Great instrumentation much of the time, but God awful vocals. Can't stand it. That's why I go for thrash/speed.

You need the entire Death catalog, my friend. Classic stuff, it pisses me off that Chuck is no longer with us, the man was an all-around metal genius.

I don't really see the enjoyment of it. I like some classic metal, but when it comes to death metal, I can't find the redeeming feature, the lyrical content is usualy lacking or vulgar and growling vocals are just hard to enjoy. The music doesn't really speak to much, except anger, and even then on a personal level it's not an anger I can connect with.

I like original metal and maybe some instrumental grudge metal but that's most likely it. I don't really see the enjoyment of it. I like death metal. I love when death metal bands do covers of pop songs it's hilarious. My favorite band is from the UK, called Ten Masked Men they specialize in Death Metal covers of pop songs they're pretty good but they only stay in the UK and don't tour the world

I listen to melodic Death Metal. Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Soilwork, Solution .45, Scar Symmetry, In Flames, The Duskfall, Universum and the oldest Opeth albums.

You're not going to get very many praising responses on here. It's either Nickelback fans or super dark and brooding radio rock fans, with the occasional appreciator of good music thrown in.
Death metal is great if it's done right. I'm more of a first-wave black metal/doom metal/neocrust person myself. As much as I like intricate, technical-style metal I prefer heavy music that's simple.

I'll give anything a listen, but death metal just isn't my thing.

That's quite a judgemental sentence to make, with little need for it. Good music is something very subjective, my opinion of death metal is that it isn't good music. There are some artists, such as nickelback, which undeniably lack artistic merit, but I think the same can be said for alot of metal bands out there too.

I like Death Metal aside from the vocals. Not a huge fan of constant growling vocals. With that said I can listen to it in small doses. If there were more Instrumental Death bands that'd be sweet.
