I felt like doing this after watching some 2004/05 PPVs and got thinking about it.
Superstars who had a chance or even two to go on and have at least one consistent main-event run with the WWE and generally hang in amongst the guys getting title shots and stuff and having decent feuds for a good few years.
Who do you think slipped through the WWE's fingers and blown any potential they had to be at least decent mid-carder fodder (IC/US championship)?
Guys who i would put in this category that are no longer employed by the wwe are:
Rene Dupree - 2004 - Cafe Rene really blew it for him, i really liked him and thought he should have beat Cena for the US title when he had his shot, it would have built him up nicely and he could have feuded with many more people as a singles star, instead he is no longer around.
Muhammed Hassan - 2005 - What can i say, other than i really digged him in 2005 and then he was gone because they screwed up badly. Could have gone far.
Maven - 2005 - Why couldn't Maven be pushed seriously, he could have been a real star with some force behind him.
Christian - 2005 - He should have beat Cena & Y2J at Vengeance in Vegas, he was on the verge of Edge-like status, now he's in TNA .
Sean O'Haire - 2003 - I feel the wwe really dropped the ball with him, badly.
Ones who are still employed by the WWE:
*Jeff Hardy* - 2008 - They had a chance to give him the strap at the Rumble and they didn't take it, an error i feel as it was just the right time for him to win, now i feel unless they build him up right again he will never hold it, i fear they will force him into a title match and have him win and it won't feel anywhere near as right as it would have felt had he won at Rumble.
Shelton Benjamin - 2004/05 - Look back to 2004/05 and he was on fire - they could have run and run with him gradually and steadily building up to a World title tilt, he is getting rebuilt a bit on ECW again but i feel he's never going to be given the chance in main-event matches again. Charisma? Chris Benoit, Batista, few others I'm sure, have been World champs so a lack in charisma on Shelton's part shouldn't really be a factor as to whether he could be world champion.
Elijah Burke - 2007/08 - Where the hell is he? The guy was steaming last year, now, nowhere.
I felt all had the potential to be World Champs with the E in their eras and then they all fell by the waist side for some reason or another.
Can anyone name others over the past few years that have been and gone in the wwe and never accomplished what they might have done if the wwe really ran with them?
If this needs explaining a bit more then just ask, but it's basically the ones that didn't "make it" but you feel could of been a star in the wwe's new era.
