How do you properly remove the head from Jakks BCA figures? Or do you have to break off the part that goes into the head when you torso crack it?

You can place the head in hot or boiling water first to soften the plastic, then carefully work the head side to side to remove it. The pegs tend to stay intact and not break apart as easily with the hard plastic heads more so than the soft plastic ones. Maybe it’s because of the glue that’s used to secure and stabilize the soft, rubbery-plastic heads, I don’t know, but it seems that way to me. You may still have to use needle nose pliers to remove the peg from within the base of the head. Again, heat and soften it first to make it easier on yourself and to cause less damage to the head.
