Where did this made to order thing spawn from? These aren't made to order Made to order takes at least a year to ship These are not made to order and none of the SDCC exclusives have been The going (conspiracy) theory is that this is shipping so late because Mattel had a different SDCC figure planned and had to scrap it, so this HBK was moved from a different line to SDCC. Again, that's the (conspiracy) theory going around I've seen several posts here and elsewhere about SDCC figures being made to order. Coliseum Collection, too. Just wanted to point out that they're not made to order. |

What I don’t get is if these aren’t ready until November then how are influencers getting final product MOC figs for review? Like sure they rush the first batch out to get into the hands of influencers but it’s gonna take another four months to get out the rest?

I get the feeling this UE WM12 Shawn was originally slotted between UE Legends Dusty and 2002 Hulk. That's why the DX Shawn was only shown as a render, but is actually supposed to come out before the UE legends Hulk which they had displayed.

If true, I wonder if it was Vince related - whether with another celeb or something else like the Austin/Vince hospital skit (would go with the MNW theme) or Vince/Hogan WM 19 (to go with the 40 years of Hulk theme). I don't see them working on a celeb or another figure that needed additional licensing without having everything squared away, but stranger things have happened. |

I think it's more of Mattel realizing going for the pop culture crowd isn't always going to sell the best, so they went with a safer bet targeting the wrestling crowd this year. Last years SDCC exclusive UE Ali is still available.

FWIW, when you Google "Mattel creations" there is a photo of the HBK (and other Mattel SDCCs) that says they ship by 8/8. Weird because the figure's site says "on/before November". I don't know what to believe, just get it when we get it!

So this time last year a lot were calling Ali a failure. Regardless if this goes on to sell out in the coming days or weeks, we have to consider this a failure of epic proportions as well, correct? So where do go from here? Surely they should stop doing exclusives to save themselves from the embarrassment year after year.
