As I've always stated, if you are embarrassed or ashamed of your hobby, it's time to find a new hobby. I am 26 years old and still buy wrestling figures and have never onced cared what other people think of it.

I am almost 40 and I am not ashamed of my collection. My wife doesn't care for it, but that okay. I don't much care for the decorative frogs all over the kitchen, living room, bathroom, garage, etc. Furthermore, punch your dad in the head for being a basher, man-up and quit having mommy buy your figs, and if the boy toy don't get it and is threatened by 6 inches of plastic, find a new one. For anyone else that reads this, sorry for the Mick Foley-esque rant. There was a dill-doe refrence there, right? Because of the younger readers on here i won't give you a straight answer. Read Mick Foley's autobiographies "Have a Nice Day" and "Foley is Good" for the answer.

To be honest... I don't share with friends that I have wrestling figures.... and I wouldn't want my boss to catch me perusing here during work hours. But whatevs.

I'm surprised nobody's said something like "Ha! you're gay!"
Well done, WF.

While I agree with u,ur karma is not any better. He has been here since Today. I've been here 10 months. Can you honestly compare? And i have been on here for almost 8 years now. Your point? To the other dude, just tone down explaning your lifestyle. We get it, no need to always bring it up. But to the topic, i keep some of it a secret. Not ashamed, i just get tired of hearing crap from people who spend on stuff that i really dont understand why they do. Not going to stop me though.

I don't give two s**ts if they like it or not really. My life, my money. This. Everyone has things they like. And there will always be people that dont like it. My wife doesn't understand the appeal, but she herself is a collector of shoes and purses. I should show her collection. Puts my fig collection to shame lol Do you purposely buy her something right before a new set goes up for pre-order? I'll get my wife a new pair of shoes, then when I tell her I want to order something she doesn't have the heart to say anything. It works beautifully.

Just though I'd add to what I previously said, in regard to those who hide the fact that they collect. I have my figs on display in the Mattel ESR and on an old Raw stage so whenever friends come round, they can see it if in that particular room (2nd lounge) and I've had comments like "aren't you too old for toys?" a few times, but after that I usually get complimented on the collection and poses etc simply because a lot of my friends are wrestling fans but don't collect anything (not even DVDs).

@marino- Great strategy you got there lol.
And I don't really have any shame over my MMA collection. I have a ton of Jakks and Round 5 UFC figures neatly displayed. The bigger eyesore is my custom work bench with Mattel figures lying around. None of the girls I've dated seem to really care though. Especially when we get to talking and they find out about the decent income that I get from the hobby.
If you don't let the hobby define you, you'll be just fine. For me, the figures are just figures. I love them, and I enjoy adding to my collection. But I don't put them above anything/anyone. Most decent people aren't going to care about the hobby if you aren't letting it run your life. If your bills are paid, and you aren't telling your girl "maybe next week honey" when it comes to going out because you're blowing money on toys, there won't be much problems.

Bottom line is, you don't need to make what you do privately your only defining trait, it isn't your whole identity, or anybodies whole identity...there should be more to you than that, figure that out. You don't owe anybody any explanations, and nobody here seems to care. Everybody here is into wrestling figs so we are not going to judge anybody else on it, so just talk about that, if you can add to a topic or have a question, post something and most peeps here are pretty helpful.

Im gonna be 30 next month, I still collect AND occasionally play with my wrestling figures. My girlfriend mostly supports me collecting figures, usually she gets on my case if she finds me receiving a lot of figs in the mail in a short time, more a financial thing than anything else. I do buy her figures too occasionally, she mostly has Hasbro figs, but has a small mix of Jakks figs; Hardyz, Lita, Piper, she has a boxed BCA Taker hanging on the living room wall, so it evens out.
If I advertised my collection outside of sites like this and I caught flack for it I couldnt care less, of course I look somewhat unconventional and ppl tend to not mess with me out on the street anyway.
If youre seeking attention, youre gonna get it, just dont bitch about it when you do

You've got to have fun every now and again, and most grown money have TOYS that they like to play with too haha I also look unconventional so to speak, I'm a rocker/metalhead and also a biker so have a certain look about me the way I dress etc, plus the fact I'm literally covered in tattoos as you can see in my sig!

No parent honestly wants to hear that there son or daughter grew up to be gay and like the same sex. I think your parents are just in a deep pile of denial and they just refuse to see things the way they truly are. Honestly they will probably look for things all your life to blame your sexuality on except for the fact that you just are attracted to guys and turned out that way. They probably feel alot of it is maybe them screwing up as parents in raising you. Even if it was not that they still probably feel that way and don't want to feel it. So rather than facing the issue, they just blame it on your "Dolls" or things you watch on TV or ppl you hang around. As long as your comfortable with who you are and the things you love, it doesn't matter what anyone else in this whole world thinks. You could live on your own with out anyone else in your life if you really had to. God knows that i do. I'm very independent and nothing anyone says to me bugs me in the least bit. Your boyfriend just gets mad because you are giving your action figures all your attention and not to him. When your going to be in a relationship, its time to grow up and give that person all your unconditional love and attention completely. You can have hobbies and things you like doing here and there, but if your spending too much time on something like you do with action figures, that is a big problem. Maybe you shouldn't be in the relationship then. You need to find a comfortable medium between spending time with your family, your loved one, and your hobbies with out exceeding your time toward too much of any one of them. Maybe set a certain amount of time for each, each week, and set a budget on your figure spendings so that you are not spending so much on them and upsetting your boyfriend. Best of luck with everything though. Life is hard, just do your best and what you think is right and you will be just fine.

sounds like a show of Jerry Springer.
I'm 30 and been collecting sports cards and different toys since i was a kid, I could care less what anybody thinks I'm actually proud of my collection, it took years of hunting and money spending.

My dad was 43 when he basically handed down the collecting style to me but was 56 when he sold off his LJNs, hasbros etc. (so anyone 14 year old that reads this DO NOT pull the whole "im too old crap" because if a man collected figures until his mid 50's it doesn't matter how old you are.) I am 20 and still play with them, collect them, do the pic fed spit etc. It makes me happy. My girlfriend acted as if she hated it but buys me figures from time to time who collects shoes and once collected barbies and still has some. SHE even plays with my figures (if you consider Cena getting assaulted by women and men dancing with each other then sure.) Anywho, stand your grounds. My mom thought I was weird for having figures when I was 14. 6 years later, she would be dumb founded if I sold them off. Also, start buying the figs yourself if you want them. Or if someone who supports your hobby wants to help get some stuff then sure. (My dad still gets stuff for me because he closetly says that he owns half the collection. Once again, NEVER TOO OLD ) On a final note, I respect that you're open but as you can see, the great majority of the world isn't. Just learn to keep some crap in private or to the people you're closer with and leave it with them and you. Otherwise keep collecting.
