How many here have the dreaded metal mouths? I do. But luckily for me...in 13 days....they will be gone!

I had my braces taken off like, 6 years. The first day of having braces was one of the worst days of my life. I just couldn't cope with those little chunks of metal pressing up against and scraping against the inside of my lips. Which in hindsight, if that was one of the worst days I've ever had I've had a pretty smooth life.

I had them. They sucked, but at least every month my mom would pick me up from school early to bring me to the orthodontist. I remember when I got them off, your teeth will feel gel-like. Its insane!

I have them right now. I got them in June or July of last year. My teeth are getting straighter but its a hassle to take care of the braces. Also, when you first get them and you get them adjusted, they hurt real bad.

Not me, although my friend has braces.

I've been pretty lucky with my teeth, no braces for me.

I had to wear my braces for two and a half years. I got them off two years ago and I'm so glad my dental work is over. It was a pain in the ass.

everyone had bad teeth in my family, my sis has a handful of cavities and fillings, my dad used to smoke so his teeth are yellow and my mums are false. when i was younger my doctor was giving my medication that i would need to take for the rest of my life and he said to my parents "your son may have troubles with his teeth later in life as these medications can decay teeth very easily". Didnt happen, i have the best teeth in my family, never had a cavity or a toothache for that matter.

Nope, never had them. My teeth came in straight naturally.

I am blessed to have never had them. But the guy next to me, however. God wasn't nice enough to bless him with braces.

The hostess at the Hooters where I go has braces. It sounds so wrong, but they look cute on her.

I'm actually thinking of GETTING braces. My teeth aren't the straightest they can be, but it's only for the better, right? I've had many stuff happen to me, like falling down the stairs twice as a baby (both because of my will to climb the baby fence :[), got a toe nearly ripped off of my foot, and broke my left shoulder twice. Those were obviously, for the worst, but if I can take that and still feel alright braces won't hurt, I guess.

I plan on getting them soon. My mom spent all her money on my brother's braces, and I never got them. So, at 33 I still have jacked up teeth. But I plan on getting them this year.

I had braces for three years, and it sucked. Whenever you first get them and get them adjusted, it is uncomfortable to eat for a couple days. Retainers, that some people, like me, have to wear after they are taken off to keep your teeth in place, aren't nearly as bad, but when you take them out to eat, some people will accidently throw them away, causing the need for them to be replaced. I have never done that though.
