I know we have the favorite and least favorite actor thread, but I thought we'd see who you consider to be the top 3 under-rated actors of today. Please explain why too.
1.Michael C. Hall- One of the best television actors of the past two years. This man just doesnt get the credit he deserves and is usually overshadowed. Anyone who has seen Six Feet Under or his current show Dexter knows this man has an extreme amount of talent.
2.Dylan Walsh- Over the years Nip/Tuck has slowly became a bigger and bigger show. But usually all the credit goes towards Julian McMahon as "Dr. Christain Troy." While he is a great actor, I think too much of the attention is focused on him. Ill admit that it is getting tiresome seeing him and "Julia" going back and forth, and him constantly bitching about "Christain." But this man has alot of talent that just hasnt been seen yet.
3.Paul Giamatti- When I think of the top villians of 2007, Paul's "Hertz" from Shoot Em' Up is up their in the top 3. While that piece of crap"Fred Claus" has brought down some opinions of the guy, I believe he is still an excellent actor. If giving the chance I feel he could go to higher levels of excellence.

I dont find Paul Giamatti underratted. He got the whole 'underrated' wrap when Sideways came out, and since then, i think hes gotten his due as an actor. Though i did find the films, Lady in the Water and Fred Claus, as bad choices. Maybe not, if he wanted to be in more family orienented films.
I think Jonh C. Reily is a fantastic actor that gets stuck in the 'best friend' role alot, ala Boogie Nights and Talladega Nights.
..and Nip/Tuck has been my favorite show for a long while. Ever since Season One, and after "The Cutter" storyline, i've been hooked on the show. It's funny how much things change on the show, yet stay the same. But I continue to watch the show for it's darkness and just, all out insanity.
Two actors I don't see too much of, outside of certain films, that i would enjoy seeing in more films would be...Danny Trejho and of course.....Bruce Campbell.

Paul has been screwed out of his Oscar way too many times. I don't give a damn how good Jamie Fox was in Ray, Paul should have got that Oscar, and he didn't even get the ing nod. Anyway, I guess I should answer the question eh? Robert Downey Jr. - Since he has cleaned his act up I have loved everything I've seen him in. He stole Zodiac last year, his performance in A Scanner Darkly was damn near perfect and he kick some major ass in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. Joesph Gordon-Levvit - This kid is in my opinion the future of Hollywood, not just himself but he will be one of the actors out children watch if he continues to pick great projects like Brick and The Lookout (maybe the single most underrated movie of 2007) He should be golden next year in Kill Shot and Stop Loss. Thats all I got right now, but I might edit this later if I can think of anybody else.

1. Josh Brolin 2. Casey Affleck 3. Paddy Considine After the year Brolin had every director in Hollywood should be beating down his door. Casey was amazing in Gone Baby Gone, I hope he continues to get good movies to show he is more than Ben's brother. I haven't seen much from Paddy, just his small parts in Bourne 2 and Hot Fuzz, but I dug him in both flicks. I gotta agree with ya there bud.

I'm not much of an Iron Man fan, but because of Robert I will be there on opening night.

Brolin ruled hard in No Country, Planet Terror and American Gangster. Still need to see In the Valley of Elah. Casey is insane in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. I picked Paddy for the british revenge movie Dead Man's Shoes which you must see.

I'll problay wait for an Iron Man DVD. Marvel Films have been kinda dissapointing with their recent comic book films, besides Spiderman, i havent been into their films much. Fantastic Four has been a disaster and I hated The Hulk. Ghost Rider was a guilty pleasure, but in all honesty, the film was pretty bad. But I didnt expect it to be amazing, so i still enjoyed it.
It's funny...when i go into a film like Ghost Rider, thinking its going to be horrible. It seems i watch the film, and think...."This isn't as bad as everyone said." It's odd.

I've heard about that one, its times like this I wish I still had a Netflix account.
Next time i get some cash I'm going to order it from Amazon, and once the Jesse James flick hits DVD I'm planning on renting it, I passed it up in the theater to see Into the Wild.

There's an underrated actor, Emile Hirsch. I need to see that one. Ellen Page is probably my #1 young actor pick.

He gives a star making performance in Into the Wild, add that to his solid performance in Alpha Dog and he had a pretty good 2007. He is yet another kid that I can't wait to see what he does next. Ellen was charming as hell in Juno, I hope she doesn't end up playing the same exact role in every movie she does though, something about her gives me the feeling that she might be pigeon holed as the quirky teenage chick for a while.

Not a fan of his. He just irritates the crapout of me. Not a fan of any of his movies, with exception of The Girl Next Door

Not a fan of any of his movies, with exception of The Girl Next Door I hold a personal grudge against that flick, simply because Elisha plays a god damn porn star, yet she has no nude scene in the movie. On my list of "Tit's I want to see" she is in the top 5, and I thought with that movie I would get my wish.

Timothy Olyphant....besides Live Free, the last films ive heard of his were in like 1999, which were Scream 2 and GO. Go is a very overlooked film, i love it. Go it for 5 bucks at Best Buy, a steal.
Emile Hirsch is one of my favorite young actors. I Have yet to see Into the Wild, but i own the soundtrack by Eddie Vedder. I first saw him in Lords of Dogtown, which i liked.

Honestly, I think the most underrated actor maybe ever is Brad Pitt. He gets a really bad rap for being a pretty boy, but he's a damn fine actor.

Already some great actors mentioned in here that deserve their due... I'd add to the list:
Luis Guzman - I own several movies that he is in, and I've never not enjoyed one of his performances...
Seymour Cassel - Brings a great deal of heart and character to all of his roles, especially his stuff for Wes Anderson.
Bruce Dern - This guys helped Hitchcock pull of a comedy, delivered some of my favorite movie lines of all time in The 'Burbs, was in westerns... he has done it all. Great actor.
Steve Buscemi - His lack of movie star looks and quirky roles make people overlook that he is a phenomenal actor, ranging from complete comedy (The Big Lebowski) to more serious roles (Trees Lounge/Fargo). I own at least a dozen of his films and he steals the show every time.
SPECIAL CATEGORY - and the most underrated of all time (I know it's not today, but cancer robbed him at 42... he'd only be 72 today)... John Cazale (no one in the average household could tell you his name, and his ENTIRE filmography is only FIVE films, but every one is a cinematic classic, and a best picture nominee and/or winner! How about that for picking your roles...). The Godfather, The Godfather II, The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon, and The Deer Hunter... amazing.
