i built a light tent ...well box thing and i was trying it out


my customania wins scotty flamingo(raven) and norman smiley



here is a subu i finished.i had an extra daivari body and sabu head.



this is the box if you were wondering . cardboard a ripped up tshirt and white cp papper took about an hour to make.

Scotty Flamingo and Norman Smiley looks good. Nice and smooth painting on both customs and both look clean. Sabu looks like he could use another coat of green on his tights and another couple of coats of white on his boots.

Could use some closeups of the Smiley but it looks great from here. I'm not too keen on the Flamingo, the head just isn't working for me, but more importantly why are they holding hands in that photo? The Sabu looks good, that body fits him well and it looks like you did good on the scars too. You really should put that hand in some boiling water and make a finger pointing version since you already have the headpiece for the entrance.

The back of your box needs to be fabric, sloping down in a curve to get rid of the horizon line. I'm pretty sure that's what you're trying to do. Also, it needs to be wide enough so that when you get in close, you can't still see those taped-up sides.

Definitely go with a fabric backdrop, though. The same piece will function as the back and the bottom, and it will look like a studio shot. Light it from both the right and left sides to eliminate shadow. That's how I take pictures of my video game merchandise collections, and it turns out like this:



Your customs look pretty sharp so far, but that box looks so rough right now that it actually detracts from how professional your work looks. You're on the right track, though, just put in some fabric and you'll see a world of difference. If you don't want to fool with building one, they have miniature lighting studios you can pick up for about 30 or 40 dollars.

Nice customs, though. I really like the head you used for Norman Smiley.
