"Will the size and scale and playability be like that of a Jakks figure?" is the million dollar question that's hitting the head of a typical WWE Jakks action figure collector.
A lot of people have their own viewpoints to why it will or will not be close to the Jakks Style.
Everyone looks differently, everyone has his own choice, Mattel should have theirs to.
On a different standpoint, a business standpoint... why would they wanna take the risk, the risk that their very first few figure launch to becoming shelfwarmers, since they don't complement to the large strong army of The Jakks Style of a collector's collection?
Unless they have quite a relatively large part of the roster launched all at the same time(official figure release and prototype images release), giving a collector the psychological satisfaction to jump straight to picking up a Mattel WWE without much consideration. The collector will definitely feel this, "We are also getting a complete roster with Mattel as like when we were with Jakks."
The only possibility for a collector to pick up a Mattel's very first series with no reference or promises to a more convincing lineups in the upcoming series would only be this... the figure is simply fantastic. It stands out alone without any complements from other figures.
Will Mattel give the most complete action figure with its own unique accessories for that individual characters? On a business perspective, is this the most viable way, do they actually make enough profit out of a character leaving no room for improvements?

I honestly don't think there's any "risk" involved. For every Jakks collector not buying the new product, there will be a another child or a "new" collector that will start collecting the new figures, whatever their scale.
Mattel aren't going to look to Jakks for inspiration. They've been streets ahead of Jakks for years (most toy company's are, in terms of the quality of their products anyway).

I could care less about who makes them. All I knew was I wanted WWE figures, and until I got on this forum I never even knew Jakks was the exclusive rights holder. I will buy from Mattel for sure. Especially since I was such a later starter, There is a better chance that I may begin a collection with a complete (as much as it can be) roster in the end. It is too little too late for me to start any other collection aside from continuing my UMF collection due to my financial stains. Back tracking like I did with UMF is almost unrealistic to complete a line for me. Wih Mattell starting from scratch and assuming they will hit he ground running, I am ready for "tommorrow" to come.
I AM SO EXCITED!... COME ON 2010!

I'm really looking forward to the classics line. Wonder if they'll start off with the classics that Jakks has already done, or if they'll go after the guys Jakks couldn't get. Macho, anyone?

From a business standpoint they'd "WANT/NEED" their figures to be totally different from Jakks. The collector is a very small market to them. Mattel knows if they make the same scale/styled figures as Jakks then they run the risk of people not buying them, because... 1. They already have the wreslter from Jakks. or 2. They can get one of the many versions of Jakks figure for cheaper off the internet or at garage sales.
What they'll need to do is try and make a superior product in their own style. Because as far as the collerctors go they know they will still sell. (LJN, Hasbro, BCA, R3, TTL, RA & BnB all have) And even if many of the collectors on this board (or in the world) do stop...that means nothing in the long run. Because they know there will be new collectors & children just getting started into wrestling every day and theirs will be the only WWE product on the shelves. So they know they'll still sell.

Can Mattel put out more then 4 series a year? If they can will it be with less then half of each series being simple re-paints?

I'm pretty sure Mattel isn't going to come out of the barrel and make 30 sets per year. I think we will see a significant drop off with sets...and probably alot of re-paints.
If anyone is expecting them to just come out and blow Jakks away with their quality & quantity I think you're going to be really disappointed. Give it 6 months before half the people on here start bitching that Edge's torso is wrong or Jericho doesn't have the right kickers.
The only way Mattel will do a better job than Jakks is if the people who are making the decisions for designs ACTUALLY WATCH and follow the WWE
