The pandemic changed a lot in my life, politically and spiritually, and I am looking to get out of the US for good. Is Canada a good place to start over?

It could be. You'd have to find out what regulations they require (inoculations, working visas, etc.). If you have any pets, they might need to be quarantined first.

As a fellow Canadian.... no.
The price to live here is way too high. If I could live in the USA I would in a heartbeat!

Would you consider moving to Amish country? I've thought about it once in a while.

I live on the east coast of Canada and enjoy it. Unfortunately health care has been bad at least in this area for quite some time. Major doctor shortage east of Montreal that does not seem to be being fixed any time soon.
My doctor retired in 2016 and nobody took over his patient load which just left me with nobody and on various wait lists. I eventually got a new doctor when my son was born in 2023 as someone took him and me and my wife on. My wife's doctor back home was convicted of manslaughter so that gives you an idea of what your choices are.
There's also a housing crisis but that seems to be everywhere at the moment. I got lucky and bought my house right before 2020. Today it would be triple the price we paid.
That being said, there's lots of room in my province for entrepreneurship and starting something from scratch. Lots of good programs to help out with startup too. Immigration and migration have led to some overcrowding in the population centers but the surrounding towns seem fine in that regard. Before my current job I worked as an employment counselor and we had people moving from the middle of the country and west to us sight unseen due to some sort of panic but that seems to have died down recently.
Canada isn't some sort of promised land though so don't get too rosy about it. Cost of living has been skyrocketing with lots of clear price gouging on essentials since the pandemic.

I live in the prairies. Swap the housing crisis for an education crisis and the rest of what handsomehollywood said remains the same here. And then add in a ton of racism. But, there are still a lot of very kind people here too and I do enjoy living here with all its faults.

Haha I'm in Sask, you've got some die hard Oil fans, but a whole lotta the opposite too. I'm pulling for the Panthers, back in '96 one of our Elem. school teachers kids played for the Panthers (and won with Montreal in 93) so I met him and Rhett Warner as a young kid and he used to donate signed stuff to the school for auction all the time. Got a soft spot for the Panthers ever since.

For me, It's the desire to leave the States altogether. I currently live in North Carolina. Over the past couple of years, my ideals have become much more progressive and the US feels to be going in the opposite direction. I love the cold, so the weather isn't a concern for us. We currently live on a ranch (We rent.) My wife is also a HUGE Heartland fan and wants the whole Shebang. Our kids are homeschooled, so the education part, we would manage. My concerns are working and the immigration process altogether. I am in tech and have been in cable for years. But I have never really been out of the US. It's something I've been chewing on. We are looking to visit soon and scope things out.

Yeah if right wing politics are something you're trying to escape, stay away from the prairies. But if you like ranch/farm/ag/small town kinda life, the prairies are where to be so y'know. I hate the politics in the prairies but I love the small town feel.

Anybody from Alberta? My wife seems interested in that area. Do you like it there and what are some of the best places to see while visiting?
