Looking back to a number of years ago to the remco, Ljn, hasbro and early jakks figures to what we have in Mattel now there has been a clear evolution in how action figures are made with technology and sculpting so my question is what could be the next evolution? I mean hat we have now is great everything from the sculPts to the accessories but you have to imagine toy companies will look to continue to improve.

The only thing I can reall think of is using the same technology hey use to scan Rae's and heads and use it to scan entire bodies but that would probably cost a lot to have unique sculPts for every single figure so idk

Every single wrestler gets custom specific parts for their figure. E.g. I have a basic Sheamus and Del Rio and they both have the same torso...they don't have the same torso in real life, they should have their own unique partts

Yeah ltd I totally agree that would be a big step and they can do it now but cost is probably a huge issue with that but I'd love to see that

with today's advances in 3D printing, it might not be much longer until the technology is more affordable and we could essentially make our own figures... sounds crazy, right? it'll happen in our lifetimes.
more realistic articulation is something that's on my wishlist as well. don't get me wrong, we have come a LONG way and i am very impressed with what mattel has done so far, but there is and always will be room for improvement.
also, maybe we could go retro and have like "color changing attire" similar to the old hotwheels and stuff you could dip in water and change the color of them - would probobly lend itself better to the FlexForce line and superstars with ever-changing colorfully designed attires (Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston etc)

I think the biggest difference they need to go for is the time it takes a wrestler to appear on tv to the time that figure is in the shop.
Its been around a year but we still haven't got at retail a Shaven head Daniel Bryan, new masked Kane etc.
Ryback has been around for a few months but his proto figure is just done.
The future should be hot star gets new look, new star debuts - 1 month later figure is released - even if it is online only at that point and longer for retail distribution.
Santinio has been hot all year with the US title but he's lost it now and could go under the radar again but his figure still hasn't been released yet, last one was last year. Missed opportunies for flavour of the month hot sales.

No more action figure aisles. We'll download all the info then produce a figure using our 3-D printers.

in terms of figure evolution - I know DC Swamp Thing wasn't a total hit, but if we can get the super articulation we have now engineered under "skin" so you actually don't see the points of articulation, that would be a real step forward.
Of course the more real we make toys I'm sure we'll experience that "uncanny valley" computer game developers experience.

One thing they could do now that shouldn't cost much is to do the shoulders like the ufc figures with the extra joint to make them more articulated i think that woupd be great

Like the new stealth fusion Batman. I also think someone will eventually use the UFC style arms on wrestling figures...for added shoulder articulation. And possibly double hinged elbows.

In the future... action figures will be able to play with themselves.
