Funny. An actual troll, calling another member a troll. I was just stating an opinion based on observation.

I like Death Metal but only listen to it in moderation. But if it's Opeth, Death, Obituary or Between the Buried and Me; then I can usually listen to it whenever.

And yes, you spelled Dimmu Borgir correct. I was just reminded of the fast food place on Metalocalypse, 'Dimmu Burger', haha.

I do love a bit of Trivium, Sonic Syndicate and Lamb of God. But other than that I'm in the dark on the genre. Some recommendations would be much appreciated.

Trivium and Lamb of God aren't death metal. LoG is groove metal and Trivium is more Metalcore. Both great bands but you won't necessarily enjoy Death Metal just because you like those bands.

My mistake No worries mang. I just didn't want you to think that because you liked those bands that Death Metal would automatically be a tremendous discovery when it might not be the case. You may still enjoy it. You never really know.

I don't really listen to death metal anymore but I occasionally listen to Death, Possessed, Autopsy and Morbid Angel every now and then.
Old school stuff worth checking out, especially Morbid Angel and Autopsy.

I can't say I like that type of music but I've learned to appreciate vocalists who can perform a powerful scream. I know that it isn't an easy thing to do and it's a skill I'm very envious of.
I can listen to a few alternative rock songs with screaming in places but death metal, much like dub step is something I just don't get and for me there's little to no harmony to the music.

Aside from thesystem's list of the more popular bands in the genre, not much death has been mentioned. Check out Desecravity, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Spawn of Possession, Pungent Stench, Engorged, Coffins, Butcher ABC, Dim Mak, Natron... If you want any other recommendations for death, gore, grind, black, doom, etc., I'm a pretty good source.

I listen to melodic Death Metal. Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Soilwork, Solution .45, Scar Symmetry, In Flames, The Duskfall, Universum and the oldest Opeth albums. this. I'm not much for the RAWR, I'M ANGRY, I SOUND LIKE COOKIE MONSTER!!! any more. I got over that phase in middle school. There are certain death metal bands I like, but I much prefer a progressive, melodic metal song to a 3 minute SCREAM AND PLAY LOUDLY AND AGGRESSIVELY!!!! session.

two pages of a death metal thread and only one brief mention of cannibal corpse? for shame wf, for shame.
i admit i'm not much of a death metal fan as i was a few years ago, but i definitely still love it. cannibal corpse is definitely my favorite death metal band, hands down. nothing like some hammer smashed face to get me going. and of course the whole eaten back to life album. death metal masterpiece right there.
some others that i like have already been mentioned, such as death and obituary. dying fetus is pretty good in small doses, too much at once and they get fairly boring.
and i can't finish up without mentioning cannabis corpse. a lot of people pass them off as a cheesy rip-off of cannibal corpse, and while they did start out as a cannibal corpse weed influenced tribute band, they've started to carve out a nice path for themselves. they've got a few songs that rival cannibal corpse songs pretty well. not to mention alex webster has given his full approval of cannabis corpse. so thats pretty badass for those guys.
and one last thing. lamb of god and trivium, death metal? really guys? i mean, i'm a lamb of god fan and i like some trivium and all...but definitely not death metal.
