First off, it's not meant to be red. It's actually just black and gray. It's only red because of all the blood. The back story: My friend Brent passed away about 2 years ago. He was my best friend. The summer before he passed away he went to Peru (for the 2nd time) on a mission trip. He came back home and started getting a cough..then he went to the hospital..The doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. They had to put him into a drug induced coma to keep him alive to try and figure it out. Then he had a heart attack because of all the damage the (whatever it was) had done to his body. His autopsy said heart attack, but because it turned out he had contracted the Bubonic plague when he was in Peru. This friend of mine used to jump in puddles when he was close to people to splash them on purpose, just to piss 'em off, because he thought it was funny..And they did too, after their clothes dried. I thought, what better way to remember him, then by something he did. Sure, I could get a cross, or get a guitar..but those things are just too cliche. Don't get me wrong, I'm down with the cross, but it isn't for me to tattoo on my body. After an hour and 20 minutes of pain and agony, I am pretty stoked with how it turned out. Post your tattoos in here if you got them! Or your ideas for one, if you're too young..

I'm not going to lie. I looked at the picture and thought to myself, that's kind of stupid. But then I read the backstory and such and it completely changed my opinion. I digg it, very touching.

I figured you'd have gotten one of your world-famous computer drawings tattooed on your back.
But I guess that doesn't have sentimental value.

Pretty cool.
At least it has meaning, and it looks pretty interesting too. Nothing crazy or weird. Looks fun.
But can i ask... what made you choose that placement for it? Most people go with arms or chest.. Why the corner of your back?

That is a great tato based solely on the story and sentimental value it has. It looks well done but must have hurt big time.

I love it. And I liked it before I even read the explanation. It's very unique.
The Chucks hitting the water remind me of careless youth.
EDIT: Hope to see another picture when the bleeding is gone.

My thoughts exactly. It's definitely one that has a good story attached to it. It's really great that you got that, dude.

Thats pretty touching. You will now always have those fond memories of him splashing people. Thats a real cool idea too. I hate the standard cross and shit. My only beef is I prefer colorful tattoos. Nice though. And I think weve all seen my tattoos by now 3L but I should be getting a new one soon.

Most people go with arms or chest.. Why the corner of your back? It's my goal after college to start up a few different business. While I do think you should "be yourself" and not worry about what people think, you have to understand there is a limit to that. As someone running a business, clean cut looks are always the most successful. I didn't want my tattoo to be in a place that would hinder my career. -- And thanks to everyone for the nice comments. I was actually expecting a few people to be full of ass with some of their remarks.. But surprisingly, you all were good to me. I'll be sure to post another picture when its all healed up and looks better. I plan on getting one more tattoo and I'm done. I'll probably do that within the next couple months.. Thanks again!

It's original, really, but who would get shoes tattooed on them?

Its pretty cool, how old do you have to be to get a tat? Also how painful are they and the risk of getting one such as an illness. The bubonic plague is still around?

No. Gotta be 18. 16 with consent. Yes, they heart depending where you get them. My spine was the worst. Everyone complains its the worst pain ever, its really not. It's bearable. Just irritating.

Just irritating. 18 no matter what where I went. Mine was pretty painful. Im pretty much skin and bones, i got some meat some places. Not nearly enough on my shoulders, so I felt all of it. And yeah, the plague is still around in some places in the world. I don't know why he caught it, he never got sick that often..Relatively strong immune system. Honestly, I think him getting the plague was just God's way of saying, "Well done they good and faithful servant, you can come home now to be with me." There's really no other way to put it
