I can understand an A grade if you only collect male figures.
But as female figure collector it's a solid F. 148 male figures and 10 women? Like them or not that's a bold, sad choice. How are we 4 waves into Monday Night Wars and no Chyna, Trish, Lita, Jackie, etc. They payed their dues too. No U.E. women? It's like as long as the elite line includes atleast 1 woman screw the other lines. Hell, even Becky would have been a perfect candidate for April O'Neil.
I get that "FeMaLe figures DoNt SeLl" I've heard it my whole collector life but man it's probably due in large part to the fact that us female figure collectors are throwing in the towel because the product just isn't out there. We have to wait 3 years to see a talent come back around if they do at all. These women are on the road, training, and working just as hard as the men and the Mattel team could care less. They check the few boxes they need to and don't give it a second thought. But we're the ones not buying them?
Everyone's got their Fandom and it sucks when we're not invited to the party man.
I'd absolutely agree that the exclusive formats trend away from female figures, though. MNW feels pretty egregious in that respect, because you can't say it's an era without prominent female acts. I'm hoping at least the Mattel Creations tag team thing means we start getting some current women's teams in the Elite format who otherwise might only get Main Event.
Easily 2/3rds of my wrestling figure collection, and a good half of ALL my action figures, are women's wrestling figures.
And honestly?
Being a women's wrestling collector kind of sucks right now.
There are a fair number of gaps in the lineups shown that I imagine will include some women. They seem to really be working on the "one woman per wave" thing right now, which is fine and all, except...
The basics/main event figures.
The way they put what has to be the lowest possible deco women's figures in the Main Event line, Ringside charges 30 bucks a piece for them, and they sell out in an hour anyway because I swear they make about three dozen total. It sucks so BAD. Getting ahold of what is most women on the roster's only figure they will ever get is a real chore these days. I mean, the Roxaane and Cora figures were very nice, and that Elite Kairi looks great, but most of the women's division of any brand never sees the Elite line, so I wish they would put even a little bit of effort into the basics. Look how great Xia Li was! That was one of the best women's basics since they stopped making the "Elite-Basics" for women. Why can't the women even get a fraction of the attention that the Hogans or suited figures get?
Overall though, yeah, I will agree. It's not that we aren't invited to the party. But we're sort of being treated like if you invited CM Punk or Triple H to a party with an open bar and no available fountain drinks. All we're getting is tap water while everyone else is drinking cocktails.
