I recently started putting together a loose collection of LJN Bendies. I had a few as a kid but didn't keep them, so I am piecing the collection together one by one and am down to the last few to complete the set.
Last week I bought a loose Jesse Ventura in excellent shape, no paint loss, looks near perfect. But the figure smells terrible, like someone kept it in moth balls for the last 30 years. This has never happened with any LJN figure I've owned before, and I tried cleaning it with a disinfecting wipe but it didn't help. I thought the smell might fade but after a week the whole room still stinks from it. You can smell it even before you walk in the room. It is so bad I am thinking of selling the figure and buying a different Ventura (this reminds me of the smelly car episode of Seinfeld...)
Has anyone else ever experienced this, and does anyone have tips for getting the smell to go away?

Soak it in some warm water and dawn dish soap, dry it well and then put it in a ziplock bag with a couple dryer sheets. You may have to repeat the process. Id honestly let it sit in the bag for 3-5 days

You might try baby wipes?

Yeah, a year or so ago I got a lot of LJNs off of eBay. When they showed up, not only did they smell terrible, but they were also sticky.
I dumped 'em in the kitchen sink with warm water and Dawn. When my wife got home from work, she asked me "Why is my sink full of your dollies?"
Anyway, they smell better. Not perfect, but better. Still slightly sticky. At least, they were as of a year ago. I haven't got around to attempting to clean them more since then.

Thanks for the suggestions! The Body is soaking in soapy water right now. I hope this works.
I've had the sticky problem with the larger LJNs and I ended up getting rid of some of those. I don't think there's a perfect solution to that problem.
