watching on a monitor. He looks on in disappointment and mutters something about Morley wasting an opportunity.
We now see the WWE Champion Triple H walking towards the arena in a suit, with the title draped over his shoulder.Commercial Break.Triple H makes his way down to the ring to some massive heat. He begins to speak, starting with the Slammy Awards. He calls it a travesty that he wasn’t nominated for Superstar of the Year when he’s the current WWE Champion. He says that while he was upset at that, he didn’t let it bother him too much because again, he is the WWE Champion, which means more to him. The WWE Title that he has worked so hard to regain and now that he has it again, he has no plans on letting it go anytime soon. Especially to somebody like Batista. He claims that Batista is his project, a man that he molded into a star. Without him, Batista would be nobody right now and he needs to learn that. He admits that Batista beat him the first three times they faced each other, but this past year Triple H beat him twice. At the Royal Rumble he promises to even the score and prove once and for all that the teacher will always best the student. Commercial Break.
Women’s Tag Team Match Beth Phoenix & Serena Mancini vs. Melina & Women’s Champion Mickie JamesThis was your basic women’s tag match. It was kept rather short despite having four of the top women on the roster. James and Mancini were the focal point of the match as they were involved in the action for the most part. In the end though, it was the Mancini Code on Melina that did the trick. Winners: Beth Phoenix & Serena Mancini (4:23) **As James was checking on Melina post match, Mancini entered the ring and was geared up for a sneak attack. James saw it coming on the titantron and met Mancini with the Mick Kick before any damage could be done.We now go to Angela Fong in the back, standing by with MVP. She asks about his big match with Kane, which is coming up next. MVP says that when they went to a double count out a few weeks back, it showed that both guys wanted a victory and a chance for a WWE Title match badly. He feels that even with both guys getting into the Royal Rumble that he can expect the same from Kane tonight.Commercial Break.Josh Matthews is standing by with Evan Bourne. He asks Bourne about the Intercontinental Title picture involving himself, the Champion Kaval, Elijah Burke and Sean Morley. Bourne says that a few weeks back, the number one contender’s match was ruined by Morley and in his opinion; it isn’t fair that Morley is involved in this. But if Eric Bischoff wants to have his buddy in the title picture then they should have a Triple Threat match to determine the number one contender.
Bischoff is now seen in his office watching Bourne’s interview on the monitor. He looks on intently and says that is a pretty good idea. I guess this means we have a Triple Threat match next week!
A promo for the Royal Rumble is now shown before we head to commercial.Commercial Break.
Singles Match Kane w/ Paul Bearer vs. MVPJust like two weeks ago, these guys managed to put on a very good match. Kane was in control in the early stages as he used his power to gain an advantage. MVP fought back and rallied behind the crowd to take over. He nailed Kane with the Playmaker but only got a near fall. He now was gearing up for the Drive-By, but Kaval ran down and nailed him from behind. Winner via Disqualification: MVP (9:48) **¾After the match Kane hit MVP with a Tombstone, which Kaval followed by hitting the Warrior’s Way off the top. The Kane/Kaval alliance left MVP laid out in the middle of the ring.Commercial Break.Legacy is shown in their locker room as we return. Ted Dibiase is pumping them up saying that they were the rightful winners of the Tag Team Tournament and they will prove it tonight when they win the belts back. And he guarantees to continue his streak of huge victories by beating Batista in tonight’s main event. He tells Rhodes and Hennig to get them started on the right track now.World Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way Perfectly Awesome (c) w/ Alicia Fox vs. The British Alliance w/ Katie Lea Burchill & Layla London vs. Legacy vs. Tommy Dreamer & Bryan DanielsonTonight’s show stealer was none other than this battle. It was given the most time of any match and featured a lot of back and forth action. No team showed a clear cut advantage either. The Miz had the match wrapped up after hitting Danielson with the Skull Crushing Finale. Instead of getting the pin though, he show boated to the crowd. When he finally went for the cover, it was broken up. That led to a big brawl on the outside between all the participants. The Miz sent Danielson off the ropes and Burchill tagged him on the back. Danielson hit Miz with a German suplex and locked in the Cattle Mutilation. Miz tapped out but the referee informed Danielson that he wasn’t the legal man anymore. As Danielson broke the hold, Burchill ran in and tossed him to the outside. He then hit Miz with the Curb Stomp and got the victory. Winners and NEW World Tag Team Champions: The British Alliance (13:29) ***¼
Commercial Break. In the back, the British Alliance is shown celebrating their Title victory along with their valets. Perfectly Awesome is shown walking by and they are arguing about the loss tonight. Ziggler seems to be blaming Miz and Alicia Fox is trying to keep the peace.Singles Match [Royal Rumble Qualifier] Elijah Burke vs. Scotty Goldman w/ Ace SteelGoldman managed to get in some offense, but this wasn’t too competitive to be honest. Burke did most of the damage and managed to pull away with the win after nailing the Outer Limits Elbow Drop. Winner: Elijah Burke (5:02) **¼Batista is shown walking towards the arena as he prepares for the main event, which is next!Commercial Break.
Singles Match Batista vs. Ted Dibiase Jr.Once again, Dibiase showed that he belongs with the top tier superstars in the WWE. Batista dominated the opening sequences of the match but Ted showed resiliency. He fought back against the crowd’s wishes and began to hold serve. He locked Batista in the Million Dollar Dream but “The Animal” backed Ted into the corner. It caused him to break the hold. Batista then turned and drilled him with the Batista Bomb to pick up the win. Winner: Batista (10:08) **¾After the match, Batista celebrated on the top rope along with the crowd. Before he could finish, Triple H rushed to the ring and nailed him in the back of the head with the WWE Title. He placed the belt on the mat and hit Batista with a Pedigree onto it. “The Game” posed with the WWE Title as the show went off the air. © WWE 2009

WWE RAW: Monday 28th December 2009...Alright, final edition of RAW in 2009, interested in what embarks us. I do wonder if Bret Hart will ever make another appearance on television. It would be pretty interesting to see how you use him; though there's nothing original to do with him than what occured in real life. John Cena in the opening contest basically wrecked Sean Morley. Not that great a match, and to be honest this has to be the shortest match you've had on RAW in months. Seriously; in addition there isn't that much for Morley to do anymore and it is now acceptable to see him get released in the next few weeks or months, to be honest. He has no value anymore to me. Cena in the Royal Rumble is obvious, but I hope not to see him win it. Decent promo to follow up; now I'd have had this open as that was a weak opening contest, but fine Triple H segment as he complained about the Slammy Awards, and setting up the feud with Batista for the WWE Championship. Beth Phoenix and Serena Mancini beating Melina and Mickie James is fine; Mancini's dominance attacking after the bell shows her as being a definite go-getter in the womens division and definitely one to see as WWE Womens Champion by February. Next, a decent first-hour main event with MVP taking on Kane in what was a fairly decent bout. These two have been in business against each other in the past month or so, and so this was hopefully the end of said feud. I hope to see MVP get a rematch against Triple H, since he hasn't yet since losing the WWE Championship at Armageddon. Kaval's interference though makes it seem like the feud isn't done. Every time there's a four-corner tag team match on RAW for the World Tag Team Championships, it's expected that there'll be new champs. And it happened here. Dolph Ziggler and The Miz had a good reign; hopefully they'll remain relevent, though, but the British Alliance winning this was very nice to see. I was hoping we'd see Legacy have a reign, though, as they seem very capable now. Cody Rhodes is definitely being underutilized with Joe Hennig in Legacy; both are very good workers. Hopefully they get a decent run after WrestleMania XXVI anyways. Elijah Burke beating Scotty Goldman seemed obvious. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Second City Saints get the axe in 2010, really. They only ever appear to put somebody else over, and Burke getting into the Rumble is fine but everybody knows he won't win. Another short match on this edition of RAW, I notice. Batista beating Ted Dibiase seemed necessary as he has to have momentum in the feud against Triple H. A good episode of RAW altogether and I look forward to what comes next in the build for the Rumble.

-Cena beating Morley is great. Though hope Cena can go back into main-event status. -Beth and Serena beating Melina and Mickie is good too. -MVP beating Kane via DQ is awesome. As it hypes the Kane/Kaval combination. Hope Kane and Kaval can still get into IC Title contention. -British Alliance winning the World Tag Titles is great too. Been anticipating it for awhile. -Burke beating Goldman is great. Goldman sucks! -Batista beating DiBiase is a very realistic main event. Glad Batista won. -Good RAW.

Raw, obvious victory for John Cena, not sure on this opening up though, seemed pretty lackluster. Good promo by Triple H, very realistic to his character. Good to se the heels go over, but this could possibly mean that Mickie James will take the victory at the Rumble. We'll see. Surprised to see this end in DQ, but if it starts a feud, I'm all for it. Very surprised to see the British Alliance take the World Tag Team Championships, but pleased at the same time. I hope Miz and Ziggler split after that and go separate ways. Another obvious victory for Elijah Burke. And I definitely expected Batista to defeat DiBiase, being in the WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble. Good to see Triple H closing the show, and I see him defeating Batista at the Rumble. Good Raw.

- I hated the Sean Morley gimmick - Cena defeating Sean was obvious, but it was a good way to get the crowd pumped - I am really digging how you are booking the Triple H-Batista feud - The triple threat for next week should be solid - Kaval attacking MVP during his match was pretty good - This Kane/Kaval alliance is pretty interesting - I am not sure who Burchill is teaming with so I am not 100% sure how I feel about them winning the belts - Burke over Colt is fine in my book - Batista defeating Ted DiBiase is a solid main event. - I like Trips laying out Batista to close the show.

ECW 12/29/09 Preview-The final WWE broadcast of 2009 will be an exciting episode of ECW. Tonight, the finals of the Elimination Chase will take place when Kevin Thorn goes one on one with Rey Mysterio. The winner of this battle will go on to get an ECW Title shot at the Royal Rumble, where they will meet "The All-American American" Jack Swagger. Swagger is sure to have his eyes on this match. -Swagger will be in action tonight as well though. In non-title competition, the "All-American American" will step into the ring with ECW's fastest rising star, the "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson! Danielson has lit ECW on fire as of late and he will face his biggest challenge to date tonight. If Danielson can pull out an upset victory, will that put him in line for an ECW Title shot? Could he thrust himself into the title picture at the Royal Rumble? -Speaking of the Royal Rumble, ECW only has two of it's required ten superstars qualify so far. We will add three more tonight during the two qualifying matches. In one contest, Jimmy Wang Yang will take on ECW's resident "Black Cloud" Matt Hardy. In the other, the former World Tag Team Champions Perfectly Awesome, will look to rebound after last night's tough Championship loss when they take on former WWE Tag Team Champions, The Colons. This week’s ECW opens with a video package showing Matt Hardy being eliminated from the Elimination Chase, leaving only Rey Mysterio and Kevin Thorn as the final two.Todd Grisham and Byron Saxton welcome the viewers to another exciting edition of ECW. They promote that tonight’s show is headlined with Rey Mysterio taking on Kevin Thorn, with the winner going on to face Jack Swagger at the Royal Rumble for the ECW Title. Speaking of Swagger, he will take on Bryan Danielson in a non-title bout and we’ll see two Royal Rumble qualifying matches.Non-Title Match Bryan Danielson vs. ECW Champion Jack SwaggerWhat a fantastic choice for an opening contest as these two stars put on a great match. Both men showed their technical ability as they mat wrestled to start the match. Danielson held a slight advantage there so Swagger turned to his power advantage. This was given a lot of time and the finish came when Danielson nailed Swagger with a back suplex off the top. He then climbed up and went for a diving headbutt but Swagger moved. He got up before Danielson and caught him with the Gutwrench Power Bomb. Winner: ECW Champion Jack Swagger (13:27) ****
Commercial Break.Zack Ryder’s theme hits as he makes his way to the ring along with his girlfriend, Courtney. He gets right on the microphone and begins to talk about how he qualified for the Royal Rumble last week. Besides earning the spot in the Rumble, winning last week was doubly important for him because he beat The Hurricane to get there. In his opinion, that should be enough to get a Television Title shot tonight. Teddy Long’s music hits as the ECW General Manager comes out to the stage. He informs Ryder that Hurricane is not in the building tonight but next week, on the first ECW of the new decade, Ryder will get his TV Title shot. Ryder likes the sound of that as we cut to commercial. Commercial Break.Josh Matthews is standing by with Mr. Kennedy when we return. He asks Kennedy about his promo last week, where he guaranteed to win the Royal Rumble. Kennedy says that he stands by his words because he knows what he’s capable of. He says that after reigning as ECW Champion twice this year, 2010 will the year that he takes home either the WWE or World Heavyweight Title.Singles Match [Royal Rumble Qualifier] Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Matt HardyHardy was surprisingly brutal in this contest. He seemed hell bent on making it to the Royal Rumble as he tossed Yang around. Yang did manage to rally behind the crowd and went for his moonsault in the corner but Hardy dodged it. Once Yang got up, Hardy met him with a Twist of Fate to finish it. Winner: Matt Hardy (5:21) **½
Commercial Break. The Brood is now shown in a dark lit room. Kevin Thorn tells them that he appreciates the work they did while he was away and he likes that his minions were so loyal to him. He tells Hade Vansen that he has a Royal Rumble qualifying match next week and he wants Hade to make him proud. He then tells Paradox that her time to get in the ring and dominate the divas will come very soon.
A promo airs for the Royal Rumble now, with the song “Hero” by Skillet playing in the background.
Angela Fong is shown as she’s standing by with Rey Mysterio. She asks him about facing Thorn tonight and potentially facing Swagger in a month. Mysterio says that Thorn is an animal that he’s never had to face but he will go out and give it his all to get an ECW Title shot. Now Swagger is somebody that he has dealt with. He knows that he can beat him and Swagger knows it too.Commercial Break.
Tag Team Match [Royal Rumble Qualifier] The Colons vs. Perfectly Awesome w/ Alicia FoxThese two former Championship winning teams put on a good show in their attempts to make it to the Royal Rumble. Perfectly Awesome cut the ring in half and really worked over Primo with double team moves. He eventually managed to make the tag to Carlito, who came in and cleaned house. He was on fire and even hit The Miz with the Back Cracker. Before he could cover though, Ziggler nailed him with the Zig Zag. He placed Miz’s arm over Carlito and they got the three. Winners: Perfectly Awesome (9:19) **¾Primo was still down from the beating he took throughout the match so he couldn’t help Carlito and break up the count. After the match, when Primo was finally up, he started to help his brother up. Carlito pushed him away and began to yell at him, demanding to know where he was while he was getting pinned. Primo attempted to explain himself and eventually Carlito let it go. As Primo went to leave though, Carlito drilled him with a Back Stabber. The crowd booed the older Colon brother as we went to commercial.Commercial Break.
Elimination Chase Finals Kevin Thorn w/ The Brood vs. Rey MysterioJack Swagger was on commentary throughout this match. The style difference between Thorn and Mysterio seemed to clash at times but all in all, this was a decent main event. Thorn used the power advantage he had to take early control, but the resilient Mysterio fought back. In the end, Thorn set up Rey for the Original Sin. Rey fought it off and pushed Thorn away. He got on the apron and quickly spring boarded into the West Coast Pop for the win. Winner: Rey Mysterio (11:11) ***The crowd celebrated along with Rey after the match. Jack Swagger stood up at the announce table and had a stare down with Rey. He raised the belt high in the air as the show cut off.© WWE 2009 [/center]

ECW on SyFy: Tuesday 29th December 2009...Solid opening contest to kick off the final edition of ECW in the decade, Bryan Danielson definitely proved as a threat to the ECW Championship; but I hope he doesn't get to become number one contender for at least six months or so. Decent promo with Zack Ryder to follow up, basically setting the scene for a WWE Television Championship match with The Hurricane next week. Matt Hardy beating Jimmy Wang Yang was predictable; Hardy in the Royal Rumble is nice, and these qualifying matches are actually quite nice, as it gives various superstars the opportunity to shine in the Rumble in upcoming weeks, however Hardy won't be winning I know that. Dolph Ziggler and The Miz needed that win after losing the World Tag Team Championships to the British Alliance the previous evening. I'd like to see them get a rematch at some point, though. Where Ziggler and Miz go from here, with heels as champions still, should be difficult. Primo and Carlito will fight to see another day; I'd like to see them get another shot at the belts to be honest. Lastly, a very predictable main event in the Elimination Chase finalé, Rey Mysterio beating Kevin Thorn is fine. A good show overall, Mysterio against Swagger should be good at the Royal Rumble, for realistic purposes I see Mysterio winning. He's been on a massive dip and he really needs to keep doing something good. Seeing him get the ECW Championship would be a good choice. Decent show as a whole, welcome to 2010.

ECW, I would love to see Kevin Thorn get another shot to become ECW Champion, but with the Champion been Swagger, I see Mysterio taking the win. Glad that Swagger defeated Danielson here, losing would have hurt him a lot. I see Zack Ryder taking the TV TItle when he and Hurricane face off. Happy that Matt Hardy got the Rumble spot, as obvious as it was. Perfectly Awesome defeating The Colons for the Rumble spot makes sense as they have just lost the World Tag Team Championships on Raw. I like the Colon split, I hope Carlito gets pushed. As I said earlier, I expected this Mysterio victory, and him versus Swagger at the Rumble should be great. Good ECW.

1/1/10 Edition-There will only be 29 announced Superstars to qualify for the 2010 Royal Rumble. The final spot will most likely either go to a returning Superstar or a surprise one time appearance by a former star. -Speaking of the Royal Rumble, multiple names have been tossed around as potential winners. Whoever it is, the WWE feels that person has earned the right to main event WrestleMania XXVI. Early candidates to win include The Undertaker, John Cena, Randy Orton, MVP & even Ted Dibiase Jr. -Expect the Best of Seven Series for the United States Title to reach the full seven match total. This will most likely be done to extend the series until the Royal Rumble, where the final match would take place. -We are most likely witnessing the final few weeks of the Legacy. Current plans have the three members getting to drafted to separate shows, so it'll be one member per brand. With the Colons and Finlay & Sheamus recently breaking up, losing Legacy will hurt the Tag Team division. Rumors also have Perfectly Awesome being split at draft time as well. WWE does have plans to introduce new tag teams in the near future like they did with the Dudebusters.

Smackdown 1/1/10 Preview-The first show of the new decade promises to be a big one. Last week it was announced that tonight's main event would be of epic proportions as the "Rated R Superstar" Edge will take on the "Jamaican Sensation" Kofi Kingston in a Steel Cage match. These two have been at each others' throats since October when Kingston upset Edge on Smackdown. Their rivalry continued into Survivor Series and Armageddon and will culminate tonight inside a fifteen foot high Steel Cage! What will happen when these two finally end their war? -Last week, World Heavyweight Champion Shelton Benjamin defeated former Champion Chris Jericho in his first title defense. After the match, the man who Benjamin took the World Title from, CM Punk, came out with a Christmas gift for Benjamin. That gift was the announcement that he will cash in his rematch clause to face Benjamin for the World Title at the Royal Rumble. While neither man is scheduled for action tonight, they are both in the building. Will they find a way to collide tonight? -Also tonight, we will see two Royal Rumble qualifying matches. Curt Hawkins will step into the ring to take on Big Show in one qualifying match, while in the other the "Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy will go one on one with the "Masterpiece" Chris Masters. Plus, we will see Match Four in the Best of Seven Series between Tyler Black and John Morrison and a Belfast Brawl between Finlay and his nephew Sheamus and the loser of that match must leave Smackdown for good. Plus, we will hear from the new WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick! Tune into MyNetwork TV tonight at 8:00PM for all of this action and a whole lot more!

We are reminded that we will also witness two more Royal Rumble qualifying matches, match four in the Best of Seven Series and we’ll hear from the new WWE Tag Team Champions, Paul London and Brian Kendrick.“Ain’t No Stopping Me” is heard as the World Heavyweight Champion Shelton Benjamin comes to the ring, making him the first superstar we see in the new decade. He gets on the microphone and starts by talking about last week. He congratulates himself on a successful title defense, proving that he is no fluke Champion. He then moves on to the subject of former Champion, CM Punk. Benjamin reminds us all that not only did he take the World Title from Punk at Armageddon, but he’s also beaten Punk before that night even. Benjamin thinks that he should’ve been Superstar of the Year, but he understands why Punk won the award. He admits that Punk had a great 2009, but informs everybody that he was the only man to beat Punk twice on pay-per-view last year, at Judgment Day and of course, Armageddon. He plans on doing it once more at the Royal Rumble and prove that he truly is the “gold standard”. Commercial Break.Vickie Guerrero and Stephanie McMahon are shown in their office backstage. A knock is heard and in steps the number one contender, CM Punk. He tells them that he heard Benjamin’s promo a few minutes ago and he’d like to get his hands on him before the Rumble. Stephanie informs him that tonight’s show is full, but next week right here on Smackdown, Punk will team with Jeff Hardy to take on Benjamin and Randy Orton! Punk likes the sound of that as he leaves and the crowd roars in approval.Singles Match [Royal Rumble Qualifier] Chris Masters vs. Jeff Hardy [/b] The crowd was 100% behind Hardy in this one, but Masters made sure this wasn’t going to be a squash match. He used his power to work over Hardy at some points, but it proved to not be enough. In the end, he fell victim to a Swanton Bomb as Hardy qualified for the Rumble. Winner: Jeff Hardy (7:01) **¾After the match, Jeff got on the microphone and said that he can’t wait for get his hands on Randy Orton in next week’s tag match. He wants to hurt him so bad that he calls him out right now. Orton comes right out to the top of the stage with a microphone. He tells Jeff that he doesn’t get to choose when he goes out to fight him. Orton says that he’s in control of everything and he needs to learn that. Orton said he’s glad that Hardy qualified for the Royal Rumble; because he will eliminate him, then destroy him and go on to win the main event at WrestleMania. Hardy decides to leave the ring and go after Orton, but Orton retreats to the back before anything can happen.Commercial Break.
Non-Title Match Gail Kim vs. Divas Champion Maryse[/b] Kim has been trying to earn another Divas title shot against the woman who took the belt from her and she had another shot tonight. Kim was in control throughout the match, dominating at some point. She made one mistake, by missing a cross body off the top, and Maryse capitalized by nailing her with the French TKO to win. Winner: Divas Champion Maryse (5:16) **[/b] The cameras now cut to the back, once again in the office of Vickie Guerrero and Stephanie McMahon, although Vickie is the only one inside. Chris Jericho enters and tells Vickie that he feels like he was robbed last week against Shelton Benjamin and he deserves something for beating CM Punk two weeks ago. Vickie agrees and decides that his win over Punk should count as a Royal Rumble qualifying match, which means that Jericho is now a part of the Rumble! Jericho thanks her for this and walks out.Commercial Break.[/b] We return to see Josh Matthews standing by with the new WWE Tag Team Champions, Paul London and Brian Kendrick. He asks them about becoming WWE Tag Team Champions again. Kendrick says that a few months back, he felt like he was going nowhere with his career, but along came the returning Paul London to help him turn things around. London says that if feels great to be Champions again and they plan on making this Title reign even longer than their last. The New Hart Foundation comes onto the screen to interrupt. TJ Wilson tells them to enjoy their reign while it lasts because they will soon be coming for their belts again and London and Kendrick better remember that they have a rematch clause. Kendrick tells them to use it whenever they want because the Champs will be ready.Match Four in Best of Seven Series United States Champion John Morrison vs. Tyler Black[/b] Once again, these two put on a great match. They’ve managed to do it all four times they’ve faced off in this series. In this contest, Morrison was fighting for his life to make sure he didn’t fall behind 3-1. He attempted a number of pins during the match and was a step ahead of Black. In the end though, Black hooked him for God’s Last Gift, only to have Morrison block it and roll him into a small package for the win. Winner: United States Champion John Morrison (10:19) ***
Commercial Break.Angela Fong is standing by with Kofi Kingston as we return from commercial. He asks Kofi about the huge main event tonight and the fact that it may be the biggest match in his career. Kofi says that everything between himself and Edge began because he just wanted to show that the guys who never got a shot, deserve one. He went out and beat Edge that night and Edge became obsessed with returning the favor. Kofi says that it all ends tonight. Win or lose, he will be done with Edge and he’ll move on to the future of his career.Belfast Brawl [Loser Leaves Smackdown] Finlay w/ Hornswoggle vs. Sheamus[/b] As one would expect in a feud ending Belfast Brawl, this was a pure fight. There was nothing technical about this as these two brawlers just went head to head. Finlay used a few weapons, but Sheamus seemed to just want to use his pure strength. Finlay brought in the shillelagh and swung it at his nephew, but he ducked and nailed him with the Bicycle Kick. Sheamus covered but stopped himself at the count of two. He lifted his uncle and nailed him with the shillelagh. He covered and again stopped the count. Hornswoggle ran in to try and stop the abuse on his father, only to be hit with a Crucifix Bomb. Sheamus then pinned his uncle to end it. Winner: Sheamus (9:47) **½
Commercial Break.[/b] We are now taken to video recorded during the break. It shows Finlay being helped up and looking after his son. He carries him up the ramp as the crowd cheers for him one last time.Michelle McCool is now seen backstage, talking with Divas Champion Maryse. McCool says that she’s glad Maryse beat Gail Kim earlier, because Kim is the type of girl she hates. Before Maryse can say something back, McCool puts her finger on Maryse’s lips, stopping her from talking. McCool says that just because she beat Kim, it doesn’t mean she’ll be able to beat her, and she wants the Divas Title that is rightfully hers. McCool walks off leaving Maryse looking annoyed.Singles Match [Royal Rumble Qualifier] Big Show vs. Curt Hawkins w/ Caylen Croft and Trent Baretta[/b] For the first time since the split of Hawkins and Ryder, Hawkins was involved in a pretty important match. Despite Show’s enormous size advantage, Hawkins managed to get in some decent offense. So those who thought this would be a simple squash were wrong. Still though, a Knockout Punch from the “World’s Largest Athlete” put away Hawkins. Winner: Big Show (5:33) **½
Commercial Break.[/b] We return from commercial to see CM Punk knocked out on the ground backstage. EMTs, superstars and trainers are surrounding him as Stephanie McMahon appears. She asks if anybody saw what happened. Two nearby backstage workers say they saw Shelton Benjamin in the area just before Punk was attacked. Stephanie storms off and the camera follows her as she goes to Benjamin’s locker room. She enters, but the room is empty as it seems like Shelton has left the building.Commercial Break.
Steel Cage Match Edge vs. Kofi Kingston[/b] Smackdown’s history is littered with great Steel Cage matches, from Edge/Jericho to Mysterio/Eddie to Undertaker/Batista and tonight’s main event goes right up there with those. The story of the match centered on Edge’ desire to beat Kofi and put this “slump” as he calls it, behind him. He attempted to escape over the top and through the door numerous times early on. Kofi used his athleticism to jump up and reach Edge rather quickly when he did try to escape. The match got bloody after Kofi slammed Edge’s face into the steel multiple times. Near the end, Edge was furious that Kofi wouldn’t stay down. He hit him with an Edgecution and two Spears but he would not stay down long enough for Edge to escape. The crowd went nuts each time Kofi got up. Edge set up for a third Spear, but Kofi leaped straight over him and caught him Trouble in Paradise as he turned around. Kofi began to slowly attempt to climb over the top. As he reached the top, Edge was halfway to the door. It was a slow race that eventually Edge won as he hurdled out of the cage door, just a split second before Kofi’s feet could hit the floor. Winner: Edge (18:26) ****¼Post match, Jim Ross and Matt Striker mentioned how despite Kofi’s continuous effort to get up from everything Edge hit him with, he was too hurt to make the climb out of the cage quickly enough to beat Edge. As Edge celebrates up the ramp, the announcers put over Kofi Kingston, as we’ve just witnessed the making of a star.

-Shelton Benjamin opening SmackDown with his promo is good. Liked the main event for next week. -Jeff Hardy beating Chris Masters is great. I think this Hardy/Orton feud will go into WrestleMania. -Maryse beating Kim is the right call. Makes the champ look good. -John Morrison winning is great. Morrison tieing the series is even better. -Sheamus vs. Finlay's match sounded brutal. Sheamus has become a serious threat. Good win for him. -Big Show beating Hawkins was expected. Big Show in the RR will be a threat. -Great steel cage match. Edge winning is great. Don't like to see the new pushed guys get pushed to hard and quick. -That was your best SmackDown yet.
