For one reason or another, I've been thinking about my own mortality lately and it's got me asking myself a lot of questions. Do any of you have a plan in place for your belongings, more specifically your collections and stuff that mean a lot to you? Does it depress you to think that life truly is one big game of Monopoly, where we accumulate a bunch of stuff in our lifetimes, only for it to "go back in the box" so to speak when it's all over?
I don't have a plan for my stuff just yet as I'm still very young and unless something drastic happens, that time won't happen for decades yet. I never want kids so I won't have anyone to pass my things down to, but it kinda bums me out to think of what could happen to my things after I'm gone. Whether pieces of my collection end up getting split up and wind up with different people, it not being taken care of, or some of it even becoming trash because it doesn't have the same value to them as it would to me.
What's your take on this subject? What's the plan for your stuff? Or any cool ideas so that we may live on after we're gone?

I have a book called "I'm Dead. Now What?" It's a planner for what you'd like after you die. Like who gets what, your bank account number & pin number, your email address & password, etc. It seems morbid, but I think it's a fantastic idea. It'll save your family & friends so much time after you pass.

My grandmother (& Grandfather by association.lol) on my mother’s side put label’s on the bottom of everything and when they both passed my mother and aunt sorted everything between the families.
As for mine my wife says she’s going to eBay before she calls 911 for me. lol
But she knows the couple figures that are most special to me and that I would like by my urn. And she has said there’s a couple figures that are special to her that she’ll keep. And everything else will go to our daughter. And if she doesn’t want all of it she’ll keep what she’s wants and they’ll sell it for whatever they can get for it.

Yeah my biggest concern as a dying old man will be what am I going to do with my toys................. When my nephew was little, he'd always bluntly ask "When you die, can I have all of your toys?" I sold 95% of them since then, but he is getting my vintage Star Wars stuff. |
