Man, they are all over the place on this set. The tights are different than the original LJN release, they chose a 1988/89 attire but put them with the gold belts from 1990. I thought this was supposed to be an homage to the LJN line, shouldn't these be 1985/86 maybe 1987 attires? The black packaging looks good, I like that they used a different design for them. I wonder if this is just a one off, might do this every now and then. Or will this be the norm going forward? Whelp…Anvils torso looks better, the chase packaging is cool, & the silver/gold tag straps are cool. Bret being from British Columbia? Bret always being so skinny, his heads never looking like him, the gear looks more 1990 than ljn era. Was hoping for 85-87 Harts at some point. I’ll still be getting these, the Hart Foundation was my favorite team, but can’t help but feel a little disappointed. Hoping the next Coliseum Collection set is a home run Yep, for this set, they should have done the same attire as the LJN figures, mid-80s look; no heart on the tank top, one solid line on the side of the tights, silver tag titles (as well as the LJN style tag belts), and regular shades for the Hitman. Then come back in the RSC exclusive UE 2-pack and do a 1990/91 version: different attire, heart on the tank top, different tights than previous Hart Foundation figures we've gotten (maybe the ones that say Hart Foundation on the back and not their nickname), gold tag titles, silver shades for the Hitman, pink beanie and regular shades for Anvil, and the Sgt. Pepper style jackets.

Personally, I love these! I think going with the black carded chase is brilliant, and I am hoping it boosts sales to the point that this line can increase frequency to 3 or 4 times per year. I’ll still be ordering just one set, and am ok with getting either the standard blue cardback (to be uniform) or black chase (to pop as more unique in my collection). Since the LJNs had a rare black cardback final set, this is great marketing to me, and I hope it continues for future releases.
That said, I am a little bummed with how these are packaged. This will be the first set I feel inclined to open, and am hoping I can get Bret’s shades on and get them both to wear the LJN style tags belts, then fit back in their packaging for carded display. I’m thinking that would help the aesthetic to look more LJN-like.

When this line started i was under the impression it would be an homage to ljn meaning same attires but each release is straying from that so i guess the only criteria for this line is the fact of the wrestler having an ljn originally. Definitely still buying but I'm disappointed as to how this line is progressing. Was hoping it would be ljn accurate

In this case, the Hart Foundation LJNs were relatively plain. Now, imagine if they ever do British Bulldogs in this line! I’m guessing they go with the white Union-Jack tights, despite it not being at all their LJN attire.

They'd for sure do the union jack attires

I’m just saying I highly doubt they would give us their LJN look if they did. Next, they’ll announce Hercules for this line, but put him in plain light blue trunks.

But if it’s not with gladiator entrance gear, I’d prefer he be in the Legends line instead.

I'm thinking they almost HAVE to do another tag team to offset The Hart Foundation? So who does that leave?
In keeping with the "LJN" theme, here are the options:
Demolition (they aren't signed that we know of) British Bulldogs (Davey is signed but not Dynamite Kid) Iron Shiek / Nikolai Volkoff (they could probably do this) Killer Bees (likely not signed but they could surprise us?) Strike Force (Santana maybe signed but probably not Martel) Valentine / Beefcake (they could probably do this)
Am I missing any?

I don't think they have either signed but I believe the Powers of Pain are also on the table. I want to say Barbarian had an unreleased figure so it fits the criteria they've set for the line

Oh Hogan and Hillbilly Jim also had a tag set from LJN so it's possible they do a repaint for Hogan to sell that set

But if he’s available, Sheik/Volkoff would be a great set. Unfortunately, if they won’t/can’t do the “USSR” print in the sweater, it does lose something. I’d still want them though. Dream Team will probably happen at some point, the longer this line goes, although I’m not sure they would consider either Beefcake or Valentine to be an “anchor.” I always liked them though, would want this set too.

Not sure on Volkoff, I'd hope they have him because he'd be a perfect pairing for sheik. I feel like the dream team, strike force, and the killer bees are all more niche sets that I would absolutely buy buy I wouldn't be shocked if Mattel didn't think they're worth doing. That being said I feel like valentine and beefcake are big enough names to sell a set of they're put together

Then for the elites legends line, one figure of his WM3 attire (black trunks, white knee pads and boots), and one of his WM6 attire (blue trunks, black knee pads, white boots).

I dig em. I didn't want to, but I do. And the LJN set was always my white whale, so I guess I gotta get em.

I'm OK with the Coliseum stuff not being "exact" replicas, as long as they're close enough. LJN was definitely limited by the technology of the time; I'm assuming many of their decisions were based on budget constraints as opposed to artistic license. Hart Foundation falls under the category of "close enough."
That said, I'm puzzled as to where this line can go from here. The remaining LJN talent that Mattel can make doesn't include many anchor characters, and in many cases, there isn't much left to do that would differentiate them from recent Elites. Ted DiBiase in removable entrance suit seems like a slam-dunk.
But Ultimate Bob Orton, John Studd or Brutus Beefcake seem like tougher sells at this price point, especially since we just got decent "ultimate-esque" Elites with very nice soft goods. The LJN era was also pre-massive marketing push, so you still have a lot of guys wearing 70's style plain tights. Not as toyetic as the later stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just an observation. I'm looking forward to see what's next.
