I think most classic collectors were hoping for at least one of the LOD/Demolition/Savage trio to resign with Mattel, but it doesn't seem likely now. I do wonder what's blocking Macho Man / WWE currently; We've seen Andre The Giant, Jake The Snake Roberts, and Billy Gunn all be kept on Legends Status but yet also have running deals with other outside companies. Wonder why WWE can't get Savage's estate on a deal like that? But for me, THIS image made it clear that Macho isn't part of the plan right now. Savage is sorely missing from this group. On the bright side - I guess this means they still have rights to Elizabeth and Sherri? Maybe we'll still get NWO Elizabeth and Harlem Heat "Sister" Sherri....  Agreed, seeing that retro set, my first thought was, we’re not getting macho 😫 Before they lose Elizebeth, we need that Mania 7 Black and white stars jumper elite. |

Yeh man the new MNW Harlem Heat is great but looks SO wrong without a matching Sister Sherri! She was such an important part of that team. Easy for people to assume that WWE is giving his estate the best offer considering they are the #1 wrestling juggernaut in the world, but that is probably not the case. They aren't just keeping his likeness under lock and key either. Look at how many companies are currently producing their own Savage products. People aren't just going to sign on the dotted line for WWE because they are WWE especially if one of their requirements is exclusivity. Then again, you got talent like Billy Gunn who throws a monkey wrench in that logic so who knows how it works. |

Looking at the new NWO Dusty, which with a quick fixup can easily double for WCW announcer era, got me thinking I would also love to see a WCW interviewer era Mean Gene (with new serious headscan) and WCW announcer era Bobby Heenan (again with a new headscan). While I'd prefer to see more "first time" and "deep dive" WCW names, in terms of Mattel getting their money's worth out of existing signees, I think WCW versions of those two would make sense, and would look different enough from their existing golden era WWF figures.

WCW Pillman
Ultimate Pillman in any era would be amazing
I wanted to see them treat him like they did Fred Ottman who got 3 figures of his gimmicks out almost immediately

There's a nice mix of eras and new talent. The lack of FTIL reveals is disappointing to say the least, but Mattel is making the most of what they have to work with. The preview night reveals were definitely the highlight for me though.

Also anyone know if Chyna is still signed? Seems a while since she's had a figure. And she would surely be a good candidate for an Ultimate.
Would love to see Chyna in black leather gear with gauntlet gloves, and new serious or mean-looking headscan (post jaw operation).

I assume it's because they feel confident Pillman Jr. will be around for a while, but that seems like not the best idea to hinge on. I want a Loose Cannon-era street clothes (I would eventually like both 07 Hardt Foundation and ECW, but will take either to start with) most. After that, i feel like the original Legends release is a GREAT option for the Vault or GH lines with improved articulation, vest material, maybe a better head, etc. Hell, I'd even want a pass at latter-day Flyin Brian (think debut Nitro vs Liger). |
