I picked up series 142 Hogan and wasnt expecting the articulation on the shoulders and legs, I think Mattel have did a great job and was just wondering what series did this new articulation start with?

It started with Series 141, which showed up in stores around the Holidays in 2023. It’s definitely a welcomed change and a massive improvement, though I do wish they also brought brought the shoulder/bicep articulation. The current kind gives me Jakks R3 Tech/TTL vibes and not in a good way

Besides the new hip articulation Hogan is the only basic that gets the original upper arm cuts and ankle articulation. All the other Basics only have the new hips. They still have the solid boots and elbow swivels.

I's say I wish they would bring back the boot joints but god knows I have so many Elites at this point with trashy ankles, so frankly I'm fine with the basic boots. If they were to go back to the old boots but actually made them like they did back in the day where they didn't look like a foot hanging off the leg by a stick, I'd say go for it. But I don't trust Mattel to do that anymore, so leave the boots solid. They look nicer with my basic-body customs.

The new legs are ball joints, right? So essentially could be swapped with elite ball joints and have even more lower half articulation? Has anyone attempted this? Thinking about doing it with the new Champions Hogan.

Thinking about doing it with the new Champions Hogan. I was told in a facebook chat that this is possible and someone did it with an LA Knight basic.

While there’s a topic on basics going, which series was the Dibiase in that’s meant to be his million dollar corporation look? I need that and slept on it I think.

It would do for Money Inc or the M$C. I went hunting for pics and he was wearing that attire managing Bundy & a few others too. I'm hot on the heels of this one too because I love factions and I've got a good few guys to stand with him. Kama, Sid, IRS, Ringmaster & Bam Bam. I could say Tatanka too but Id prefer a dark attire for that & I slept on Bundy.

It's bad, I've passed on several figures lately because of the wonky ankle joint on both Elites AND Ultimates. And with the new Elite packaging, you won't even be able to see it until you open it.... which could be bad news... I agree with you, leave the Basic foot/boot alone unless they perfect the ankle joint. There are way too many figure with ill-fitted ankle joints.

The original basic ankle hinge joints were perfect.

The elite ankles are really dated, almost like a throwback to early toybiz ML. Almost every company has an ankle peg pointed forward at an angle, but Mattel keeps chugging along with the original design.

Yeah, they have more articulation now. But is it worth $2 more? Basics being $12 kills collecting even more for me.
It is probably just my mental block, but the basic kids figures should be $10 MAX. Most kids don't care about extensive articulation. Basics are what parents and grandparents buy their kids. They are not buying them Elites or Ultimates. You start getting higher than $10, it is going to turn off customers.
