So I am thinking of getting a new computer (lap top). Should I get Mac, or windows? And if Windows, what type of computer? HP? Dell? or what?

I have a Sony Vaio running on Vista. Love it and it was a 580 well spent. You can also check out the Toshiba laptops too.

I would say Windows. Not bother what brand that was, as long as it's Windows

Macbook Pro. I bought one for college and I will NEVER go back to using Windows again. And if you really want Windows that bad, you can download it and switch from Mac to Windows whenever you want. I dont see a point in doing that, but my friend does it.
or get the new Macbook Air.

I have been a Windows user all my life til 2005, when I bought my first Mac notebook. I will tell you this, once you own a Mac, you will understand why Mac users love it so much.
Mac all the way.

lol supposedly linux is the best but hardly anyone uses it. I would get windows operating system (try vista) if I were you. I never really liked mac. Plus with windows, you aren't really restricted with what brand of computer you get. Try acer or hp, those are usually the most reliable in my opinion.

Those who say Mac for reasons that they are less succeptable to security threats is bull! The reason why that is; isnt that they have a better security system, but because they are less popular; thus there's less scare and need for security. The price of Mac's are so much higher than any Window's PC. Plus with Windows there are many after market parts and such you could build your own pc for a fraction of the cost of a regular name brand PC; unlike Mac where there aren't any aftermarkets.

Basically I look at it like this.. If you're like me, in the Media Technology field you wanna get a Mac. Mac's IMO are better for video editing, animation, graphic design, 3D modeling, etc. iMovie, iTunes, iDVD, iPhoto are all top of the line for that, and Garageband is great for mixing music, IMO the best there IS.

I have a windows and a mac laptop and I gave my windows one to my mom when I got my mac. It is way faster, smaller, lighter, brighter, the wireless works better... if you've got the cash, get a mac.

Why do you say that Eric Koston? Windows isnt good quality? Windows has been the top OS for years. If that weren't the case we'd be talking about Apple/Mac and Steve Jobs would be in Bill Gates place. I still see more PC's being bought than Macs. The thing that is keeping Mac from being on top is personability. They may have a good OS, but being able to buy aftermarket components, and maybe build your own pc that is as good for cheaper than Mac is what keeps Windows OS companies on top.
