To cm sucks fans. Every casual fan I converse with doesn't talk about him. Fans of yesteryear don't talk about him. The only ones who talk about him is his fanboys and cold hearted truth realists, like myself. He's old news and overrated. The supposed number two guy in an industry with a dwindling fanbase. He's nothing. He quit. Get over it. Dwindling fanbase? CM Punk's fanbase has risen since his days in Ring of Honor and IWA-MS. One of many reasons why people revere Punk a lot is what he had to overcome since being signed by the WWE in 2005. The machine wanted no part in Punk. It wasn't until guys like Paul Heyman, Mick Foley, Ricky Steamboat, and Shawn Michaels saw something in Punk and his abilities. Yet, your call yourself a realist? The last person I've seen call himself a realist isn't much of a realist at all. You are just going to have to deal with the fact CM Punk's departure is going to be one of the biggest news stories of 2014. Punk made a name fro himself by breaking through that proverbial glass ceiling. If Punk wasn't able to flourish, the WWE wouldn't have signed guys like Cesaro, Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn, Kevin Steen, Adrian Neville, KENTA, Prince Devitt, Solomon Crow, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins. Punk started a revolution that allowed guys from the indys to make it to the main stage. Moreover: I challenge everybody here to disagree with this post. You typed all that when I clearly said, "an industry with a dwindling fanbase."

I don't necessarily think wrestling has a dwindling fan base. The WWE has put their name out there more since 2008 than they have in quite some time. Their fan base is more of the nostalgic crowd and kids clamouring to see their version of Hulkamania with the Cenation..
The reason why people aren't over Punk quitting is because they are passionate, which occasionally borders on obsession. If Hogan walked out in 1985, and the internet was around then, we would be posting and complaining to no end.
I'm not saying Punk is as big as Hogan, nobody is and doubt they ever will be. But a guy with a passionate fan base walked out on them for reasons I can understand(now that we have clarity in his reasons). I'm a Punk fan through and through and I hate that he left the way he did. But, he has to do what's best for him.
I get where fans feel like they've been cheated or bamboozled by his sudden retirement. But its not up to us to decide what's best for anyone other than themselves. Austin did the same thing 12 years ago and he seems to be forgiven. Hopefully you can find it in your heart to realize that there are so many more constructive things to do than to criticize Punk for decisions that aren't up to you or me.
