I'm not against PG at all. I just love wrestling.

Matches like Hell in a cell need blood but blood shouldn't be used in normal matches. Remember the RA era? Shawn Michaels must of got busted open in nearly every match.

The product was more popular and IMO better under the TV14 rating. Sure the match quality may be better now in some cases, but what is the WWE without characters and stories? The fact that the company is corporate and so desperate to be PC is what hurts it more than it's rating though.

The PG rating was never a problem for WWE. The problem, is the people writing the show has absolutely no idea what they're doing. The match quality has been great this era, but the storylines has sucked. This years embarrassment of a RTWM proves this. I agree, the storylines suck compare to the storylines back in the Ruthless Aggression Era. I think the main reason why the storylines suck now is cause of the whole being one brand instead of 2 brands (Smackdown and Raw) and each brand getting a separate PPV. You know the creative team will have to bust out some good storylines if WWE hopes to sell a PPV with one brand of Smackdown or Raw.

I think it has a lot to do with which era of wrestling you spent the majority of your time in. I think its safe to say the majority of the backlash against the PG rating would come from those who grew up with the Attitude Era. I was an early 90's kid, so the version of pro wrestling I grew up with and got my love for wrestling from was filled with pretty much everything the PG era eradicated. Not that the stuff today isn't good simply for that reason or anything, but I do think there will always be people who aren't in full support of it and most of which will be from that era. Just my thoughts on it.

The problem isn't the PG rating in and of itself. The problem is that the switch to PG just happened to coincide with one one of the worst creative eras in WWE history. Co-signed. WWE was already having creative problems and losing fans. The PG move only hastened WWE's free fall from cultural relevance.

The only reason im not a huge fan of the pg era is becuase I feel that the blood and edge to the product added a whole nother level of surrealism etc and I feel that kids who watch the shows now aren't getting all the cool stuff that made me (as a kid) fall in love with WWE.
In all fairness though, WWE have deffinately been more edgy and I like it, I think where they are now is much better.
