Is their deal done? No new figures in the latest announcements, and now Bell 2 Bell have announced two new retro style Steiner Brothers sets.

I’m more concerned they lost the rights to Danhausen!

A lot of wrestlers these days have been allowed to have merchandise deals outside of their legends contracts. It’s safe to assume how reluctant they were to sign a deal in the past that their contracts will have this option.

I really can’t believe that one of the greatest and most requested tag teams of all time, finally sign a wwe deal and Mattel decides to release 2 of their most obscure looks. We wouldn’t be panicking if this wasn’t Mattel’s MO over the last decade.

Hopefully we get an answer soon and we aren’t all left wondering what’s going on.

I doubt it Legends/merchandise are longer than one year deals. They probably just didn’t sign exclusivity to the WWE. Jake Robert’s and Billy Gunn still had Mattel figures long after they left and went to AEW. It’s just too bad Sting didn’t do a merchandise deal like Jake & Gunn.

My guess the delay with classic Steiners is that they wanna do new tooling to really capture their unique physiques in their singlets. So they put out what they did to get something out right away but wanted to do their most iconic looks properly.

I'm kind of in the minority where I just don't care. Panicking isn't going to help, every other week we have a thread about this. I think if something happened it would of been because of something controversial. I think the last Scotty just got released too, so maybe they're in other lines and waiting for sales to pick up. I really want more Steiners, but it's out of our hands tbh. All I want is my Scotty in his white singlet and one in black biker trunks. I wouldn't mind another '98-'99 Rick with a proper body mold either as an UE. That jackets needs the UE articulation.

Steve said early 90s was on their to do list a couple of weeks ago.
Unless something changed since then, I'm assuming they still have access or he wouldn't have answered it or he would have said they are no longer under contract.
The hold up is probably WWE and/or Mattel put them on hold after the Rick controversy.
That probably pushed whatever they had planned out at least a year (and I'm sure they had a lot planned since they made a special one off announcement last year just to announce that they signed).
The fact that Steve acknowledged them and said they are on the to do list leads me to believe they can proceed with them.
I doubt Steve is going to share more and it really isn't any of our business what went on behind the scenes.

Dude breathe; E106 hasn't even hit retail yet (shoot RSC hasn't even received them for shipping yet), and both Steiners just had E104/105 (which themselves are now just hitting retail).

It better not be!
We still need some WCW Big Poppa Pump and Steiner brothers Elites. Especially with thier cloth and leather, varsity jackets. Just replace one of the next Harlem Heats attires, with figures of them lol

Don’t think there would’ve been this much confusion over the Steiners if Mattel had just done the logical thing and released 1993 versions of them instead of the ones they chose to release.

I said this in one of the other seemingly endless Steiner threads a month ago, and I stand buy it now:
First, let me preface by saying I LOVE the Steiners as a tag team, and I'm DESPERATE to have a tag team representation of them from the late 80s/early 90s (I frankly don't care if it's NWA/WCW or WWF as long as it's colorful) in my collection. And yes, it will be a major fail/botch job by Mattel if we don't get them.
That being said, I think that people are letting their own fandom and their desire for new figures kind of cloud their perspective on not getting tag team Steiners yet. For starters, and again I know I'll get heat, I really don't think the classic tag team version of the Steiners was more wanted overall than Big Poppa Pump. Reality is, unfair as it is, the Steiner Brothers as a tag team haven't been celebrated by WWE in their version of history for a long time. Solo Scott has more, just by the osmosis of being part of the NWO, so honestly it makes sense that within the first year of having them available we got a mainline Big Poppa Pump Elite and had a crowdfund whose arguable star figure was Ultimate NWO BPP (and it was a misstep for Mattel to count on that crowdfund, but that's a separate topic that's been beaten to death). Seems kind of obvious that we will get a Scott, likely in NWO biker shorts as part of the Ultimate line (either in the regular wave or as a MNW figure) sooner rather than later (hopefully sooner since the crowdfund didn't work). Honestly, the fact that we got a Rick Elite from any era as quickly as we did has more to do with his son getting a massive star grooming push than anything.
And that leads me into the second point, which again people will slaughter me for, the Steiners overall as a team are not treated at the historical level by WWE that would merit inclusion in the Ultimate line. Now, again, they SHOULD be IMO, but they're not. Mainline and retail exclusive Ultimates have been reserved for main event (at the time the lineup was solidified) current talent or bankable A-Level legends, and that's been the case for online exclusives/crowdfunds/potential crowdfunds outside of Doink, who seems like more and more of an outlier as the approach to the line has evolved. Again, I think Big Poppa Pump fits that criteria, they tried to build a campaign around his Utimate already, and he's almost a given to get one in the bikers look. Even when it comes to the RSC two-packs, the 80s/90s Steiners as a team are not treated at the same level as the Usos (Major part of the Bloodline, just headlined WrestleMania, promoted by WWE as the greatest "modern" tag team ever, evolving into them being positioned as the company's greatest team of all time period) or the Outsiders (Do I even have to breakdown how huge a deal WWE still presents Hall and Nash and the NWO as?) Now again, would I BUY Ultimate Steiners? Yes. But, truthfully and objectively, the way the Steiners are presented in the overall presentation of WWE's version of wrestling history, it seems much more likely that they'll get Elites (either in the mainline, or IMO more likely the Legends line) than Ultimates. I'd love to be proven wrong here TBH.
TL:DR I want Steiners badly, but I think there's some overthinking and overestimating going on.

Since the singlet made it past the design and prototype phase for the Nitro crowdfund I think UE Steiners are coming. I don’t think they woulda done that particular version of Poppa Pump if they didn’t have plans to use that singlet mold that’s pretty much specific to him multiple times.

Mattel have a history of releasing the least generally desired looks of talent first and it wouldn’t be the first time they didn’t get round to what most people wanted before they no longer have the rights (Dudley Boyz doing the late return run for example).
I think I’ve heard the theory is that they do this to maximise the commercials as if they release the ones people want most first, the lesser desired looks wouldn’t sell afterwards but that just seems like skewed logic to me.
Having said all that, I’m hopeful people are jumping the gun here, we know figures, particularly from smaller companies take forever to come out and this line has been advertised for a long time. I’m hoping this is one of those cases where the deal for these were done before they signed the WWE deal so that company are allowed to do these and no more.

Why announce the Steiners a year before figs are released, but keep quiet on this speculation?
Steve was so excited to announce them, but some reassurance could prevent this.
I know they don't like to say if someone is signed or not and that's fair, but if you already said they were and then now keep quiet. Somethings a foot here.

Ill accept the argument for getting Big Poppa Pump out before anything else but there's no way anyone but TheAssassin had DFG Rick Steiner in their top 5 Rick Steiner looks. Scotty should have been put out in the Elite line and then a Steiner Bros should have followed closely behind in the elite line.
