I posted this on the 360 board a few days ago and got no replies, so I'm gonna post this here for anyone who sees it:
This may be a newb question but I am not sure on this. My aunt got my cousin a 360 for christmas, and she was asking about getting online wirelessly. I told her Microsoft has the wireless adapter for $100. Is there any other option to get wireless online than the $100 microsoft adapter option? I was thinking a USB Wireless adapter but I am not sure on it. If anyone has any other options, please let me know the name of it and where I might be able to get it. Thanks.

Nope you need to get the wireless adapter. Theres no other way by going wireless. Its either drop 100$ for the adapter or spend 15-20 bucks on a cat5

You cannot use any other USB device for wireless. You can, however, use wireless ethernet adapters like the Linksys WGA54G, but they are apparently a huge pain in the ass to set up.

I got one of ebay for £35 posted (brand new) and it so far has been worth every penny. My issue is that it should have been built into the machine in the first place.

Yeah, I got mine on ebay for like $20 cheaper. That's what i suggest you tell her to do. Wireless is the way to go.
