Dad wants to get an Ipod. He's stuck between the new Touch or the Video. Anyone have any opinions or reviews on them?

Well I haven't seen how the Touch Works & all but My brother has an I-Pod (Nano) Video and that works wonders. But I would just tell him to get an I-Phone. Those are awesome.

The touch novelty is awesome, but seriously, for a little less in the money department, the iPod Classic (video redesign) holds a disgusting amount of songs and video's. The cheapest at 249 holds 80 gigs. I spent that a year ago and only got 30 gigs. A 16 gig touch is 400 bucks. A 120 gig Classic is 349.

Yeah, I just don't see why buying a touch makes sense. It's neat, but the memory is smaller than my 1st generation iPod I bought in 2002.

Video, I love my 60gig, for now. I'm always considering going to 160gigs. I have that much music, I need one.

well if your someone who packs with ipods with songs youll never listen to like buy full albums and are only fans of 2-3 songs than go ahead and buy a larger capicity ipod, but if you only put on your ipod songs you like, than get the touch

The "Touch" does nothing for me. It's basically a dumbed down iPhone, but the thing that makes the iPhone unique is that it has a phone. The touch is basically a touch-screen iPod video with not as much space.
I'd definitely go with the iPod video.

Personally, I like the iPod touch over the iPod classic (I don't think the iPod video is available anymore)

If you need "wireless" internet, you'd want it to be something that you can use anywhere, not just within the area of a wireless network. If you're in the area of a wireless network, chances are good that there's an actual computer that is open for you to use. Yeah, I think it is called the iPod classic now, but it's basically an iPod video with a new name and larger harddrive, isn't it?

I've had a 4th Generation iPod for three years now and it's pretty much full, I plan on buying a new one for myself before I leave for college next fall.
I was adamate about getting an iPod Touch until I saw the prices. I have 20 gigs now, and that isn't even enough - I certainly can't get a new iPod that holds less and costs $200 more.
For that reason, at this time, the iPod touch just isn't worth it. I would go with the video, no question.
