I am still moderately upset about Big Show winning the Battle Royal.
The Sting thing (lol rhyming) makes no sense. Sting interrupted The Authority at Survivor Series and the payoff is that Triple H wins? That's stupid.

I think we may be getting a rematch at SummerSlam, or something. I don't think Sting would want his lasting WWE memory to be a crapty, cluster frick of a match

I wasn't on here last night as I was watching the pay per view at my family's house. So this is my take on WrestleMania 31, for what its worth.
I wasn't planning on watching the preshow, because like I said, I was watching with my family and although they watch wrestling with me, they don't enjoy it as much as I do. So wasn't going to make them sit through 2 extra hours. But after it started I noticed no one was really watching tv, so I turned it on anyways and I'm glad I did. Not only were both matches entertaining, but my family seemed to get into them as well.
First I want to address the sunlight, I know a lot said they didn't like it, but I for one enjoyed it. It gave everything a different look, and was just another thing to help remind us that this was a special event. It actually took me back to the first ever WWF PPV that my brother and I saw on PPV, WrestleMania 9. The only problem I had with it was that I think it had a negative effect on some of the entrances.
Tag Title Match - This was a fun match, lots of spots in this one. I'm a big Cesaro/Kid, Usos, and Kofi Kingston fan, so I wasn't really rooting for anyone specific. I liked how Cesaro and Kid retained, nothing really underhanded but the blind tag makes you feel like they stole the win (without them having to cheat), which I think was the point. Now it will be interested to see which team will be the next challengers.
Battle Royal - I actually like that Big Show won this one. As others have stated, he's given us 20 years, so its cool to see him get something. It was cool to see Miz and Mizdow finally split up, looking forward to seeing how they progress with their feud now. Although I saw Axel's early elimination coming a mile away (it is WWE after all), I think they should have let him stay in it longer. I didn't want him to win, but it would have been nice to see him hang in there for a while. ( But WWE is never gonna use him as a serious competitor, they didn't do it when he was a Heyman guy and I don't see them starting now, even though some of the crowd seemed to be warming up to the AXELMANIA gimmick.
Intercontinental Ladder Match - Ladder matches are always awesome, and this one didn't disappoint. On a funny note, there was a point at the beginning of the match where someone got thrown over the top rope and I guess we were still in Battle Royal mode, because my nephew and I were both thinking "Well, he's eliminated". I loved Stardust's Mr Sinister inspired ring attire, I marked out a little as a wrestling and X-Men fan. Loved watching Harper climb the ladder with Ziggler on his back. Just like the tag title match, I'm a fan of so many guys in this match that I wasn't really rooting for anyone specific, but I gotta admit that there was a part of me wanting Truth to win. He's been entertaining during the build of this match and would be nice to see him to continue after Mania instead of going back to being a glorified jobber. Bryan winning was cool, although I think I would have rather seen him and Ziggler in the one on one match that was rumored earlier in the year. I'm hoping Ziggler wins a number one contenders match and we get that one on one match for the Intercontinental Title at Extreme Rules.
Rollins vs Orton - I missed part of this match as I was getting pizza at the time. But what I saw was pretty good. I like that Orton was in red and not his boring black that he's always in. The curb stomp into RKO was great.
Triple H vs Sting - I liked the entrances although both would have been better if it wasn't so light there. Triple H's was cool, but at the same time seemed a little goofy. The match was decent, however I think most of it was overshadowed by how odd it was to see Sting in a WWE ring. I loved the Monday Night War feel to it, especially getting to see DX vs NWO, although part of me was wondering why the NWO was helping Sting. I guess it would have been better storywise to have a more pro WCW group help Sting, maybe Luger, Flair, etc, but they honestly look older then NWO does......and it got us NWO vs DX so I'm not gonna complain. I wanted to see Sting win this, but going with the WWE vs WCW story it makes sense that he didn't. (On a side note: It would have been cool to see Hall/Nash side with HHH/DX/HBK and attack Hogan and Sting. Might have gotten us a cool NWO/DX Tshirt out of the deal. Oh well.)
AJ/Paige vs Bellas - Missed part of this match a we were also celebrating my nephew and sisters birthdays, as it was the first time everyone got to get together at the house in a while. What I saw was cool.
Rusev vs Cena - Was kinda disappointed with Cena's entrance, the video was cool but I thought there would be more to the actual entrance. The match was good, I'm starting to warm a bit more on Rusev each time I see him. I hated seeing Cena win, but as long as Rusev doesn't loose all the time now, Rusev can still be a dominate heel. Hoping they don't split Lana and Rusev after this as I'm not sure how Lana will fit in to the story. Her gimmick fits Rusev and I just don't know how it will be to see her paired up with someone else.
Undertaker vs Bray Wyatt - This one seemed like a typical Undertaker Mania match. It was awesome seeing Taker, as it is each year. I personally don't buy into the "What's the point? The streak is over" mentality. Granted it does loose a little bit of the magic with the streak being over, but going into the match it was 21-1....21...the guy went 21 Mania's without being beaten at Mania. That's still awesome and the 21 doesn't go away, just because of the 1. Also, I don't buy into the "Its gonna hurt Bray if he looses" mentality. He lost to the Undertaker.....the freakin' Undertaker! I think he'll survive losing a match to one of the biggest names in the history of this business.
Brock vs Reigns - I was really looking forward to this match, because i wanted to see how everything was handled.
I interrupt this match review for a small rant......
I feel a bit sorry for Roman Reigns, he gets this ultimate opportunity....a WWE title match....at the biggest show of the year. He gets an opportunity that if given the same opportunity, each and everyone of us would take it. And he gets booed in every arena, because he takes that opportunity. Now I fully agree with the argument that it's too soon for him, he has potential but his potential hasn't been sharpened enough to be in that spot. But as I stated...he was given an opportunity, that no wrestler in the world would turn down. (I'm sure he didn't come to Vince McMahon and say "Hey, can I be in the Mania main event?") And he gets booed for it. He gets booed by some because he's not ready. He gets booed by some because he isn't Daniel Bryan, because some believe Bryan should have been in this main event, and no matter who won the Rumble, they were gonna get booed. (I'm a big Bryan fan, so I'm not hating on Bryan fans.) And honestly I think he gets booed by some....because its the cool thing to do. And I know everyone has the right to cheer and boo whomever they want....that's not my problem with it. My problem is, will Reigns ever recover from this. Will he ever get to come back from this negativity that is coming his way not because he screwed up, but because he was given a opportunity. This guy has potential, and does have some entertaining moments in the ring (spearing the crap out of a in mid air Seth Rollins, a few weeks back on Raw, comes to mind), and I'm sure is working and trying to get better....but will he ever be given a fair opportunity now by the fans. I guess only time will tell. I hope he does, because although he isn't my favorite, I like the guy and want to see him grow and go places in this business.
ok....rant over...back to the match....
Brock vs Reigns - It was cool to see this match get physical. Lesnar throwing Reigns around like a rag doll, Reigns taking what Lesnar was throwing at him but not staying down, Lesnar getting a little color through the course of the match. It really helped make this match more interesting for me. Seeing Reigns kick out of the F5, made my first thought "The fans are gonna booo even louder if he wins." Seth Rollins cashing in mid match was perfect and was the best move that WWE could have made here. It gets the belt off Lesnar without him having to be beat. Seth steals the win from Reigns, which gives Reigns the chance to chase Rollins and the title. Although I know a lot are happy ( myself included) from a storyline point of view it makes Seth seem like a bigger heel, but sneaking in to the biggest match of the year and stealing the title away from both guys. And also it keeps Reigns from winning (makes the fans happy) but doesn't hurt how the WWE has got behind him and pushed him (makes WWE happy). Seth is now set up to with lots of top challengers for his title; Lesnar gets a rematch, Orton just beat Rollins earlier in the show so he has a right to want a show, and Rollins stole Reigns opportunity so he has a right to want a show at Rollins.
All in all, it was a really good show. They were able to take a show that didn't really have a lot of good build to it, and it turned out to be a really good show. I'm looking forward to see how things play out tonight on Raw as we all know the Raw following Mania is always special.

So....when Roman finally wins the belt, does that mean the lot of you will say the WWE sucks again??

All quick thought. Honestly I'm so into the NXT product that I go in with lower expectations for WWE PPVs. That made me enjoy this so much more. I loved it. I feel the exact same way, it made WM31 all the better. Now like a sucker, I'll watch Raw tonight expecting a great post-WM show and be severely disappointed. lol

I'm seeing alot of hype for this show, and i just don't get it. Cena Vs Rusev was a dead issue the night on Raw when Cena made him his prison bitch. HHH beating Sting in an illogical cluster was terrible and a waste of Sting's first ever WWE match. The handshake made it even worse. Orton Rollins was also a dead issue after we saw Orton already pay back Seth with a prison beating. Good match though. Seth winning the title is a joke. I get that he's a good flashy worker, but his voice and promo ability leave something to be desired. Perfect example of the kind of a guy who should be in the IC title mix, but he's a great worker so i'm sure this is a moot point for most. I just don't see a Superstar here, i see talent, but nothing screams star. The belt was fine on Lesnar. The main event of the night was taken away for a gimmicky cash in, i'm surprised everybody is cool with this. I was actually intrigued by the battle of the titans, even though i too don't think much of Roman right now. I loved Taker vs Bray though no doubt, that was the type of match i watch wrestling for. Bray has the look, the charisma, the size, love this dude. Losing to Taker won't hurt him at all imo. So out of the entire card, i was satisfied by one match and confused and disgusted by most. Not sure why everyone is so happy, but to each his own.

The joint I was at didn't air the preshow, but Kidd/Cesaro retaining seems like the right step even if it's a bit disheartening for the tag team titles to be this season's throwaway title. No reason for Show to win the Battle Royal, but then, by that same token, there's no reason for that Battle Royal to really exist.
The ladder match was fun for what it was (an overcrowded, predictable spot show) and did the job of kicking the show off in high gear. The Ambrose bump looked nasty to me - hope he's alright. As much as I love Bryan, he wouldn't have been my pick to slap the title on, but I get what they're doing, and I hope it works so that one day that title can be used properly again.
Rollins and Orton was a lot of fun to watch. These guys are clear examples of the things WWE can get right and this match was a picturesque look at what the landscape of the WWE's top talent picture should look like. That last RKO spot was exciting as hell even if the setup was slightly sloppy.
I was surprised to see Sting and HHH on so early in the show. I was not surprised at how much I groaned, cringed, and rolled my eyes during this match. I'm a total product of the Attitude Era, and 14 years ago, this would have been right up my alley, but good Lord, man. HHH is a knob. That entrance was AWFUL. The DX spot made some sort of sense. The nWo?! Come on. A little more sensical mileage would have come out of DDP and Goldberg or something like that. The finish? Total McMahon chest beating. Yeah, yeah. You won a war that's been over for 14 years. That much has been established. Moving on is hard to do. Let's try it, shall we?
Divas match. Eh. You'll never get me into women's wrestling. Just never has been my bag. No denying there's some talented young women doing what they do, but it's just not for me. AJ and Paige are fun to look at though, and AJ's music is as catchy as the day is long. No harm, no foul.
Again, I think everyone knew that Cena was going over Rusev. Doesn't mean I have to like it. I like to think I'd know what to do in the booker's place, but after making him go undefeated for so long, I'm not sure where Rusev goes from here, and that sucks, 'cause I love what he has going on. Same token as the IC, I get what they're attempting to do here, but ehhh...Cena? Doesn't do him any favors at this point. I'd have been better with this being Swagger's moment.
Good Christ the Redeemer that Authority/Rock/Rousey promo was long, dragged out, and unnecessary. Rousey's a looker for a tough chick, though.
Going by my same token with Cena, it did Undertaker no favors here to go over a guy almost 20 years his junior. That's not to discount the fact that he looked great, and that he could probably still go another two years, but a Wyatt win here would have felt like a solid endorsement of the Undertaker backing Wyatt as the new big scary in town, and the way this played out almost like a squash, I'm kinda bummed that maybe Mark can't see it that way.
I can't have asked for the main event to have gone any differently. That's all there is to it for me. Roman got his moments, but by and large was crushed, the crowd was firmly in Lesnar's pocket, and Seth got the moment that Roman just wasn't ready for yet.
That's not to say he never could be, and I'm sure Reigns is a bit weepy this morning, but some guys toil for YEARS before getting the call. There's no reason it has to be over for him if he uses his time to really hone his craft.
Overall, I had a lot of fun watching the show. First PPV I've watched live and in full since 2005, so there's that too.

I rewatched Triple H/Sting last night thinking maybe I'd been too hard on it the first time. Nope. I thought everything from the DX interference on was awful.

Whoever booked that main event should get a raise.
That was the absolute BEST thing they could have done. All this talk about Reigns and he gets the ever living crap kicked out of him. Now kicking out of 2 F-5's and getting hit with everything Lesnar had but still managing to superman up was Cena-esque...but they couldn't have him get completely squashed so it worked.
I bet Reigns got some fans back now that we realize he isn't going to be just handed the WWE title for doing NOTHING. Giving him a chance to "chase" will help his cause. Do I still want him to be the next big superstar? absolutely not, he's not THAT good, and probably never will be....but I'm more OK with him getting a push this way rather than just being gifted everything.

I screamed my ass off during Seth's cash in, it didn't end well.
I got yelled at for screaming "SENSUAL SETH METAL" at 4:00am by my parents.

As much as I loved the show, and I stand by it as a top 5 for me, I can't help but to keep fantasy re-booking the Sting/HHH match in my head. I wish Sheamus had been the deciding factor. Could have had DX and the NWO brawl far enough up the ramp to make them a non-factor. Sting gets the upper hand. Just as he's about to level Hunter with the bat....cue Sheamus coming through the crowd to deliver a brogue kick to Sting. HHH wins. Sheamus is immediately established as a fresh believable authority enforcer. He is then tasked with neutralizing a pissed off Lesnar down the road.

LOL WOOOOOW. Between this and Sting losing, worst PPV ever. Canceling the Network right now. It's obvious that you're trolling. Eh half and half. I was cancelling the network regardless of how the PPV turned out. I don't enjoy WWE enough these days to pay for it for a whole year. But for Wrestlemania it was worth it. Although this year was a disappointing PPV imo. Undertaker vs. Bray was fantastic though! As was the Rousey segment.

I just realized this, Seth now has the best WM record out of all the members of The Shield. Ambrose: 2-1 Reigns: 2-1 Rollins: 3-1 Yet they were all undefeated 24 hours ago :/

I loved a small detail like Orton's attire. He used to wear it in 2004, when he was considered the future of the company and HHH's protégé. He wore it again last night against Rollins, elbowpads included.
