If we’re digging up old hatred for HHH I’ll say this, my issue with him at that time was that he was having all those bad matches, and the opponents were being blamed for all of them, meanwhile, the only constant in all of them, is HHH.
And I’ll never really trust his judgement 100% because he’s the same guy that said RVD wasn’t over which is just ludicrous. RVD was not only over, he was more over than anybody in the company and about as over as anybody EVER in the company. So that was just HHH playing politics to keep a guy under his heel which always rubbed me wrong about him.
HHH was always “the other guy” in the match at that time, that’s why his matches stunk because he’d always win and it wasn’t memorable. He’s who he is now, but at the time, as he was climbing, there were very few instances where I felt he deserved to be where he was based on popularity. Thats where the whole “he’s dating the boss’s daughter” references come from. Listen to the reactions to him early on in his World Title runs, nobody really cares. He wins the WWF championship and the reaction is like ..”really? This guy?” Nobody even boo’s it’s just silence lol.
