WWE SmackDown: Friday 1st January 2010...Decent promo to kick off the show this week, the first show of 2010, Shelton Benjamin cutting a promo on CM Punk. I am loving Shelton as World Heavyweight Champion, even if it is only short-term and temporary. Him bringing up his achievements and past is also pretty good, with Punk. Slightly weak opening contest of the decade for professional wrestling, but an acceptable one anyway. Jeff Hardy beating Chris Masters is fine, not a bad match and Jeff I could actually see winning the Royal Rumble match at the Rumble. Maryse beating Gail Kim is fine; these two didn't have too great matches on the RAW brand around this time range. Next, another great match in the fourth of the Best of Seven Series for the WWE United States Championship. John Morrison retaining against Tyler Black is fine; I can probably see Black winning this series, but I would much prefer Morrison retaining, though he's had it a little long now. Ah, the final Belfast Brawl. Sheamus beating Finlay is fine, maybe the last we will see of Finlay; what a great competitor he has been, though. Poor Curt Hawkins, easy win for Big Show but I can't see him winning the Royal Rumble match. I am liking the intensity of these backstage segments regarding CM Punk and Shelton Benjain though, I would expect Chris Jericho to get involved in this feud though; he must have been behind Punk's attack. Lastly, Edge beating Kofi Kingston is for the best; great feud here, climaxing in the steel cage. A great show overall, now just to prepare properly for the Rumble.

SmackDown, a bit of a face segment from Benjamin, possible turn? Obvious win for Jeff Hardy, especially with Orton making it into the Rumble aswell. A good victory for Divas Champion, Maryse, but I hope Gail Kim takes the title soon. Glad that John Morrison gets a win here, Tyler Black had a few wins. Very happy that Sheamus wins here, Finlay isn't doing much on SmackDown anyway. Will Finlay go to Raw, or is that him done with the WWE? Obvious victory for the Big Show. I'm happy that Edge won here, and that you made it close as to not hurt Kofi too much. I'm glad Kingston is now a star. Good SmackDown.

Raw 1/4/10 Preview-Back at Armageddon, Triple H finally succeeded in defeating MVP for the WWE Championship in a Steel Cage match. Triple H has been gearing up for his title defense against Batista at the Royal Rumble, but he forgot about MVP's guaranteed rematch clause. MVP has decided to cash in on it tonight, the first Raw of 2010. These two had some brutal battles throughout 2009 and tonight should be no different. Can MVP regain his coveted title? Or will Triple H gain some momentum heading into the Royal Rumble? -Kane has had his issues with MVP over the past few weeks and John Cena has been dealing with Ted Dibiase and his Legacy buddies. Tonight though, Kane will go one on one with John Cena. These two had two absolute brawls over the WWE Title during 2009 at Judgment Day and King of the Ring. Let's not forgot that at Night of Champions, Kane lost the WWE Title and Cena won it that night. There is always bad blood between these two and tonight should be no different. -The Intercontinental Champion Kaval will be in action against Tyler Reks with a spot in the Royal Rumble on the line. Speaking of the Intercontinental Title, we will witness a Triple Threat number one contender's match tonight involving the top three contenders. Sean Morley, Elijah Burke and Evan Bourne will all do battle and finally settle their differences over a shot at the Intercontinental Title. Tune into the USA Network tonight at 9:00PM for all of this and more!

- Pretty good opening promo for Shelton to kick off the new year. - Jeff vs Masters seems pretty lackluster for a first match, but good that Jeff is in the Rumble. - Maryse beating Kim is quite obvious, and a good decision as well, makes her look good(er). - Morrison winning is great, hope to see the series go all the way to 7. - Sheamus sending Finlay off Smackdown is the right call as he could uprise. - Big Show squashing Hawkins is fine, a little long of a match though. - Interesting to have Punk be knocked out (probably by Shelton). Intriguing. - Great steel cage match you had there, and Edge winning is good. Kofi still credible.
Good first Smackdown of 2010,

January 4th, 2010 University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio Attendance: 12,455
The opening video package goes back to Armageddon, where we see clips of Triple H defeating MVP in a Steel Cage match to become the WWE Champion for the 13th time.Jerry “The King” Lawler and Michael Cole welcome the WWE Universe to the first edition of Raw in 2010. They promote tonight’s huge main event, which is a rematch from Armageddon between Triple H and MVP for the WWE Championship. They then hype up the rest of tonight which includes a battle between John Cena and Kane, a Royal Rumble qualifying match and a number one contender’s match for the Intercontinental Title.Triple H’s theme hits as the WWE Champion comes out to address the fans once again this week. He gets in the ring, sporting a suit as he has since he won the belt. He begins to speak, firstly about Armageddon. He says that when he escaped the cage and became WWE Champion he thought he was finally done with MVP. On that night he took the WWE Title and put a hurting on MVP, which were the two things he wanted more than anything. Now, he’s moved on to preparing for an upcoming match with his former protégé, Batista at the Royal Rumble. But before he can get to that, he now has to defend his belt against MVP, which throws a wrench into his preparations and isn’t in the least bit fair. This brings out MVP, who gets right in the ring. He tells Triple H to stop whining about defending the belt tonight. He says that when he was Champion he defended it whenever he had to and never complained. It didn’t matter who it was against or when it was, he just did it. He then says that tonight the two of them meet one more time, and that’s it. MVP won’t keep trying to find ways to get more and more title shots like Triple H did. He’s taking his shot tonight and he’ll earn anything else he gets after this. Triple H doesn’t like the tone MVP took and attempted to nail him with the WWE Title, but MVP ducked it and tackled him down. He hit him with multiple right hands, until Triple H managed to break free and scramble to the outside and up the ramp. MVP taunted to the crowd as we cut to commercial. Commercial Break.
Number One Contender for the Intercontinental Title Triple Threat Match Elijah Burke vs. Evan Bourne vs. Sean MorleyThis has been brewing for weeks as these three are all big threats to the Intercontinental Title. The heels worked over Bourne for most of the match until Morley went for a cover. Burke broke that up and the two of them began to brawl. Burke ended up connecting with the Elijah Express onto Morley. Bourne met him with a hurricanrana that sent him to the outside. He climbed up and nailed the Airbourne onto Morley for the win. Winner: Evan Bourne (7:17) ***After the match, Bourne was celebrating in the ring when a man with long hair ran in from the crowd and attacked him from behind. He lifted Bourne and drilled him with a double arm DDT variation. He then stared down at the fallen body of our new number one contender.Commercial Break.Eric Bischoff is shown backstage in his office. A knock is heard and in steps Serena Mancini. Before she can say anything Bischoff asks her if she saw the previous match and he mentions how disappointed he is in Sean Morley. Mancini tells him that she doesn’t care about any of that, all she wants is another shot at the Women’s Title and she wants it tonight. Eric tells her that she’ll have to earn another shot and she can start tonight by taking on Maria.Non-Title Tag Team Match Cryme Tyme vs. World Tag Team Champions The British Alliance w/ Layla London & Katie Lea BurchillThe Champions drew some impressive heat as they came to the ring. They were in control for the majority of this contest as they cut the ring in half and prevented Shad from entering. They used that time to double team JTG and eventually, Regal made him tap out to the Regal Stretch as Burchill knocked Shad off the apron. Winners: World Tag Team Champions The British Alliance (6:25) **½Angela Fong is now shown standing by with the three members of Legacy. She asks the leader, Ted Dibiase Jr. about all three of them failing to get a win last week. Ted looks disgusted at her for asking a question like that and says that Legacy looks at the big picture. Yes they all lost last week, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. Rhodes and Hennig can always find a way to earn another title shot and he will find a way to get back into WWE Title contention. One of those ways would be to win the Royal Rumble. Rhodes and Hennig interject and say they might just go on to win the Rumble themselves. Ted looks a tad surprised at his stable mates saying something like that, but he agrees and says that any one of them is talented enough to win the Rumble and the main event at WrestleMania.Commercial Break.Batista is shown backstage in his locker room in street clothes. MVP enters and they shake hands. MVP tells him that he knows how much he wants to beat Triple H for the WWE Title at Royal Rumble, but he plans on beating him tonight and going on to face Batista. Batista smirks and says that while he enjoys beating on Triple H, he’ll be glad to face MVP at Royal Rumble. Regardless, he plans on leaving the Rumble with the WWE Title. MVP smirks back and says that he wouldn’t have it any other way.Singles Match Kane w/ Paul Bearer vs. John CenaMuch like their previous matches over the past year, this was basically a brawl. Kane nailed some powerful moves such as a sidewalk slam, power slam and big boot. Cena made the heroic comeback near the end though as he hit Kane with a back suplex, followed by the five knuckle shuffle and then the top rope leg drop bulldog. He then locked in the STFU but Bearer got on the apron. Cena broke the hold and grabbed Bearer by the collar. Kane grabbed Cena and turned him around, but Cena ducked a right hand and hit the FU to pick up the win. Winner: John Cena (10:10) **¾
Commercial Break.
Singles Match [Royal Rumble Qualifier] Intercontinental Champion Kaval w/ Paul Bearer vs. Tyler Reks w/ Johnny CurtisDespite Reks primarily being a tag team wrestler, he managed to keep this match competitive. These two met before in FCW so they weren’t strangers. After some decent back and forth action, Kaval gained the win by hitting the Warrior’s Way. Winner: Intercontinental Champion Kaval (5:52) **½The cameras go to the back now, where Evan Bourne is watching on a monitor. He has an ice pack on his neck as Josh Matthews enters. Matthews asks him about the attack he suffered earlier tonight. Bourne says that he doesn’t know who the attacker was, but he doesn’t appreciate sneak attacks and promises to get even, right after he wins the Intercontinental Title back next week.Commercial Break. The Smackdown Rebound is shown now, followed by a promo for the Royal Rumble, which is in just a few short weeks.Commercial Break.
Women’s Match Maria Kanellis vs. Serena ManciniWomen’s Champion Mickie James was on commentary during this and she was focused on Serena for the most part. Maria surprisingly got in some good offense. She even nailed the bronco buster in the corner at one point but in the end, fell victim to the Mancini Code. Winner: Serena Mancini (5:11) **After the match, Serena began to trash talk James and motioned that she was coming for the belt. James told her to bring it and Serena went to meet her on the outside but the referee stepped in between them. Serena leveled him with a right hand and went straight to brawling with James. They fought on the outside for a few until multiple referees broke it up.Commercial Break.
WWE Championship Triple H (c) vs. MVPThe time when the bell rang was 10:47 so these two were given a good amount of time. They wrestled a nice, solid contest. Triple H worked MVP’s arm throughout the match and every time the former Champion looked to gain momentum, his arm would cost him. He tried to lift HHH for a slam but his arm gave out and it led to HHH taking control once again. In the end, HHH hooked MVP for a Pedigree but he swept HHH’s legs and rolled into a pinning combination for a near fall. As they got up at the same time, MVP hit him with a big boot and then followed that with the Playmaker. Before he could cover though, Kane’s fireworks exploded on the stage. He came out to the top of the stage and this distracted MVP long enough for HHH to get up, turn him around and drop him with the Pedigree for the win. Winner and Still WWE Champion: Triple H (12:19) ***¼Kane began to walk down to the ring but Batista ran down and stopped him. The two big men brawled down the ramp until Triple H intervened. Both he and Kane beat down on Batista and Triple H put him down with a Pedigree. Triple H raised the WWE Title high as the show went off the air, while Kane lifted and dropped MVP with a Tombstone.© WWE 2010

A Kane/HHH vs Batista/MVP match seems inevitable sometime now, but the main event and aftermath was good. Sounds like a solid match between MVP and Trips. I won't pretend I've ever read this diary from start to finish, and it's so long I am not gonna get caught up, congrats on the longevity btw. I'm just gonna read from here on in. No idea who aval is, but seems to be a dece IC champ. i like kane being with bearer too.

Raw, good opener with Triple H and MVP, I look forward to their Title match, and hope Triple H retains. Evan Bourne as the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship is great. Oooh, 'the man' sounds like Drew McIntyre... I would have liked Cryme Tyme to go over here with this been non-title, show that they are threats to the belt. John Cena over Kane was the right move, Cena needs something big to do. Obvious victory for the Intercontinental Champion, glad Kaval is in the Royal Rumble. Another obvious victory for Serena, I'm sure she'll get another title shot soon, and I hope she wins when she does. Very happy you stuck with Triple H as the WWE Champion, MVP had his run. Great way to end Raw, can't wait for the Royal Rumble. I wonder who the mystery entrants will be.

WWE RAW: Monday 4th January 2010...Ah, a hot way to kick off RAW in 2010, with Triple H and MVP headlining this edition of RAW for the WWE Championship; hopefully for the last time as these two have been going at it since about, October. Decent promo to kick things off with Triple H in the ring, not a bad set up for the feud ending collision for the WWE Championship tonight. I like how it got physical too, as the tension just builds up for later on. Ah, Evan Bourne gaining contention to the WWE Intercontinental Championship. That is fine, as he probably deserves another opportunity at the belt. Sean Morley really doesn't serve much purpose anymore on RAW. I wouldn't be surprised to see him let go in the near future. Elijah Burke, as I mentioned before, should have at least an Intercontinental title reign by the end of this year. The British Alliance beating Cryme Tyme is fine, shame about how Shad Gaspard and JTG's momentum has gone down since returning to such build a few months ago. John Cena and Kane had a solid first-hour main event; Cena picking up the win is probably best, wonder what is next for both of these men especially after Royal Rumble. Yep, two more superstars that should be put down to FCW, to be honest. Tyler Reks and Johnny Curtis I forgot were even employed, and they only appear when they're used to put others over, such as Kaval here. Not that great a match, considering these two are of different sizes. Serena Mancini beating Maria was very likely, as Maria isn't that extreme a challenge. Lastly, solid main event with Triple H as predicted retaining the WWE Championship from MVP. Batista's appearance was good, too. Overall, a see-saw of an opening edition of RAW to 2010.

ECW opens with a video package that shows Rey Mysterio win the Elimination Chase last week in a tough battle with former ECW Champion Kevin Thorn.January 5th, 2010 Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky Attendance: 17,062 ECW opens with a video package that shows Rey Mysterio win the Elimination Chase last week in a tough battle with former ECW Champion Kevin Thorn.Todd Grisham and Byron Saxton welcome the audience to tonight’s big show after the opening fireworks go off. They promote tonight’s big tag team main event where the ECW Champion Jack Swagger will team with Matt Hardy to take on the number one contender Rey Mysterio and ECW’s hottest new star, Bryan Danielson! Plus, we will witness a Royal Rumble Qualifying match, but first we’re kicking off with a Television Title match.Television Championship The Hurricane (c) vs. Zack Ryder w/ CourtneyUnlike their contest two weeks ago, Hurricane was in control of this one. He nailed his signature moves and has Ryder reeling throughout. He set up for the choke slam, but Ryder broke free and connected with a leg lariat. He covered for a near fall and then made a mistake by climbing to the top. Hurricane got up and slammed him down from there. He called for the Eye of the Hurricane, but Courtney got on the apron. The referee tried to get her to get off but she wouldn’t, which distracted Hurricane. It allowed Ryder to hit him with a low blow and roll him up for the win. Winner and NEW Television Champion: Zack Ryder (9:16) ***Before he could celebrate though, Theodore Long’s theme hit. The ECW General Manager came out to the stage and announced that he wasn’t going to let that stand. The Hurricane was screwed and the match will be restarted immediately. Ryder is furious and Hurricane is starting to get up as the bell rings.Television Championship The Hurricane (c) vs. Zack Ryder w/ CourtneyRyder went for the Zack Attack, but Hurricane broke free and set up for the Eye of the Hurricane. He nailed it and covered but Ryder got his foot on the rope. Hurricane went to lift him but he rolled him into a small package for another near fall. They got up at the same time and Hurricane swung at him, but Ryder ducked it and hit the Zack Attack for the win. Winner and NEW Television Champion: Zack Ryder (3:29) ***Ryder celebrates with his newly won gold as Long looks on from the top of stage. He looks impressed. Ryder leaves up the ramp laughing at Long. Long tells Ryder that as long as he wins the belt the right way, he has no problem with that so there’s no need to laugh. Ryder still poses with the belt.Commercial Break. The theme of Carlito hits the speakers as the newly heel turned Carlito made his way down to the ring. He gets on the microphone and begins to address the WWE Universe. He says that for the past week everybody has been asking him why he attacked his brother after their match last week. He understands why people ask him this, but not because he shouldn’t do that to his brother. He gets why they ask about him doing it last week because he should’ve done it a lot sooner. He says that when he decided to team with Primo it was helpful for both of them. Their tandem could help Primo become a star and Carlito would help himself because his career needed a shot in the arm. Once they lost the WWE Tag Team Titles though, things became a drag. He realized that Primo doesn’t have what it takes to make it in the WWE and he began to hold him back. Week after week, they’d lose and he’d let it go, hoping things would turn around but they didn’t. Despite giving his brother the benefit of the doubt, he continued to falter and Carlito finally couldn’t take anymore last week when Primo cost them a spot in the Royal Rumble. Primo makes his way out to the stage now. He tells Carlito that it was both of them who struggled as of late, so the blame shouldn’t only be on him. And if memory serves him right, it was Carlito who got pinned last week. Primo challenges Carlito to a match next week on ECW. Carlito accepts and tells him that he’s going to prove that he was held back because he is the only Colon who matters. Commercial Break.Josh Matthews is shown backstage with Bryan Danielson. He asks him about the chance to be in the main event of ECW for the first time in his career. Danielson says that it feels great but he’s not nervous about it because he’s been involved in big match situations rather often in his career. He mentions that he’s always wanted to team with Rey Mysterio and promises that they will make a great team.Singles Match [RR Qualifying Match] Hade Vansen w/ Paradox & Kevin Thorn vs. Tommy DreamerBefore the match, the announcers informed us that due to being in the finals of the Elimination Chase, Kevin Thorn was granted a spot in the Rumble. This was decent as these two worked pretty well together. Vansen had the speed advantage here and he used that, but the veteran Dreamer was a step ahead it seemed. He nailed Vansen with the Dreamer Driver but Thorn got up on the apron. Dreamer quickly ran and nailed him with a right hand to knock him down. Paradox got up and went for the green mist but Dreamer ducked it and knocked her off as well. He then drilled Vansen with the DDT to win. Winner: Tommy Dreamer (6:11) **¼In the back, Theodore Long is shown watching on a monitor. Perfectly Awesome enter and demand to know why they aren’t on tonight’s card. When they were Champions they’d be on both Raw & ECW. Long admits that they should get some ring work, but there’s no time tonight. So next week on ECW they will go head to head with the tandem of Yoshi Tatsu & Goldust.Commercial Break.
Tag Team Match Bryan Danielson & Rey Mysterio vs. ECW Champion Jack Swagger & Matt HardyThis was given a lot of time and it was worth it. These four superb wrestlers put on a great show. Swagger and Hardy worked like a well oiled machine as they worked over Danielson for the majority of the match. He nearly made the tag twice but was stopped both times. Eventually, he did it and Rey came in on fire. He was quick and nailed both of his opponents with big moves. Both Swagger and Hardy landed on the second rope at one point and Rey hit them both with one 619. He covered the legal man, Hardy, and got the victory. Winners: Bryan Danielson & Rey Mysterio (12:29) ***½The victors celebrated their win in the ring as the WWE Universe cheered them on. Jack Swagger retreated up the ramp with the ECW Title in his grasp and he looked very worried as he watched Mysterio.© WWE 2010

ECW on SyFy: Tuesday 5th January 2010...Pretty predictable opening contest to start off the show, with The Hurricane finally losing the WWE Television Championship to Zack Ryder; well expected, but to be honest, Ryder didn't need the dirty finish for the win. Especially of his first title belt. Wait, ah. Theodore Long restarting the match is nice, but I find it humorous that Ryder would then win cleanly. Very innovative situation. I hope Hurricane isn't let go of in 2010, as he still serves some good purpose. Next, very good Carlito promo about Primo, and a feud growing should be good as long as Carlito is given the best opportunity, though Primo sticks in nicely as well. Tommy Dreamer advancing to the Royal Rumble over Hade Vansen seems for the best, not a problem with that. Bryan Danielson and Rey Mysterio beating Jack Swagger and Matt Hardy is fine, a solid main event setting up for the Royal Rumble. A good show.

ECW, sounds like a good Main Event, and a chance for Bryan Danielson to shine. I'm happy to see that Zack Ryder takes the Television Championship, he definitely needs this to make it in ECW, and The Hurricane has had the title for a while now anyway. Wait, a restart?! Woah, Ryder wins again, I am glad, makes him look extremely credible. I love what you did there, good job. Carlito versus Primo next week should be good, I hope Carlito comes out victorious in this brothers feud. Very happy that Tommy Dreamer made it into the Royal Rumble match, even though he definitely won't win. Perfectly Awesome versus Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust for next week? Sounds good, I hope YoshiDust win and put an end to the Perfectly Awesome team. I was surprised to see Danielso and Mysterio get the victory here, but happy at the same time as it gives Danielson a victory and Mysterio some momentum going into the Rumble. However, I do hope that Jack Swagger retains the ECW Championship at the Pay Per View, he needs a decent reign. Good show.

1/7/10 Edition-The WWE has released Hornswoggle as of today. With Finlay losing the "Loser Leaves Smackdown" Belfast Brawl to Sheamus, he will go on to retire. That leaves nothing more for Hornswoggle, so he was given the axe. -The long haired man who appeared on Raw and attacked Evan Bourne was Drew McIntyre. McIntyre had a brief stint a few years back in the WWE alongside the Highlanders. He will now be getting a push as heel, no word on what his official gimmick will be though. -The WWE have made two signings over the past week. Both signings are of former WWE Superstars. One is Taryn Terrell, formerly known as Tiffany. Plans have her re-debuting on Smackdown as a face dive. She was the former manager of Gavin Spears and assistant General Manager of ECW, but she will now have an in ring role. -The other signing is Joey Matthews, former WWE Tag Team Champion while teaming with John Morrison. He was let go after a horrific accident where he injured his face at Armageddon 2006. He will return to Smackdown and be involved in something with CM Punk. That is all that is known at this time.

This week’s Smackdown opens with a video package showing the epic Steel Cage match between Edge and Kofi Kingston, followed by Stephanie McMahon finding the fallen body of CM Punk. The opening pyrotechnics shoot off to signal the start of our broadcast. Jim Ross and Matt Striker welcome us to tonight’s sold out show and hype up the main event which involves our World Champion Shelton Benjamin teaming with Randy Orton to take on CM Punk and Jeff Hardy. They also remind us that we will witness a Royal Rumble Qualifying match and Chris Jericho will go one on one with the Big Show!“Coming Home” hits as Edge makes his way down to the ring in street clothes. He starts his promo by bragging about his victory over Kofi Kingston in last week’s Steel Cage main event. He once again admits that 2009 was a tough year for him, but he started 2010 on the right foot by beating Kofi and putting an end to their rivalry once and for all. He mentions that the once great, standout moment of 2009 was when he won the Royal Rumble. So that’s one thing he’d like to do repeat and he’ll begin the road to doing so tonight when he wins his Royal Rumble qualifier. He promises to go on and become one of the few men to ever win back to back Royal Rumbles. He claims that no man on the WWE roster can stop him. At that moment, a gong is heard and the lights go out. The crowd goes nuts in anticipation but when the lights come back on, Edge is still alone in the ring. Purple smoke is rising around the ring though and Edge looks freaked out as we cut to commercial. Commercial Break.
Singles Match Kofi Kingston vs. SheamusTwo of Smackdown’s top rising stars meet for the first time here tonight. Kofi was still showing some ill effects from his brutal cage match last week and Sheamus took advantage of that. He targeted the injured ribs of Kingston and really worked him over. In the end, Sheamus went for the Bicycle Kick, but Kofi ducked and nailed him with Trouble in Paradise. He couldn’t go for the cover though as he was still in too much pain. They ended up getting up at the same time and Sheamus managed to catch him with the Bicycle Kick anyway for the win. Winner: Sheamus (8:12) ***¼The cameras now cut to Angela Fong, who is backstage with the current WWE Divas Champion Maryse. She asks Maryse about the threat Gail Kim poses to her title. Maryse says something in French, but translates is in English after. She said that Kim is not a threat to her title because she isn’t on Maryse’s level, which she proved last week and will prove again tonight. United States Champion John Morrison, her partner for tonight comes up to her and says the same thing goes for Tyler Black, he’ll never be on the A-List and he’s only going to have the fifteen minutes of fame he got when he won two matches in the Best of Seven series.Commercial Break. In the back, we see the New Hart Foundation in their locker room. TJ Wilson tells Harry Smith that he feels lost without a Title belt. Smith agrees, as does Natalya. Wilson says that they are part of the Hart family and they need to be better than this. Natalya suggests something in Wilson’s ear and he seems to like it. They get up and leave the locker room.Singles Match WWE Tag Team Champion Paul London w/ Brian Kendrick vs. Trent Baretta w/ Caylen Croft & Curt HawkinsIf this match was any indication of how a series of matches between these two teams would go, then we’re in for a treat. These two put on a fast paced match that went back and forth. Baretta nailed a nice DDT on the ring apron, which was the highlight of the match. The finish came when Baretta set up for a tornado DDT, but London reversed it into a Northern lights suplex. He then nailed a standing shooting star press and got the win. Winner: WWE Tag Team Champion Paul London (7:25) ***Edge is now shown in the back, complaining to Vickie about the signs of the Undertaker earlier tonight. Vickie is assuring him that ‘Taker isn’t here and that he can’t do anything to him. Edge is still not feeling any better about it. Vickie tells him just to focus on the Royal Rumble qualifying match. He walks off, still looking worried.Commercial Break.
Singles Match Big Show vs. Chris JerichoDespite this involving two former World Champions, this wasn’t as good as it should’ve been. It’s obvious that Big Show is coming to the end of his career. The story of this match was Jericho trying to chop down the big man to size. Show was dominating at times and in the end, he went for the choke slam. Jericho wriggled free though and ran to the outside and up the ramp until the referee’s count reached ten. Winner via Countout: Big Show (8:03) **½
Commercial Break.Shelton Benjamin’s theme music hits as the World Champion comes out to the stage. He’s in a suit and begins to talk about being a Champion. He says that he is the “Gold Standard” of World Champions and he’ll continue to be that well past the Royal Rumble. People are saying that he is a fluke Champion, who only won the belt because of his Money in the Bank briefcase. Shelton says that his victory over Chris Jericho two weeks ago should be enough proof, but to further it, he will defend his belt over the next few weeks in a series of open challenges. Available to anybody that wants a shot. He promises to prove that he is the best Smackdown has to offer because there “ain’t no stopping him now.” Commercial Break.
Mixed Tag Team Match Gail Kim & Tyler Black vs. United States Champion John Morrison & Divas Champion MaryseAs it always is when they’re in the ring together, Black and Morrison put on a great show. Kim and Maryse did well together also. The heels were in control for the most part, but Kim made the comeback for her team against Maryse. Eventually, an Eat Defeat put Maryse away and helped put Kim back on the road to a Title shot. Winners: Gail Kim & Tyler Black (10:09) ***
Commercial Break. When we return, Josh Matthews is shown standing by with Jeff Hardy, who is applying his face paint. He asks Jeff about everything involving Randy Orton lately. Hardy says that he can understand why Randy is mad because he did injure him back at Unforgiven. But if he had a problem all he had to do was ask for a match with him and he would’ve given it to him. Instead, he attempts to sneak attack him multiple times. Jeff says that he will get his hands on Randy Orton tonight, at the Rumble, and any other time Orton wants some.Singles Match [Royal Rumble Qualifier] WWE Tag Team Champion Brian Kendrick w/ Paul London vs. EdgeEven though these two put on a good contest, it wasn’t one of the best qualifiers simply because the crowd knew who was going to win. Kendrick did his best to put up a good fight, but Edge was too much for him as he put him away with a Spear. Winner: Edge (9:19) **¾
Commercial Break.
Tag Team Match CM Punk & Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton & World Heavyweight Champion Shelton BenjaminThis was given a lot of time and the two teams put on a very good showing. As usual, the heels worked over one of the faces, Hardy in this case, and they kept him from tagging in Punk. Eventually, after a flurry of offense, Jeff made the tag. Punk came in and hit Orton with a series of slaps and kicks. Benjamin ran in and got nailed with a super kick. Punk whipped Orton into the corner and hit his knee strike/bulldog combination. He waited for Orton to get up, so he can hit the GTS, but Benjamin attempted to attack him. Jeff intervened and dropped him with a Twist of Fate. Punk connected with the GTS on Orton for the win. Winners: CM Punk & Jeff Hardy (15:16) ***½After the match, Punk and Hardy celebrated with the crowd, who was going crazy. Benjamin retreated up the ramp, clutching his belt tightly. Orton snuck from behind, turned Punk around and drilled him with an RKO. Hardy goes to nail him but Orton ducks and hits him with an RKO as well. Orton then stalks Hardy as he’s getting up and he connects with a sick punt to the skull! Orton looks on sadistically as Hardy is left unconscious in the middle of the ring.© WWE 2010

-Edge's opening promo was good. Like his promises to win the Royal Rumble. -Sheamus beating Kofi was the right call. Both coming off a good new year despite Kofi losing. -London beating Barreta was a smrt decision. -Big Show's career almost over sounds sad. But, he deserves to be in Hall of Fame honesty. Many won't agree I'd bet. The countout finish was good. -Tyler Black and Gail Kim winning is great. But still hoping JoMo forces a Game 7. -Edge winning was good. I'm hoping he has a great 2010. -Hardy and Punk winning is great! Giving Punk the momentum before the Rumble was good. -Only thing I don't like is Orton getting both Punk and Hardy with an RKO. I'd thing one of them would stop him. -Still amazing SmackDown.
