I liked the opening of the show and can't wait to see if Punk kicks JBL's ass . Liked the opening match and Punk losing to Jericho is fine by me as it showed Punk selling the injury well. I like that the Technicians might get a title shot. I am glad that Beth retained but I didn't see her not retaining. Glad Burchill had a promo, Hopefully he only gets better on the mic. Glad that JBL picked up the win over Rey but only because it was a cheap finish. Liked the HBK promo but he's retiring . DAMN YOU JBL Glad the Technicians won the match and I hope they get win the titles. Liked that HBK picked up the win but Don't have him leave please Great show, reply to wwe 09- Shaking Things Up Again

Like the Punk/JBL storyline that you have going on. Jericho winning was fine but the clean loss hurt Punk a tad. Beth winning was the right call. I could see the JBL/Rey finish happen, random finishes like that have been happening in the last year or so. Like the HBK promo, although he should maybe have one on Raw after the PPV like Flair did. Good attack by JBL backstage to add heat to the match. Figured Cena/HBK would win, made sense though. Backlash should be good.

After reading through this, it's obvious you have a distinct talent of building stars and developing fresh feuds.
Backlash looked stacked and amazing. I can't believe it, but you're actually making me like Kennedy... kinda. He's my most hated WWE superstar but the way you're using him in particular is superb.

ECW 4/21/09 Preview
-Last week on ECW, Shawn Michaels and Matt Hardy met in a classic match, but it was interuppted by ECW Champion Elijah Burke. This week on ECW, Shawn Michaels' open contract has already been signed as he will go one on one with Burke in a first-time ever match. Can Burke pick up a major victory? Or will he fall victim to The Showstopper?
-A few weeks back, Jack Swagger defeated Evan Bourne to become the new Television Champion. Last week, Bourne asked Teddy Long for a rematch and it's been granted. Tonight, Bourne gets his shot at "The All-American American". Can Swagger beat Bourne again? Or will the former Champ regain his Championship?
-Kevin Thorn's mentor was revealed to be Gangrel. Last week, we found out who his minions were, Had Vansen & Tyler Black. Together, they form the Brood 2.0, and tonight, Vansen & Black will be in Tag Team action! Can they follow in the footsteps of their leader, Kevin Thorn and pick up some victories?
Catch all of this and much more on Sci-Fi at 9PM!

Backlash looks spectacular. Shawn Michaels' retirement match should really be done at Wrestlemania but I suppose wrestlers always return for a few more matches after they 'retire'. Edge against Shane McMahon is awesome. CM Punk up against Bradshaw is mehh but the rest of the card looks awesome. I haven't really been a reader of this diary but i'll definitely start reading it now. Good luck with the rest of the diary. ^^

April 21st, 2009 RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina Attendance: 19,726
We open tonight’s edition of ECW with the weekly video package highlighting last week’s show. Tonight’s video showed clips of Shawn Michaels match last week with Matt Hardy and how Elijah Burke took out Matt after the match.
Todd Grisham & Matt Striker welcome us to tonight’s show and pump up the viewers. They announce tonight’s non-title main event of Elijah Burke and Shawn Michaels, plus Jack Swagger defending his Television Championship against former champ, Evan Bourne.
The show kicks off with the theme music of the World Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and The Miz. They get in the ring and begin to talk about how back at No Way Out they beat Jamie Noble & Charlie Haas in the middle of the ring. Then, The Technicians had to go out and train harder than ever to come back for another shot. They say that all the training in the world will not help them against the best tag team of the 21st Century. After a little more trash talking, they’re about to close their promo when Noble and Haas come running out and run the Champs out of the ring. Miz dropped his title on the way out and Noble raised it in the air.
Commercial Break.
Theodore Long and Tiffany are shown backstage when Gavin Spears enters the office. He thanks Long for giving him the opportunity to showcase his skills here on ECW and then says that he would like to get into Television Title contention as he climbs up the ranks of ECW. Long says it’s a great idea and tells him that his road to the top starts next week.
Television Championship Jack Swagger (c) vs. Evan Bourne
Once again, these two put on a good show. For some reason though, Swagger seemed to be one step ahead of the former TV Champion. Every time Bourne went for a momentum swinging move, Swagger had a counter ready and it kept the crowd quiet. Eventually though, Bourne broke through and began to hit his key spots until he missed his diving knee drop off the top. He hit his knees cleanly on the mat and Swagger just drilled him with the gutwench powerbomb to retain his gold.
Winner and still Television Champion: Jack Swagger (8:15) ***
Commercial Break.
We return to see Tony Atlas yelling at Teddy Long to put Mark Henry on the show and give him the ECW Title shots that he deserves. Long says that Henry hasn’t shown that he deserves it as of late. Atlas says something about hoping to be drafted as he leaves.
Tag Team Match Cryme Tyme vs. Hade Vansen & Tyler Black w/ Gangrel & Kevin Thorn
Cryme Tyme seems to only be used as a jobber tag team to put over others. Black & Vansen both looked very good in the ring, with Black coming off as the better of the two. They hit some very impressive offensive moves and they ended it when Vansen hit Shad with a spike DDT while Black drilled JTG with a Small Package Driver.
Winners: Hade Vansen & Tyler Black (6:09) **¼
After the match, Thorn and Gangrel cut a short promo once again proclaiming to rule ECW. They said that it will begin by taking out ECW’s roots, which is Tommy Dreamer, and they will get rid of the new additions to ECW through the draft. They will then work their way to the ECW Title.
Commercial Break.
DJ Gabriel and Alicia Fox were interviewed and Gabriel said that no matter where he ends up come draft time next week, he will continue to dance all over the competition. The video then cuts to Chavo Guerrero saying that he wants to be drafted to Smackdown, where he & his aunt Vickie can rule everybody. Finlay, Ricky Ortiz, The Second City Saints & The Boogeyman all cut short promos like this. They were very much like the old ECW “Pulp Fiction” promos and were actually pretty cool.
Commercial Break.
Non-Title Match Elijah Burke (c) vs. Shawn Michaels
What a main event these two put on. It was slightly better than last week’s Michaels/Matt match. Matt Hardy was at ringside on commentary to promote his match with Burke at Backlash. Burke worked over Michaels back throughout the match, knowing the history of back problems that HBK has suffered. Michaels hit a flying forearm from out of nowhere and then kicked up to officially begin his comeback. He began to tune up the band but Burke ducked Sweet Chin Music, went to punch out Michaels, but he ducked that and then hit an inverted atomic drop. After some more back and forth action, Burke had Michaels set up for the Elijah Express, but as he was running, Michaels turned slightly to the side and nailed him with a huge Sweet Chin Music. He covered for the win.
Winner: Shawn Michaels (10:42) ****
After the match, Michaels celebrated in the ring and began to walk up the ramp. Burke began to get up and was mad and got his ECW Title. He went to hit Matt Hardy with it, but Matt ducked and clotheslined him down. He picked him up and hit the Twist of Fate to the crowd’s delight. Elijah Burke had a really tough time here tonight, will it continue at Backlash?

It's miraculous to see this diary still going strong. I'm proud of you Kev and this could be HOF'ed soon. I'm curious to see who gets moved around during the draft and I cannot wait for Backlash! Jericho/Rey has happened a billion times before, but it doesn't matter. Its going to be a show and everyone on this message board knows it. Hoping Orton retains and Michaels wins his final match in the WWE. Such a good career! I also hope Hardy retains for the fact that he works his ass off and deserves a nice reign in this diary. This is still great Kev, the write ups are exactly how I remember. Good luck with the rest of the way, however long that might be!

HADE VANSEN <3333 You picked two fantastic wrestlers to be the minions. I really had no idea who you would pick but Black and Vansen is awesome. I was shocked that Burke faced HBK, but it gives him the rub which is great. HBK winning was expected and it didn't make Burke look weak. I've said it before but I'll say it again - your Backlash card is fantastic.

Smackdown 4/24/09 Preview
-Last week on Smackdown, it was officially announced that at Backlash, WWE Champion Jeff Hardy would be defending his title against Kane. Before we got there though, Jeff was thrown to the wolves as he had to face Kane & Umaga in a handicap match. Kane picked up a pinfall over the Champ. Can he do it again at Backlash? And can Kane continue to pick up steam as he faces Mr. Kennedy tonight?
-Shawn Michaels will be making his last appearance on Smackdown tonight as he teams with his Backlash opponent, Triple H! DX reunites for the final time as they will take on Edge & Umaga in tag team action. Will Michaels last stop on his farewell tour be a victory? Or can Umaga & Edge spoil the good times?
-Plus, our United States Champion Hurricane Helms will be defending it tonight against The Brian Kendrick. These two have been at each other's throats for a long time now and it will finally come to an end with the gold on the line. Can Helms keep his title one more time? Or can The Brian Kendrick pick up the biggest win of his young career?
All of this and loads more when you tune into My Network TV at PM!

Nice post match promo too. The old style promos sound really great I really enjoyed them Nice main event and I am glad that HBK won and I like where the Hardy/Burke Feud is going. Overall a great show Keep up the amazing work.

Decent opening segment to create some interest for the tag teams instead of just having them have random matches. Surprised Swagger/Bourne didn't main event; Swagger winning is fine for now. Don't really know anything about the team that beat Cryme Tyme. Figured HBK/Burke would happen, and it seemed like a great main event. Decent show, congrats on the spotlight as well.

I obviously haven't been keeping up with this diary, but from what I've just read through it seems as though you're more than deserving of this months spotlight. The backlash card is looking good, Hardy vs. Burke could very well be MOTN.

April 24th, 2009 TD BankNorth Garden in Boston, Massachusetts Attendance: 16,754
Smackdown kicks off with the usual video package of last week’s events. This one shows the announcement of Jeff Hardy defending the WWE Title against Kane at Backlash and then the highlights of the handicap match that Jeff lost to Kane & Umaga.
After the opening video plays and the fireworks go off, Jim Ross & Tazz welcome us to tonight’s show. They hype up the card which includes the final reunion of D-Generation X as Triple H will team with Shawn Michaels to take on Umaga & Edge! Plus, MVP will go one on one with Shelton Benjamin and Mr. Kennedy will take on Kane!
They are cut off by the theme music of one of Smackdown’s General Managers, Shane McMahon. He comes to the ring and promotes his Last Man Standing match at Backlash. He says that it was his idea to have Edge in tonight’s tag team match against DX because he knows that both Triple H and Shawn Michaels have had their issues in the past with the “Rated R Superstar”. He says that Edge has Speared him more times than he can remember and he wants to get some revenge at Backlash. This brings out Vickie Guerrero who begins to complain that Shane can’t put her husband in a Last Man Standing match when he should be getting a WWE Title shot. Shane goes to argue back but he’s attacked from behind by Edge with a chair. Edge goes for the one man con-chair-to but stops and just stares at Shane’s fallen body and leaves the ring.
Commercial Break.
United States Championship Hurricane Helms (c) vs. The Brian Kendrick w/ Ezekiel Jackson
A fantastic opener between two of WWE’s top young stars. Kendrick has really blossomed into his new character and he hit some big moves and played a perfect heel. Helms started off hot and nailed a swinging neck breaker and a back breaker. He went for the Shining Wizard early on, but Ezekiel tripped him. Hurricane then hit him with a suicide dive to the outside. As he got back in the ring, Kendrick stomped on him and took over from there. He held control for a while but missed his turning frog splash off the top. Helms picked him up for the Nightmare on Helms Street, but Kendrick wriggled out of it and followed it up with The Kendrick and he covered for the surprising win.
Winner and NEW United States Championship: The Brian Kendrick (8:33) ***½
Kendrick and Ezekiel celebrated up the ramp with Kendrick doing some dancing along the way.
Commercial Break.
In the back, we see Gail Kim talking with Shane McMahon. She says that she is the number one contender for the Divas Championship and she would like to have her shot at Natalya at Backlash in two days. Shane likes the idea and grants her the match, saying that Backlash is now full and no more matches will be added. He then tells her to get to the ring because she has a match right now.
We then cut to Shelton Benjamin getting interviewed in the back. He talks about keeping his golden briefcase anyway he can this Sunday and that he just may cash it after he retains it. He tells John Cena, Randy Orton, Elijah Burke, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy & Kane to all watch their backs.
Intergender Tag Team Match Gail Kim & Festus w/ Jesse vs. Divas Champion Natalya & WWE Tag Team Champion TJ Wilson w/ Harry Smith
This was better than expected as Kim & Natalya have fantastic chemistry. Wilson & Festus didn’t do much considering that their styles don’t mesh well together at all. That left the two females to be the stars of the match. After some decent action the girls ended it when Kim hit Natalya with her neckbreaker slam.
Winners: Gail Kim & Festus (5:26) **
Commercial Break.
Singles Match Kane w/ Paul Bearer vs. Mr. Kennedy
These two have met before back when Kennedy was feuding with The Undertaker in 2006 but that was a very different Kane. This Kane is a monster who enjoys to hurt people and that’s just what he did here. He went out with every intention of hurting Mr. Kennedy and nothing else. Kennedy didn’t get squashed though, as he hit some of his key offensive moves and even hit the Mic Check but Kane kicked out. Kennedy made a bad move when he attempted to put Kane on his shoulders for the Green Bay Plunge. He couldn’t get him up and Kane took over and ended it with a Tombstone.
Winner: Kane (7:16) **¼
Kane did his usual pose and the pyro in the corners went off. Out of nowhere though, Jeff Hardy runs to the ring and begins to go right at Kane and finished it by knocking the big man over the top rope and to the outside. Kane wanted to get back in the ring but Paul Bearer stopped him. The crowd was going crazy as Jeff stood tall in the ring.
Commercial Break.
We return to see The Brian Kendrick being interviewed about his brand new United States Championship. He cuts a very good promo about how winning the title is his first big step towards greatness and that the WWE roster better watch out for him and Big Zeke.
Singles Match MVP w/ Eve vs. Shelton Benjamin
Once again, these two put on a fantastic contest that stole the show. They seem to have very good chemistry and that should really help make their Triple Threat match at Backlash a great encounter. Both men started by trying to get the better of each other and it was pretty even until Benjamin hit MVP with a huge block buster, yet only got a two count. Benjamin went for the T-Bone Suplex, but MVP elbowed his way out of it and nailed the Playmaker. Shockingly, Benjamin kicked out. After a little more action, MVP put him away with the Drive By.
Winner: MVP (10:04) ***¾
MVP pointed at the briefcase, which was on the outside and mouthed the words “This Sunday”. We then cut to the back, where Vickie Guerrero is wishing Edge good luck tonight. Shane McMahon comes up to them and gets right into Edge’s face. He tells Edge that he better watch out tonight and try his best not to get hurt, because he wants Edge at 100% at Backlash, so he can hurt him even more. Edge gives him a little smirk, and says that the reason he didn’t deliver the con-chair-to to Shane earlier was because he also wants Shane at 100% this Sunday, so he can destroy him. He walks off after that.
Commercial Break.
Tag Team Match D-Generation X vs. Edge & Umaga
DX got an enormous pop as they came to the ring. This match followed the usual tag formula and was a decent main event. Edge and Umaga worked over Michaels for the majority of the match, especially when Umaga used his nerve hold on HBK. Eventually though, Michaels made the tag to Triple H, who cleaned house and had the crowd going crazy. He eventually managed to hit Edge with the Pedigree after some Sweet Chin Music for the win.
Winners: D-Generation X (8:57) ***
DX celebrated as the show went off the air and they hugged in the middle of the ring as this was the last time Shawn Michaels would ever be featured on WWE TV, as this Sunday’s PPV would be his last event.

Can't believe that you're already almost at Armageddon, you've been plowing through shows recently. TBK winning the US Title is good, but I could never see it happening. Gail pinning Natalya made sense to show that Gail deserves a shot. Kane winning is fine because Kennedy's loss will be forgotten anyway. I hope Kane wins the title but I doubt it'll happen at Backlash. Like both MVP and Shelton, so didn't care much who won. Like the DX ending the show. Not going to lie, I'm more looking forward to the Backlash matches than the Wrestlemania ones.

SmackDown all around was a stacked show from top to bottom. Brian Kendrick winning the U.S. Championship is great. Gail Kim/Natalya should be solid. I can see Kim leaving with the gold to be honest. It sucks that HBK is leaving but you've handled his last few weeks well.
I, like Planet Charisma, am looking forward to Backlash more than I was to WrestleMania. To me the Backlash card just seems far more appealing. Here's hoping Kane wins the title, but I can't see you going that way.
