King of Kings In my conversations with Dave, to paraphrase he stated that he & Reggie are in business to make a living from thier craft, and that a deal with Mattel for any of their artwork, is better than no deal at all and that they are more than will to form a deal that is good for all parties involved. jeffro2000 Joe Marshall stole Reggie's artwork plain and simple, I've had this conversation with Dave Millican. Durring Kensuke Sasaki's reign wcw hired Joe Marshall to redo the United States championship belt, he made different side plates and stole Reggie's center plate design and enlarged it. How they let him get away with that legally is beyond me. As you stated the Reggie U.S. belt will work just fine with all the possible names we've been brainstorming. That's crazy, Jmar also stole the Reggie IC design and slightly altered it for Cody's belt too. Although they didn't let that slide and WWE has since changed the belt for TV, but the figure belts are still using the Jmar version.

Yeah, I always wondered why they didn't sue Marshall/WCW for ripping off the design. I guess they didn't care as much about then. They obviously stopped them when they (Jmar/WWF) redid the classic IC for Cody. Thanks for the info though. I know people are quick to point out that Mattel isn't allowed to make (insert) belt, but they have never had a problem before it seems when dealing with Midwest (Winged Eagle, Classic IC, Tag, now Hogan 86). I think the ball is really in Mattel's/WWE's court when it comes to making these WCW belts.

jeffro2000 I couldn't have worded it better brother! And last I heard doesn't Vince McMahon own wcw? So there is no roadblock as far as company rights goes. This is all just Mattel & Dave/Reggie working a deal and WWE giving it a simple approval RV F'N D WOW! Even I wasn't aware of this! Can you post reference pics of the cody version & current version- :EDIT: I did some Google'ing and I see that there was some slightly different features on the cody belt, then around when Bad News Barrett got it, suddenly it has the classic Reggie look and is almost exactly the HBK/Double J 95 white I.C. belt

Yeah the most noticeable difference between the 2 IC belts is that Jmar's had the Nugget texture. They changed it very quickly, I think even while Cody still had it.
WWE did continue to use the JMar one for some photo shoots and it was the house show belt too. It may still be, so it was the one that the champ would carry with him on the road to signings/house shows/etc.

I dont think you'll ever see a WWE guy in WCW attire other than Hollywood Hogan because he was so iconic. We'll see with the Jericho FB. I dont think they'll go back to his WCW days, I would love it but I dont think they will. They did do a Macho nWo. But again nWo is iconic. I consider Nash as WCW, Hall probably had more success as Razor though. Who knows. Theire doing a Rey Rey flashback to WCW so I'm probably totally wrong. But if they wanted to put in another Rey Rey figure they really had nowhere else to go. I don't think it has anything to do with WCW attire, we have gotten a few WCW attired guys already - Kevin Nash - Cruiserweight Rey - Bret Hart (close enough to WCW attire) - DDP - nWo Macho - The Giant - Arn Anderson I don't think its entirely out of the question to get more WCW themed guys in the future. With the exception of The Giant and nWo Macho, those are all guys I think of as WCW guys. I don't count Bret Hart because those were all WWE attires and his WCW gimmick was the same. I kinda treat Bret Hart's WCW days like Michael Jordan's Washington Wizards days. They just don't count. Since FB are limited for the time, I see WWE only using their gimmicks. Think we'd be more than likely to see a Ringmaster than a Stunning Steve. Plus Austin bashes those gimmicks on his podcast.

Second, Bill has already stated he's working very hard trying to get Barry Windham into the line. What do you think, Barry is going to be in his WWE "The Stalker" attire?

We're more likely to get Austin in his Hollywood Blonds attire than either of those Austin gimmicks, hopefully as part of a set with Pillman. If they do a "Rocky Maivia" version of Austin it's going to be from 1993 imo. That's something I would be in favor of seeing Mattel try and get us. I love your Bret Hart to Michael Jordan comment by the way. I don't really think of Bret as Jordan by any means but that's a pretty great analogy. I'm good with a number of these comments. We need Barry, Raven, Scott Steiner, an upper midcard/main event version of DDP, Jeff Jarrett, Goldberg, Scott Hall, Sid, Lance Storm, Konnan, a new Rick Rude (although that would likely be from WWF circa 89) I mean any number of guys could be appropriate for this title. I'm not holding my breath but it would be awesome to see this belt get made. I'll never complain about more WCW guys, ever, and I think the US Title is widely considered one of the best designs of all time.

Thanks so much for this insight.
I would love a classic WCW United States belt for figures (as well as other classic WCW belts). Please Mattel, do what Jakks couldn't - make it happen!

if they have the rights to WCW belts......then why does e32 Rey come w/ the WWE version of the cruiserweight belt? The Cruiserweight belt is a joe Marshall belt. This thread begins with an email from Dave Millican/Reggie Parks of Midwest who have working deals with Mattel and would like to expand their agreement with Mattel (given the opportunity) on more of the classic belts that thier company has created. (Not Joe Marshall at JMAR Belts)
