I wonder if they flag talent as high risk sometimes and plan figures accordingly lol. Honestly I think that's part of the reason why I think they're been fast tracking all these Hogan figures (aside from him obviously being a big name/seller), they know that it's only gonna be a matter of time before Terry says something stupid and gets himself cancelled again 😂

Alright, if they can make a special torso for Ultimate Dusty's birthmark bump, they can budget out a new Kurt singlet and molded shorts. I'm sorry to keep harping on this, but it's always so funny to me to see all these hyper specific parts that are made for one person, but the highly toyetic KURT ANGLE gets hosed time and time again with his shredded, juiced-out figures. Is this figure bad? No, of course not. But it's a B+ instead of the A+ I know Mattel is capable of. I couldn't agree more. Kurt is someone who they know is gonna get multiple figures so long as they have the rights to make him, plus a singlet is relatively common in wrestling to the point where a mold for it could be reused for other wrestlers in the event that they can't make anymore Kurts somewhere down the line. It really boggles my mind why they haven't or won't give Kurt a unique singlet mold or at least molded shorts but then again Mattel's part choices have often times been puzzling or annoying (looking at you Legends 18 Kama with the wrong boots mold that the Elite figure already had specifically created for the man.)

Its clear that Bill plays to his favorites and pays much more attention to detail on his personal choices. Muta and this Dusty being a very recent example. I'm guessing Kurt isn't one of his favorites.

Can anyone confirm that Kurt has a molded singlet?

Can anyone confirm that Kurt has a molded singlet? It's definitely not cloth like the UE Kurt has but I suppose it's still possible but unlikely that he has a rubber singlet for the top half the same way the Legends Mr. Perfect did. However, I would be surprised (and disappointed) if that were the case

I really wished i could have seen him this year at wrestlemania. Losing him would be a huge blow to our childhood. Already lost macho man and u.warrior. we gotta just appreciate him while he is here.on a somewhat related side note, gotta say when i was at wrestlecon, lex luger didnt look healthy. I hope he is alright.

It's been said by Mattel all the Hulks this year is for the 40th anniversary.

Your comment was that the reason for the "Hogan Treatment" is the 40th anniversary when I'm simply pointing out that they've been pumping out figure after figure after figure ever since they got his rights back. If them making half a dozen figures in one year was the point that was being made, then yeah, I'd see where you were coming from. But again, between elites and ultimates, it's been about thirty figs in three years. 2021 was NOT the 40th anniversary of Hulkamania, and that's when this started.

I'd say this year Hogan has been pushed to the most. This isn't some conspiracy that Mattel is afraid he's going to be unavailable. Theyre pushing him because he's Hogan and they want to make money. Any of these guys could could be unavailable for what ever reason other than contract. There's alot of legends with alleged skeletons in their closets still signed. Are going to be every legends series too?

Yes, and, funny thing, the one guy who just joined the company who could be considered the greatest risk-assessment talent of the modern era, had an entire day of figure reveals dedicated just to him. You can say that they want to make money, and that's very very true. They do. But I truly believe that there are certain people Mattel fears may have an expiration date, potentially because they have in the past, that they decide to make all their money from immeediately and just keep it flowing because you never know when the rights will go away. Note: This isn't just a thing for risky talents. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Ali deal is quite short, and that that's why we've had so many figures of him in such a short period. Not a guy you would normally heavily push in a wrestling figure line, but if you have a limited time to make the product work, you're gonna speed up the process. The people who they haven't? I firmly believe were cases of Mattel/WWE not anticipating the deals being as limited as they turned out to be. I really don't think anyone expected the rights to Macho Man and Sting to evaporate overnight like they did. Those were supposed to be locked in guys, I'm sure if Mattel had anticipated a merch deal that wasn't indefinite, they'd have pumped out a bunch more figures.

Well Punk sells, it would be dumb of them not to pump him out. Hulk too. I'm pretty sure why Hulk is pumped as hard as he is because these store managers that Mattel are trying to sell to know who he is from their childhood. These exclusive legends that everyone complains about practically sell all the lines to stores. Mattel isn't made privey to how long they have a talent available either. That's why no one expected Sting or the Macho figs to be shelved, and I doubt Mattel is pushing out Ali's because of a short contract. It's more likely just a directive from WWE because they knew they were going to put him in the HOF.

I believe his last contract signing was for 20 years as a licensed talent. But others? Sure, there's always the chance of renewal that's up in the air. But I'm pretty sure Mattel has some idea of the length of what the person signed on for. Like said, Sting and Macho were supposed to be lifers. Those came out of nowhere. But I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that certain talents are known to be for a limited time, so they will make sure to give us what they can, when they can. Which, sometimes it works out. We've gotten a fair number of Mr. T figures in the short time he's been signed. But others, like Jeff Jarrett? The clock ran out on them.

That why situations like Macho and Stings do happen. I wouldn't say Jarrett's ran out, Mattel lost him once he lost his backstage job at WWE. Only reason people know about that Undertaker deal is because of the dirtsheets reporting it after Taker was scheduled to do Starcast and Vince didn't want him doing an AEW backed event. That is quite different than anything Sting or the Macho estate had.

I'm pretty sure contract details (including length) would need to be kept pretty confidential; especially with a billionaire who wants to compete with WWE hoping to sign top talent (Tony Khan).... I know they find ways around it, but from WWE's perspective - it's best to keep all that info as private as possible to prevent talent poaching. I read your comment that you thought Sting was a "lifer" - I disagree, but - If AEW had not come on the scene - we likely would still have Sting under a WWE merch deal.
