UPDATE: Straight from Japan (with a classy receipt, too): I wonder what's inside? Pro Kaku fever: let's open the package and see who we got. Nifty packaging: all six mini big heads came packaged in their own shrink wrap (not original, mind you) and their own shelf holders. First up, the father of Puroresu: Rikidozan. The Rikidozan Mini Big Head figure comes from vol. 5. and is only one of five figures to feature a championship belt. Of course, the Rikidozan figure wouldn't be complete without... ...Rikidozan's most famous rival: The Destroyer! Next up: Mini Big Heads "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and Bruiser Brody. Steve Williams comes from Vol.9. while Bruiser Brody comes from Vol.5. The Steve Williams figure comes complete with a tough, "ready to fight" facial expression and skull emblem on his wrestling trunks. The Bruiser Brody figure is exceptionally detailed; recreating Brody's chain swinging, wild entrance; complete with tied back hair, vest, elbow pads, boots ...and even the scars engraved into his forehead! Saying both of these Mini Big Head figures stand out would be an understatement. Another throwback: Mini Big Head Keiji Mutoh The Keiji Mutoh Mini Big Head comes from Vol.7. and is based off of Mutoh's early, pre-NWO years in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Overall, another well designed figure which showcases one of many incarnations of Keiji Mutoh throughout his legendary career. Dare to pair Keiji with his alter ego? Saving the best for last: the Great Muta mail-away figures. The actual advertisement piece. In 2004, Character Product inserted an advertisement piece into the Japanese wrestling magazine "Weekly Pro Wrestling" giving wrestling fans the chance to purchase two "limited edition" "mail away" Mini Big Head figures. The issues that featured this magazine were: September 7 issue (No.1277), September 14 issue (No.1278) and, September 21 issue ( No.1279). Using the application ticket included in the above Weekly Pro Wrestling magazines (along with an additional 500 yen postage), the reader could choose between selecting The Great Muta (clear pink Spider Version) or The Great Muta (clear black Jason X version). Both Great Muta mail-away figures are repaints taken from the much sought after Vol.1. Both figures feature a cool, see-through touch. The Clear Pink Spider Muta features pink with gold trim while the clear black Jason X Muta features an interesting mix of black and silver. Posed with their Vol. 1.5 counterparts. The Muta mail-away figures are Pro Kaku must haves. Stay tuned...

$8 sounds great, but I don't need $50 worth of stuff. Thanks though.

UPDATE: Another parcel has just arrived from Japan. Well packed. Let's open the box and see what we got. More mini figure goodies. I wonder what's in the mystery box. Hardcore: The Sheik vs Terry Funk from the "Martial Arts Pro-Wrestling Figure Collection" and is still mint in the packaging. The Sheil vs. Terry Funk mini figures (collection 4) are part of a ten figure set (nine regular "collections" plus one "secret" collection to collect). Playing with fire: the Arabian Madman comes complete with pencil weapon (left hand) and his iconic special attack: the ball of fire. The Martial Arts figures are made by the company Boford; the same company responsible for the Georgia Emblem coffee promotional mini figures. In a tough spot: Terry Funk on the defense of The Sheik's fire attack. Some say Funk's matches with The Sheik inspired Funk to rebrand himself into the hardcore legend he would later become famous for. The Sheik vs Terry Funk figure set is definitely a must for any old school hardcore wrestling fan as it marks a pivotal part in the growing popularity of hardcore wrestling. Next up: Keiji Mutoh Mini Big Head figure. The Keiji Mutoh figures from the hard to find Vol 1 and 1.5 is based off of Mutoh's All-Japan Pro Wrestling debut. From his signature "pro wrestling love" taunt to his collage style wrestling trunks, the Keiji Mutoh figure is highly detailed. More figures on their way. Stay tuned...

UPDATE: Another parcel has arrived. What's this? Could it be ...another minifigure? IWGP Champion Big Van Vader minifigure complete with turnbuckle, coffee lid display stand and instructions/completion list. The included instructions also showed off the 12 standard figures to collect along with the special mystery figure (spoiler: Shinya Hashimoto) and a brief bio on the current (at the time) IWGP champion: Kensuke Sasaki. The back of the instructions featured a promotion where caps of Georgia coffee could be sent in for redeemable prizes such as autographed merchandise, fight gear and action figure related accessories. Like a boss: the seller also included this as a gift: a BOSS Coffee keychain (which reminds me of the infamous Ribera Jackets wrestlers in Japan would wear). The Vader minifigure assembled atop his coffee stand; complete with NJPW sticker advertising the special minifigure promotion. In 2005, the IWGP Former Champion figures were not sold in stores. The figures came randomly packaged exclusively in select blends of Georgie Emblem Coffee underneath a specialized lid (mystery box style). The IWGP Vader minifigure is perhaps the only minifigure to feature Vader with his signature Mastodon helmet. Overall: another well designed minifigure and a fine example of the incredible popularity of Pro Wrestling in Japan. Put to scale: the IWGP Former Champion minifigures are the same scale as Boford's other figure line "Martial Arts Pro Wrestling Figure Collection" minifigures. The IWGP Former Champion minifigures are also compatible with the "Martial Arts Pro Wrestling Figure Collection's" ring making a nice alternative stand. Stay tuned for more figure updates coming your way.

UPDATE: WHAT A RUSH: two new minifigures have just arrived. Classic Road Warrior look: Road Warrior Hawk and Animal Georgia Emblem minifigures inspired from the Road Warrior's NWA/WCW attires. Released in 2004 alongside the IWGP Former Champion minifigures, the Georgia Emblem minifigures came packaged inside cans of Georgie coffee as promotional, not for sale items. Just like the IWGP figures, every figure was randomly inserted into Georgia Coffee cans with 10 figures to collect (9 standard + 1 mystery figure: Abdullah The Butcher). Scale wise, the Georgia Emblem figures are slightly smaller than the Wrestling Figure And Ring set (pictured in back) with bases that can be removed and a peg at the bottom of each of their feet. Even got an indentical bonus gift from the seller. Think I'll add the second Takada to my keys. More updates are coming your way.

I have been looking at those figs and I was wondering if the heads are big enough to fit on a Jakks or Mattel body.

Myself, I think the Mini Big Heads would be too small yet... ...a couple years ago, a forum member here by the name of charlottegray created this Great Muta mod using the head of a Mini Big Head Great Muta and the body of a toybiz action figure. I believe the figure line was related to the WCW: I wish I could be of better help to you.

UPDATE: Just in time for the holidays. Two parcels ready to be opened. Early Christmas? 22 figures have just arrived. Let's see who we got. First up: Mini Big Head Mil Mascaras (A) and (B) figures. Both figures come from Vol. 5 featuring Mil in his entrance and ring attires. Both figures feature a noticeable silver paint finish highlighting their paint scheme. This lucha trio makes a great addition to any wrestling figure collection. Parcel #2: I was also able to grab a second Mil Mascaras (B) figure through a Yahoo Japan Auction mint in it's original shrinkwrap with matching Vol. 5. booklet. It wasn't easy. After dealing with a lot of hassels and headaches (see previous posts in this thread about the Mil figure), I've decided to keep this Mil Mascaras in it's original wrapping. The matching Vol.5. booklet showcasing the entire vol.5. collection to collect. Another NJPW sticker which came as a gift with parcel #2. Teacher and student: Mini Big Head Karl Gotch and Antonio Inoki figures. Both figures come from Vol. 5. The Antonio Inoki figure is inspired by Inoki's early years as a professional wrestler. Both figures serve as a fine example of Character Product's habit of recreating Puro- history in figure form. Entrance savages: Mini Big Head Tiger Jeet Singh and Bruiser Brody (A) figures. Since I've already covered the Bruiser Brody figure in one of my last posts, let's take a look at the Tiger Jeet Singh Mini Big Head figure. The Tiger Jeet Singh Mini Big Head figure comes from Vol.5. and features Tiger's classic entrance attire complete with saber, turban, brown garb and crazed look. Dare to add the "bloodthirsty tiger" to your collection? Pro wrestling innovators: Mini Big Head Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami figures. Both figures also come from Vol.5. and are very well detailed. The Jumbo Tsuruta figure comes complete with entrance jacket sporting Jumbo's name on the left side of Jumbo's jacket and Jumbo's signature "OOOH" taunt. The confident looking Fujinami figure is modeled after Fujinami's earlier years as a wrestler. As an added bonus, the back of Jumbo's jacket contains an Olympics logo symbolizing Jumbo Tsuruta's involvement in the 1972 summer Olympics in Munich, Germany. Last up: Mini Big Head Masa Saitoh and Killer Khan figures. Both figures come from Vol. 5. The Killer Khan figure especially stands out with his signature attack: the Mongolian Chop. As Masa Saitoh would often say will you "go for broke" and add this figures to your collection (side note: who else thinks the Killer Khan figure could be turned into an Iron Sheik custom?) PART 2 coming shortly!

UPDATE part 2: Mini Big Head Koji Kanemoto and Shinjiro Ohtani figures. The Koji Kanemoto figure comes from Vol.4 while the Shinjiro Ohtani figure comes from Vol. 6. I especially like the pose and sword of the Ohtani figure. Very cool. Shinjiro Ohtani's jacket is also eye-catching with it's mixture of red and black with a scale texture finish. Joshi fever: more Mini Big Head figures still sealed. Let's open them. Mini Big Head Akira Hokuto B and C figures. Since the Akira Hokuto C figure (entrance attire) has already been reviewed in a previous post in this thread, let's focus on the Akira Hokuto B (ring attire) figure. The Akira Hokuto B figure comes from Vol.8 and features Akira in her classic ring attire. Complete with her long, wavy hair, makeup and a look that says "I'm number one". The Akira Hokuto figure is an essential addition to Joshi and Puroresu fans' figure collections. Next up: Mini Big Head Kyoko Inoue and Aja Kong figures. Both figures come from Vol.8. and are very colorful. The Kyoko Inoue Mini Big Head features a crowd inciting "I can't hear you" taunt complete with fringed ring wear while the Aja Kong Mini Big Head features Kong in a Lariat pose. I especially like Kong's Ultimate Warrior/Surfer Sting-esque facepaint. The Kyoko Inoue and Aja Kong Mini Big Heads figures easily stand out and are another essential adds to any Joshi/Puroresu collection. It's just a shame that Character Product never got around to releasing a Bull Nakano Mini Big Head for Vol.8. LARIATOOO: Kyoko Inoue on the receiving end of Aja Kong's Lariat. And, finally: Japanese wrestling erasers. I was drawn to these erasers simply because they reminded me of the mini M.U.S.C.L.E. /Kinnikuman figures from the 1980's; and, would you believe it ...that was the intention. In the Kinnikuman community these figures are known as Kinkeshi (Kinnikuman erasers) and are a popular collectible in Japan since the 1970's. The Pro-Wrestling erasers were randomly inserted in blind-box packaging and featured several different monochromatic colors to collect. The first three are Tiger Mask erasers. From left to right: fighting stance, entrance pose and running figures. The erasers look strikingly similar to their Mini Big Head counterparts. I wouldn't be surprised if Character Product also created these erasers. Hakushi (left) and Jinsei Shinzaki erasers. From what I could gather, there were two lines of erasers released. The first line featured various wrestlers in chibi form (presumably from the early 80's) and the second line at a slighly less deformed and taller scale (released back in 2004). The first line of erasers featured wrestlers such as: Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Abdullah the Butcher, Terry & Dory Funk, Giant Baba, Bruiser Brody etc... It's also not uncommon to see fan-made custom paint jobs for these erasers. I'd love to get my hands on the Great Kabuki eraser. For size comparison: the Hakushi eraser next to his Mini Big Head counterpart. From the size of the erasers to the level of detail and variety of wrestlers available to collect, I was quite impressed. Will definitely be looking out for more in the future... More figures on their way. Stay tuned...

Double UPDATE + a horror story: Two parcels have arrived from Japan. Parcel #1: Mini Big Head Great Muta (Spider Version) complete in original shrinkwrap and matching pamphlet purchased from Buyee. The shrinkwrap contains an AJPW sticker circa 2004. The Great Muta Mini Big Head comes from Vol.1. and features Muta in his 2003 AJPW Spider attire. The extended green tongue and lips add a creepy touch to this figure. The design of the Spider Muta figure features the words "Great Muta" name scralled in Kanji on the left side of Muta's mask; reminiscent of Muta's original facepaint from the late 80's to late 90's. Eventhough Muta's spider mask is basically an amplified version of his original facepaint, I've always considered the Spider look closer to that of Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street series: Maybe it's just me? Muta's mask also features a large demonic spider-skeleton which wraps itself around the entire mask from front to back. The three variations of the Mini Big Head Great Muta Spider version (Vol. 1, Mail-away, Vol. 1.5.). My first experience with Buyee:As I already mentioned earlier, I purchased the Spider Muta from Buyee; which is a Japanese "Middleman" service that allows people outside of Japan to bid and make purchases on items from sites like Rakuten and Yahoo auctions. While Buyee does eliminate the need to search for a bidding agent, here are a few cons that I thought I should share with everyone from my first experience: 1.) If you are bidding on more than one item and your "method of payment" (credit card, paypal) does not have enough money to complete payment by the end of the first auction, you will be forced to make payment on the first item you won before you can bid on any other auction.
2.) To make matters worse, if you are still bidding on items while the first payment needs to be completed, your bid will be retracted until payment of the first auction you won is completed. Which could be the difference between winning or losing an auction. Conveniently, both of the auctions that I was bidding on were ending within ten minutes of one another. I won the first auction and was instantly met with a notification from Buyee informing me to make payment on the item immediately. Being used to Ebay's 5-day-to-pay policy, I paid not attention to the notification and continued to bid on one other item. The second auction was just moments away from closing; I was still winning the auction when I noticed something odd: my winning bid had just been removed.
To add insult to injury, the auction was extended an extra five minutes while I fumbled to correct the proper method of payment (in my case, my credit card) ;but, by the time everything was in order, the auction was already finished (insert sad Violin music). 3.) Buyee's shipping charges can be VERY expensive. While the Buyee service for each item is on par with Ebay, the shipping charges are just insane. For example: a standard bubblewrapped letter packet from Japan using registered airmail regularly costs about $5 USD. Through Buyee the exact same shipping conditions came to $24 USD! Having said that, I can only recommend using Buyee in the rare instance that there is an item that you really want, can't find anywhere else and don't have a connection in Japan to buy the item for you. I have also read reviews from other buyers who have recommended other Japanese Middlemen services such as ShoppingMallJapan in comparison to Buyee's steep shipping costs. Any thoughts or experiences of your own (feel free to share)? Part 2 coming soon...

UPDATE: From Japan, two new Mini Big Heads have arrived. Hard to find: Mini Big Head Big Van Vader and Tiger Mask H figures. Going back to my last update which talked about my unpleasant experience using Buyee, it should be noted that one of the figures I was bidding on was, in fact, a Big Van Vader Mini Big Head. I was lucky to have a second chance at tracking down this figure through the great people at C&M Treasure Box; checking off another hard to find figure from my checklist. Both figures come from Vol. 9. and feature each legend's iconic entrance pose. The Vader Mini Big Head figure was inspired by Big Van Vader's Championship run with the All-Japan Pro Wrestling promotion and even features Vader's classic catchphrase "Vader Time" written on the front of Vader's singlet. While the Tiger Mask H Mini Big Head was based off of the original Tiger Mask's 2007 return to the ring with an updated attire and body mold. Both figures are well designed. I especially dig the pattern of Tiger Mask's cape. As a bonus, I was also given this Joshi Trading Card as a gift with my order. More figures are on their way. Stay tuned....

UPDATE:
A new parcel has arrived from Japan and I already dig the stamps. What's even better than Japanese stamps? Tons of Puroresu figures covered in Bubblewrap. Package #1 of 5: Mini Big Head fever. Mini Big Head Rikidozan A (entrance attire) and Osamu Kido figures. Both figures come from Vol. 5. of the Prokaku Mini Big Head series. Rikidozan's entrance robe features the outline of a fierce, growling tiger as seen in Character Product's larger figure variant: An impressive design even by Character Product's high standards. Next up, Mini Big Head Brother Yasshi figure. The Brother Yasshi Mini Big Head comes from Vol. 6. and features Yasshi's violent, in your face attitude to a T. Classy: Brother Yasshi's model has always reminded me of Toshiie Kazama's (Toshiaki Kawada) portrait in Fire Pro-Wrestling III: Legend Bout. From his dreadlocks, to his braided goatee and proudly displayed middle fingers, the Brother Yasshi figure is well designed adding variety to the Mini Big Head line. Andy Hug Keychain in original packaging. The front of the keychain strap features the inscription "K-1 WORLD GRANDPRIX" . I assume these keychains were sold as promotional items leading up to or as souvenirs directly from the event. While on the back of the keychain, cartoonish portraits of K-1 legends like Cro-Cop, Hoost and Hug line the strap of the Keychain. The Andy Hug Keychain features Andy's wrestling trunks and iconic "Axe Kick" pose. If you look close enough, you can even see Andy's name written on the front of Andy's trunks. The Axe Kick: I'd be backing off, too. Scale wise, the Andy Hug Keychain is on par with the Japanese PRIDE Keychains and offers great detail. Hmmm...now to track down an Ernesto Hoost and Cro-Cop Keychain... Speaking of legends: Yoshiaki Fujiwara Eraser. The Yoshiaki Fujiwara Eraser features Fujiwara in his classic ring gear complete with buzzed haircut, wrestling trunks and stand-out ring-shoes. This Eraser is guaranteed to put any other Figure Eraser in a patented Fujiwara Armbar. Package 2 of 5: HAO Collection Great Muta "The Spider Ver."
The Great Muta Spider Version figure was created by HAO Arts Office in 2005 and features Muta's 2003 "Spider" gimmick. Like all HAO figures, the Great Muta Spider figure is very well detailed and stands over 7 inches. The front and back of the packaging features many high quality photographs, a brief profile and a list of Muta's championship wins. Fact: based on the coolness of the packaging, fans have been known to keep the packaging even after opening up the HAO figures. Size does matter: the HAO Spider Muta next to the Spider Muta Mini Big Head figure. Stay tuned for more updates...
