If you really want to shake up the industry...the new line should be a "BEST OF" line that re-releases all of the past figures that are hard to find. Wave 1 would be: Kerry Von Erich Kevin Von Erich Harley Race Series 4 John Morrison Ringside Exclusive Bret Hart Ringside Exclusive CM PUnk Series 2 will probably include Kassius Ohno and Peyton Royce LOL The epitome of “going into business for yourself.” You didn’t get them at retail. Get over it. That’s how the game goes. Would you rather me go into business for someone else? Lol. Plus it clearly isn't a serious post....Actually come to think of it maybe it isn't that clear.

He is only sought after right now because he just came back. I think Mattel should literally buy all of the figures going for big money on Ebay and resell them at Target for $20. It is only fair for the big rich elites to pay their fair share. That way I can buy them at Target and resell them on Ebay....

Why do people still get surprised when Mattel “cancels” a line. They’re just spin offs of the elite line with a new coat of paint

It's funny to me how people get up in arms about these exclusive lines being "canceled". Hall of Champions, Network Spotlight....at the end of the day, they're both Elite lines of four that feature current and legend characters. It's just a different box people. I think that's sort of the point. These lines are "cancelled" to be replaced with something that is, for all intents and purposes, identical. Technically the TNF, Flashback, Network Spotlight, HoF, and HoC all had their own gimmick. But in most cases the figures were essentially interchangeable between lines. So why do they "cancel" and reboot the brands every two or three waves, when the product replacing it is the same damn thing? Brand identity and consistency matter in retail. It just feels like change for change's sake. I can't think of any other toy line structured like this. Black Series, Marvel Legends, Funko, and even going back to Classic Superstars - they've all essentially built their brand on uniformity. Sometimes it feels like Mattel tries to reinvent the wheel to their own detriment.

Let’s not have this spiral out of control. Network Spotlight was planned to end here. It wasn't cancelled. The new exclusive line will hit around June/July so there’s still plenty of time left for everyone to get the last wave. Once it’s revealed, I hope most of you get as excited about the new line as I already am. Is this an Elite line?

If it's still a Target Exclusive, it won't matter. They don't know how to get figures on the shelves, so they don't sell, and the line gets cancelled and replaced with another line that doesn't get to the shelves, therefor can't sell, and gets cancelled. Wash, rinse, repeat. Then they end up in Canada when Target flushes out their warehouses of all the cancelled product. Bottom line, get these figures to Amazon and RSC. They are the only ones who seem to understand that the idea is to actually sell the product. Amazon and RSC would be a dream come true, but for whatever reason Target will be the go to.

I won't get my hopes up for a Legends line ... I won't get my hopes up for a Legends line ... I won't get my hopes up for a Legends line ... Ahh, screw it. Come on, Legends line!

So why do they "cancel" and reboot the brands every two or three waves, when the product replacing it is the same damn thing? Mattel has made it pretty clear in the past it's the retailers dictating those decisions. It's all about selling to the retailers something to put on their shelves. "Well we already had this Hall of Champions line. What's next?" The buyers at retail most likely don't have a deep knowledge of WWE product and it's just easier to say, "Hey, we have this new idea! Figures that of stars featured on the Network or *insert another idea* here." It sounds fresh to them and is an easier sell. This is why we've seen Defining Moments and Entrance Greats recycled. They wore out their welcome at retail after their first runs...a couple years pass. It's a fresh idea again. Maybe the retailer has a new buyer and they have no memory of the previous line. There are so many variables and the end of the day, it's all about appeasing the retailers. Retail is a weird world. Not everything will make sense. Target can offer more money for exclusives than Ringside and Amazon doesnt want them because they dont have stores they need to get foot traffic into.

It would also be nice if the figures were more accessible at different stores

Would people rather just have the main elite line, albeit with the odd store exclusives/variants?
Or would people prefer these peripheral lines keep being given a shot?
Serious question.

Wfigs with any sort of news... Wouldn't it be funny if the replacement line was the "Best of the Figures You Could Never Find" series everyone's been begging for...now in affordable BASIC variety?!

People who get riled up about these lines ending need to realize that they are meant to end. They have their core lines and anything else is probably timed from the get. Stores always want something new and fresh

In theory - having a dedicated line would increase the chances of these being easier to find on shelves (versus a single exclusive figure being in a regular elite line), but it hasn't always worked out that way. I'm thinking of the last NXT Takeover elite series as one example.
