I picked up the Metal Gear Solid adaptation # 1 yesterday. I hate the painting artwork, but it's alright, because the game was just amazing. Hopefully it will have slight deviations, because part of the fun is not knowing where the story is going.

My comic store is having a guhe sale this week, including 50% off all back issues, so I thought I'd share what I bought today for a whopping $56.10! Amazing Spider-Man #327 & 329 (Cosmic Spider-Man issues, natch) Amazing #332-333 (return of Venom) Amazing #341-343 (Spidey loses his powers) Amazing #346 (Venom!) Amazing #365 (30th anniversary w/ kickass hologram cover, Spidey's parents' secret revealed!) And from the fan favorite Clone Saga : "Back from the Edge" Parts 1-4 (Amazing 395-396, Spectacular Spider-Man 218-219) "Web of Death" Parts 1-4 (Amazing 397-398, Spectacular 220-221) "Smoke and Mirrors" Parts 1-3 (Web of Spider-Man 122, Amazing 399, Spider-Man 56) "The Mark of Kaine" Parts 1-4 of 5 (Web 124, Amazing 401, Spider-Man 58, Spectacular 224) Amazing #402 (stand-alone) "The Trial of Peter Parker" Parts 1-4 (Web 126, Amazing 403, Spider-Man 60, Spectacular 226) Amazing #417 (2nd to last Ben Reilly issue) Amazing #419 (Peter returns as Spidey!) All in all, 31 issues for $56 and change. Not bad. BTW, now I have every issue of Amazing from #415 to current, as well as 291-297, 327, 329, 332-343, 346, 348-380, 390, and 395-406. My goal is to get a complete run before I die.

I picked up the newest USM on wednesday, and needless to say, it was a pretty big dissapointment. There is no story thus far, and those are kind-of importanr when crossing over two big characters.
All I know is, Ghostbusters Legion # 3 is out November 3rd. That day I will skip class and go pick it up.

What a two days...
Yesterday I got threw subscription: Amazing Spider-Man 512 X-Men 162 Uncanny X-Men 450
And won on ebay: X-Men 161 (£4.00 shipped, bit expensive but the only other option would be waiting for the TPB and buying it for one issue which is more expensive)
Today I went to the comic shop and got: Marvel Team Up (Vol. 2) 2, 3, 4 and 5 Hulk Wolverine: Six Hours 1, 2, 3 and 4 for £12
Headed out and saw a book store was having a closing down sale, I decided to head in to see if I could see any books for my dad when I saw a "3 comics for £1" sign
I grabbed up: Tomb Raider Journeys 3, 5, 6, 9, 10 Tomd Raider 14, 14 (Dif cover), 17, 18, 22, 28 and 29 for £4.
It was an indy fans dream, so many great titles like Witchblade, Inferno, Rising Stars and even a few of the smaller guys in the Marvel universe. I would of spent more but I'd spent enough already.

Has anyone read the new Astonishing X-Men comic? I thought it was great. What as a whole or are you talking about a specific issue (i.e. the latest)? I love the comic as a whole. Comics in Marvel today all seem to be decompressed and alot of the time it hurts the product in the comic market but not the TPB market... however Whendon is great at this style of writing. Every issue something happens and when something isn't happening we get amazing character moments. The guy has me laughing every issue and on my seat every issue. He's really shot up there on the list of my favorite writers with just a few issues, I hope his work is as good on the next 6 issues and he stays around after that. One of my favorite, if not favorite comics. He had me subscribing at Issue #4

He's really shot up there on the list of my favorite writers with just a few issues, I hope his work is as good on the next 6 issues and he stays around after that. One of my favorite, if not favorite comics. He had me subscribing at Issue #4 Joss is a fantastic episodic writer. He knows when to give people a little and when to give people a lot. Years on television obviously are a benefit for a comic writer. Look at J Michael Stracynski for another example. He tells incredibley well-paced stories that fit in 5 or 6 issues. As opposed to most comic writers * coughBendiscough*, who take a good 2-3 issue story and decompress it into a handy 6-issue TPB-sized story. I see no problem with planning in advance for TPB release, but there's no reason Marvel ciouldn't put 2 3-4 issue stories in one TPB just as easily as one 6-isuue story. OK, now that that rant is ended...Joss is just fantastic with characterization and dialogue, it's insane. The moment when he brings up the tension between Emma and Kitty, bringing up a completely valid but forgotten reason why the two would not get along, was brilliant. And like I said, he knows how to pace a story so we're not overwhelmed and not bored. I can't wait for a Joss stand-alone issue, just like he did on Buffy and Angel, that can be read and enjoyed without knowing anything about the title, yet still tells a vital part of the story. If Joss gets the chance to do a full-on humor issue, I'll be in heaven.
