WM X Lex is supposed to win the title, it gets switched to Bret.
WM XX Lesnar leaves the company, Eddie leaves with the title
WM XXX Batista is supposed to win the title but it gets switched to Bryan
WM XL ?
Just funny how plans seem to change in a major way every 10 years.

The current situation with Cody/The Rock/Roman is eerily similar to the WrestleMania XXX scenario from a decade ago. A case where WWE imposes its will by saying "you'll have this and like it" although in the end major fan backlash caused them to correct course and go with the guy who had more organic momentum. Who knows what will happen this year.
As for WrestleMania X, I think they already knew they were going with Bret by then. Some still believe the story that the reason why Luger did not get the belt was because he blabbed to a reporter at a bar the night before although that rumor was debunked a long time ago. Lex was still over for sure, but he had cooled off significantly after not winning the title at SummerSlam. Vince wanted to keep him in the mix which is probably why they booked the 1994 Royal Rumble match the way they did. However, the fans were just more behind Bret and wanted to see him reclaim the championship that was taken away from him the previous year.
I've already seen a few funny memes swapping the image of Bret/Hogan at the end of WrestleMania IX with Cody/The Rock and it would be difficult not to admit the parallels between both arcs.

I feel like the rule is moreso that every 10 years the best technician in the company wins the big one - Bret, Beniot, Bryan.
Either way that's not happening this year.

I’ve never believed Luger was supposed to win as I’ve regretfully seen Lex Luger matches. It’s like people that believed Koslov was originally ending the Streak in 2009.

Definitely getting the Bryan vibe this year...but unlike the WM30 scenario this is starting to feel planned to peak interest in TRTWM

It’s actually more like Wrestlemania 29 than 30.
Cm Punk was put on the cover of a video game. Rock came back after almost a year to end what at the time was a new historic reign in the making just for the purpose of losing it to Cena 2 months later all of which set Punk back in being the face of the company.
Cody was put on the cover of a video game. He just became the first back to back Rumble winner in almost 3 decades just for Rock to come back and say “now hold on a minute”, take Cody’s spot, all just to more than likely lose and set Cody back from being the face of the company.

getting back to WMX it feels like Vince had gone cold on Lex by SSeries and was already heading in the direction of Borga vs Luger for WM but then Borga got hurt & they couldn't further the storyline in the RR as planned. then there was the whole SS tatoo deal...
But yeah I don't think Lex winning at WMX was ever truly a thing from December 93 onwards.

Eddie Guerrero being champion at WrestleMania 20 wasn’t a “DAE plans changed.” Lesnar vs Goldberg was being built for months, and Eddie was already champion before they knew Brock was leaving. The only thing that would’ve been different if Brock was staying was he’d have likely beaten Goldberg, who they’d known for months would be leaving.

There’s was something else very similar to WMXXX thr happened in the main event at WM20 that he was probably not trying to mention due to the sensitive subject matter.

Thats when Vince ruled the Kingdom, but now the King of Kings rules. We'll see if that Mania ending still applies.
