I know some of you have been or lived near major league teams but what about minor league teams. with me being in Virginia, we have no major league teams here but quite a few lower levels nearby. Firstly Roanoke has had hockey there for a long time. First team I remember growing up was the Roanoke Express ECHL I saw them twice, once as a kid with friends and once later. The team was highly entertaining and always very physical. Tons of hits and fights every game. The folded after being there a long time. Then a new team started play: saw the Vipers once but they weren't good and never tried to hit the other team. They didn't last long and kinda left in the middle of the night. The current team has been going on 2 years.. They seem to have good ownership, the father of the NHL's McGinn brothers(Jamie, Tye, and Brock). Made the playoffs this year but lost in first round. Plenty of nearby minor league baseball around. I think all are in single A ball been once a year to see Salem play, its fun going to see a game live. Others nearby plus here where I live they have a summer league baseball club(Valley League). which I have yet to see play but might go to game soon..

In PA I’m about 10 minutes from the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs. Phillies Triple-A team.
In NY the Hudson Valley Renegedes are literally two minutes down the road. I don’t remember which team they’re associated with, or which classification they are. Double-A at the highest tho.

Only team of note near me is a minor league hockey team. They're a big deal in the area but I'm not much of a hockey fan so I don't follow them. Also, 235guy - the Lumberjacks should be Booker T's favorite sports team ever. I mean, they're all jacked up and that's what Booker T likes. Heh heh.

We've got the Cubs Double A team here. I pretty much watched the entire Cubs World Series team in Double A. Kris Bryant was a beast down here. The team has been affiliated with other organizations so Ive gotten to see everyone from Kris Bryan, Starlin Castro to Jayson Werth & Yadier Molina to Roy Hallada & Carlos Delgado.
We've also got a "minor league" hockey team here that's won 4 Presidents cups. I dont think they're affiliated with any NHL teams though.

I wanna see the Curve at some point. See what players will get called up and traded after their first good game.

I know the Hershey Bears they are one the best AHL teams every year usually. Been Washington Caps affiliate for awhile. Also Roanoke had the Steam which was a minor league Arena football team and the Dazzle which were in the NBA D-League.. Update I did finally go to a Lumberjacks game on Sunday night, it was really fun and saw quite a few people I knew there which was cool..

Vegas has the 51s (AAA) minor league baseball team. They’re the affiliations for the Mets. A new ball park is being built for next season.

Said Klesko is one of the best guys you'll ever meet. Chipper on the other hand- total jerk... I miss the Braves, but I love my Squirrels!

I'm in Louisa county. Been to Richmond a million times, Potomac Nationals, Danville Braves, Norfolk Tides. Hoping to make it to Pulaski and Salem soon. How's the team store in Salem? I'm a sucker for Minor league merch. Hats, jerseys, shirts, I'll probably buy it... Haha. Great thread!!

I actually go to more UVA baseball games than anything, but it's still awesome seeing kids come through, move up, and hopefully see the big leagues.

I saw this post a while back but just realized you were talking about the Smokies. I love that ballpark. So pretty. And their team store is amazing. I stopped by last year and bought a jersey and hat.
