Up until a few years ago, I had an old 1983 TV with knobs on it still in the home. Of course, to get these working you have to have several (or at least one) converter, but I think it's pretty cool that you can stream modern day shows, hook up modern day cable and video games, etc. to older TVs. What's the oldest TV in your home? Is it still usable? Also, anyone here still use classic VCRs and watch classic VHS tapes?

An LG 3D TV from 2012 so I wouldn’t say it’s that old. It’s a dumb TV considering it doesn’t have the smart TV features. It’s kept in the spare room and hasn’t been turned on in a few years. I’ll probably just dig a hole and bury it at some point.

I absolutely still have a working VCR. It hooks up to the projector in my garage, and since it's a projector screen the picture doesn't get warped like a lot of things being "up converted" ie downgraded from their original quality.

I have an RCA Tube TV from 1999 in my man cave. I use it for gaming. I still have a VCR too. I think my brother has a CRT TV in his bedroom.

a few years ago I bought a big screen 4K tv, 85” or something - and the screen got shot from unplugging an HDMI from the tv to my computer a year later. whatever computer is in it had meltdown and it was bricked essentially. this has put me off tvs pretty seriously, so I invested in a Hisense projector (100” L9 Series)
it’s been a lot of fun, modern projectors have come a long way. and i have AV to HDMI converters that have worked out well
nonetheless, if a nice old tube tv came my way that still worked, I may just have to make a retro room in time.

We have so much bad luck with TVs for some reason. Doesn't matter which brand, they just don't last us. We have a 42" or maybe it's 46 or 49 inch (I forget) Samsung regular 4k TV in the bedroom which is probably from maybe 2017 or so, maybe even before that. Funny that I see this post, my 55" 4k HDR LG which sucks (from maybe 2020?). Picture was never that great or bright in the first place. Sometimes it just blinks out for no reason and half the screen is a lower brightness than the other side. It's my basement TV. I have a new one being delivered tomorrow. It's a TCL mini led TV similar to the one I have upstairs. Don't laugh because it's a cheaper brand, the upstairs one is amazing and never an issue. PS5 does VRR 120hz HDR and no lag that I can notice. If the new one for down here is anything like that well then heck yeah! Now someone get me a PS5pro for xmas!

As posted in the VHS thread, this is what I picked up a few months ago. VCR works quite well. Not sure how old it is though.

I have an early flat screen that I love. Must be from 2002 or so. Works great but it crazy heavy. I have a newer, bigger flat screen in my downstairs living room that has such bad, tinny sound I had to buy a sound bar for it.
I do have a VCR hooked up and own a good number of tapes.

My grandparents got me a TV with a built in VHS player for 70 bucks in the year 2000. It broke in 2012. Was one of the worst days of my life having to get rid of it

My VCR is 30 years old and still works perfectly. I still use it to watch old Wrestling events. At least nothing is edited unlike many of the re releases.
I also have an old square TV that I would mainly use for my old game consoles.

To be honest, I don’t have the latest technical equipment in my house either, but wow, that is really outdated. It’s kind of a reminder that I’ve been putting off some upgrades for too long. That said, I really need to take it easy with shopping for now and focus on getting my finances in order. I’ve been thinking about hiring a financial consultant to help me manage everything more effectively. I already checked out IQ Option reviews and they seem promising—maybe I’ll give them a call later to discuss my options

Oldest tv is a 46” Dynex bought in 2010. It was our only tv for 8 years or so and now it serves as the screen for my arcade cabinet. Crazy to think we got by with that and now my house is nothing but screens: one in my bedroom, office, loft, home gym, as well as a projector in our theater and living room. Not to mention various computer minors, tablets, etc. All that needless abundance of crap and I spend a majority of my time looking at my phone lmao.
I do own a VCR/DVD combo from around 2005? I have only used it to transfer old VHS tapes and it is currently sitting in the basement storage along with other old media.
