Ledge is the definitive Joker, he made that character HIS.
I just wish the origin had something like the story "The Killing Joke."

I think every good quality that Nicholson had as Joker...Ledger has and more. The voice is similar. But he just looks flat out evil and demented. I keep getting more and more stoked for this flick

I knew Ledger would be good...I had no idea he'd be THIS good.
There is no doubt in my mind that he is the definitive Joker.

Ledger looks like a lizzard when they do the close-up on him after the "evening Commissioner" quote.

i saw "I Am Legend" tonight, didn't really notice anything new after seeing it on the big screen... but seeing it again did trigger a question in my mind. and i'm not trying to be overly negative against this movie, i don't find it "cool" to bash popular movies or anything like that, just saying...
the basis of "Begins" and the franchise reboot in general was to make the series about BATMAN again. the Schumacher films, and even Returns, became spectacles dominated by eccentric villains who were played by high-profile actors. Nolan's schtick was that he wanted to return the focus to Bruce Wayne and Batman, and have the villains as more "secondary" characters...
...so i can't help but notice that this trailer features about 2 shots of Bruce Wayne(totaling about 7 seconds of screen time), and 2 shots of Batman(totaling about 3 seconds of screen time)... while the Joker is shown in 9 or 10 shots, and does the voice over for almost the entire trailer. and this isn't even factoring in Harvey Dent and his confirmed transformation into Two-Face, as well as reports that Scarecrow appears briefly as well.
so where the hell do Batman and Bruce Wayne fit into this?

Its just the trailer dude.....
Nolan knows people are practically wetting their pants over The Joker, so he is marketing him.

Heroes are nothing without their villians. Nolan is just building the Joker up as a serious threat so that you'll be more interested in seeing Batman defeat him. Kinda like in wrestling how they build the heel against the champ. Make the hero look like an underdog so it has more effect when he defeats him. As for the Dent thing, Im sure they are keeping that under wraps so it'll be a bigger suprise to see how it plays out. Dont worry Im sure this movie will prove better than the hype

Nolan knows people are practically wetting their pants over The Joker, so he is marketing him. oh i know, i understand that. marketing an exciting villain makes sense. but thats exactly what the 3 Batman films prior to "Begins" did, to a nauseating extent. and despite my admitted weariness of this movie, i've been following it as much as anybody Nolan filmed a 7-minute Joker prologue, saying himself that he "just wanted to make a mini-Joker movie with IMAX technology." almost every promotional piece for the movie features Joker. Two-Face is confirmed to be in it, and apparently for most of the 3rd act. Scarecrow is reported to be in it. and Anthony Michael Hall's character has been rumored to be a villain as well. i just don't see how, with those facts, anyone can expect this movie to continue the progression of the character of Bruce Wayne and Batman. it seems to be getting away from everything Nolan intended.

I see what you are saying. And crap, I just remembered that Gamble is in the movie. Jesus, that would make 4 villains.

Scarecrow will die in the beginning, Gamble will be the background enemy and serves no purpose beside making Two-Face, Joker will be the villian, and Two-Face will be born at the end. So really just two enemies, and I doubt Gamble will be much of Batmans problem

Nolan has clearly stated that their will be no lose ends by the time this film ends.
So possibly Two-Face won't be born in The Dark Knight?

This movie should definitely be around two in a half hours.
First half hour: Introduction of the Joker, Scarecrow dies for good. But Batman realizes he has a bigger threat now.
Middle of the Movie: Gamble can be shown, but should be more of a background enemy. Batman finally gets confronted by the Joker. All the good orgasmic stuff.
Movie ends with: The "half" scene.
Doesn't seem too crowded, to be honest.
