Glad to hear MNW is continuing. While the picks for this line have largely been disappointing, there is still a HUGE amount of potential and I'm hopeful going forward Mattel can cut back on the repaints and push WWE to approach/sign more "first time" and "deep dive" names, particularly for the WCW/NWO side. Guys like Mortis/Kanyon, Norman Smiley, Ernest Miller, Buff Bagwell, Alex Wright, Konnan, Disco Inferno, Perry Saturn, Steve McMichael, Billy Kidman, Kronik, etc.

Some of these figures. I’d prepare for a Hulk Hogan too in the mix. Mattel recycled the figures from this scrapped set.

Well I kinda hope they don't include Big Poppa Pump in this line, as he'll be impossible to find/get.

Let's recap - seems that each Walmart store gets one case of Monday Night Wars - or Zero cases. Many times, those cases came on shippers, which were typically picked clean of that single case within a couple hours of the shipper hitting the sales floor.

Oh and I'll go insane if I have to track down a Monday Night Wars WCW Hulkamania Hogan! Please don't do that to me.

Ruthless aggression were still hard to find but they were stocked, but Monday Night wars is harder to find and not stocked well good luck!

Ruthless aggression were still hard to find but they were stocked, but Monday Night wars is harder to find and not stocked well good luck!

Completely agree - we seem to be seeing much less of MNW on the shelve than we did for the RA line. It definitely feels like there are no cases shipping to stores at all, everything I have seen in my area were all from the shippers, or remnants of the shippers. MAYBE they got a case of Wave 1 after the first shipper, but I have no way to confirm that.

Regardless, the stores in my area are completely empty of these

At this point my brain is envisioning bald guy with pointed eyebrows sitting behind a computer in a lab whose in charge of the MNW distribution, and every time another person loses their mind in rage over these figures, he cackles maniacly and adds another checkmark to his tally list.

Best guess I've got at this point as to why this is happening. There's certainly no LOGICAL reason why this is occurring from any standpoint of "Capitalistic company exists to make money" that I can figure out. People keep saying that Walmart doesn't care about the product. Ok, then why are they buying the rights to sell these figures? If they're gonna buy the rights to sell the most sought after wrestling figure line Mattel has ever made, then financial logic states they would want to provide said figures for people to purchase, thereby making a return on their investment.

It makes no sense or cents why they are doing it this way. I may have gotten a C in both micro and macro economics but can anyone explain to me why this would make financial sense on Walmarts part or is walmart just fond of flushing money?

Walmart is a retail giant.... buys/ships/sells thousands and thousands of different products every day across the WORLD. A lot of that product is fragile (TV's, electronics) and perishable (frozen food, cold food, food with expiration dates) and time-sensitive (holiday decorations, "back-to-school" supplies, summer pool toys). Diapers and baby food. Clothing. Shoes. Candy. Shoddy Furniture. Video games. And yes, less important things like basketballs, light bulbs, Chia Pets, bicycles, garden hoses, and yes.... $20 wrestling action figures. We rank near the bottom of the list.

Walmart also has a general reputation of NOT being a great company to work for..... and in many cases, the workers are over-worked and understaffed (both at the warehouse level and at the stores). So MOVING all these products daily becomes quite a challenge.... have you ever tried to make un-motivated employees move faster? It's not fun.

Due to All of the reasons above - the machine stops moving frequently - moving all that product daily there are constant logjams. They DO NOT want any product to sit and collect dust. Everything needs to keep moving ... and moving quickly. There is no room to store all that stuff.

Sooo..... when Mattel pitches these awesome exclusive "Monday Night Wars" figures - Walmart says "GREAT" and orders the LEAST amount of figures they can buy and still get the "exclusive" rights (so we HAVE to shop with them). Which - from what we've seen - - - doesn't even come out to be enough to equal One Case Per Store. They order a minimum because ordering too many will risk clogging up warehouses and slow up the flow of product. It's not a risk Walmart is willing to take.

THEN they put some of them up for sale online on their website..... but guess what? They didn't order any extra for that. So the online presales are now coming out of that general store supply..... so now not even every store is even getting one case. Many stores are getting none. Walmart doesn't care, it's one less product they've gotta ship out to the stores.

And guess what else? Often the product has already been sent out to stores, then they start trying to fulfill the online pre-orders...... but oh no - there aren't any left! Guess we've gotta cancel all those online customer orders.

And no, I don't think anyone is looking at tracking the sales of these. As long as they sold everything they bought, they are happy. VERY happy. The product is gone (and now they can buy/ship/sell MORE product). Rinse & Repeat.

All they care about is that the big machine keeps flowing and nothing is "sitting around" to hold up that process. In Walmarts view, as long as they aren't sitting around holding up the product flow - we have a winner here. And no, they won't order more - because that might result in pallets that don't sell - - - then they've gotta deal with THAT - donate to charity, sell off to Ollie's Bargain Outlets - - - or just send to the landfill.

ETA: I guess if you are selling 10 million products a day, and only making 1 dollar return on your investment for each item sold, you're still making 10 million dollars a day. It isn't ABOUT Walmart making money on these figures. Walmart doesn't care about doing so because it doesn't need to. If it makes a total of 10K in profit on the entire run of product, it still counts as 10K in profit added to the 10 million made otherwise that day, and who cares if anyone leaves that store in anything except a blind rage.

At this point my brain is envisioning bald guy with pointed eyebrows sitting behind a computer in a lab whose in charge of the MNW distribution, and every time another person loses their mind in rage over these figures, he cackles maniacly and adds another checkmark to his tally list.

Best guess I've got at this point as to why this is happening. There's certainly no LOGICAL reason why this is occurring from any standpoint of "Capitalistic company exists to make money" that I can figure out. People keep saying that Walmart doesn't care about the product. Ok, then why are they buying the rights to sell these figures? If they're gonna buy the rights to sell the most sought after wrestling figure line Mattel has ever made, then financial logic states they would want to provide said figures for people to purchase, thereby making a return on their investment.

It makes no sense or cents why they are doing it this way. I may have gotten a C in both micro and macro economics but can anyone explain to me why this would make financial sense on Walmarts part or is walmart just fond of flushing money?

At first you’d think the reason is asymmetric information, or missing information. Mattel and Walmart are both selling these figures, they are making money on them. The problem is you guys are not getting them at retail and have to go to the secondary market. So there is market failure. However, some people have contacted Walmart/Mattel/Steve(the goat) and informed them that there is a distribution issue. So they should have this information already. Perhaps they simply don’t care. They are selling all their stock and they don’t care who it goes to. Maybe they think it’s not on them to control who gets the figures. We could go into game theory here as well.

Okay, I've been putting it off, because I really didn't wanna go to Walmart, but I was about out of groceries & needed some supplies..... after careful consideration, decided to skip the "non-Super" Walmart near my house & hit the "Super" Walmart in nearby Maryland. I had zero expectations that I'd find anything decent at Walmart after 8pm.

And I just about passed out when I hit the toy aisle. Exactly TWO Monday Night Wars laying haphazardly on the shelf...... no F-ing way..... and it's the two I wanted. Has Christmas come early? NO WAY this can be this easy....



These were the only two from this set that I wanted, so I'm done until Series 5 hits. I'm in shock. Wow. These two were all they had, so I left nothing on the shelf.

Series 2: 50+ trips to Walmart, never saw them on the shelf.
Series 3: Didn't look that hard but never saw them on the shelf. Online orders fulfilled 3 out of 4 figures.
Series 4: 1 trip to Walmart and done.

These are out there guys, get out & looking NOW!
