Monday Night Wars

I wanted to get an idea of how everyone thinks this line will shake out. On paper, it could be one of the best sub-lines Mattel has ever done, but, it’s fate will be in the hands of…Walmart. Will the distribution be better? Will preorders be fulfilled? Or will it be the same song and dance.

Also. Will Mattel be able to put some serious deep cuts into this line? From both companies but WCW especially. We need anchor names of course but, we seriously need some lower/mid card talents to build out the rosters of this era. Fake Diesel is a great example for the WWF side of things and I’m hoping they can get some cool names from WCW. 4 figures plus a BAF and 2 Ultimate editions all under the Wars banner sounds incredible! I just hope we can all find these figures and help this line succeed.

Attitude Era is my favorite in all of wrestling. So I’m super excited for this line. However, I’m not very optimistic with Wal-Mart being behind it.

All I can really say is I hope they do better this time around.

I'm not even gonna lie, I would lose it if they made a Final Nitro Shane in his turtleneck sweater. That's been one I've wanting to make for ages, I've just never really known how to pull it off.

And street clothes Rikishi would be epic, especially if they did him in his "Bad Man" getup. I don't think we've ever gotten Heel Rikishi before in any line? Have we?

We are probably going to get the same/main players with probably a couple FTIL people (like how the RA has Bischoff and Torrie).

My guess is that we will get Shane/Vince/Steph, Headbangers, Dudley's in the line. If Steve Blackman, Ivory and Marlena are signed, then we'll prob see them here.

Maybe a Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter. A Golga would be cool (especially if they can license the South Park character).

If the some of the other ECW people are true, I wonder if they will be in this line (I believe some showed up on Raw during the War) or saved for their own subline.

Gangrel would be a perfect spot in this line if they ever sign him (especially since Edge and Christian aren't happening anytime soon).

For the WWE side, there really aren't that many "big spots" left to fill.

Sable, Jeff Jarrett, Gangrel, Debra, Blackman, Val Venis, Brian Christopher, Al Snow, Test, Hardcore Holly, Savio Vega (which I associate him more with the New Gen era) are really the only ones that I can think of.


On the WCW side, I could see us getting another Syxx, more Scott Steiner, DDP in jeans finally, Disciple, NWO Curt Henning, manager M$M, Harlem Heat, single run Booker T, Sherri (if still signed), another WCW Warrior, Steve Regal, NWO Liz (if still signed), Mean Gene and Heenan (if he is still signed), Big Bubba Rogers, Madusa (if still signed), Vincent, Mona/Miss Madness, Stacey, Torrie.

The issue though is FTIL people - I would love to get Buff Bagwell, Scott Norton, Disco Inferno, Alex Wright, Glacier, Kidman, Raven, Meng, Perry Saturn, Konnan, Kevin Sullivan. I feel like Meng (WWF conncection), Kidman (works for WWE), and Konnan (worked with WWE in the past year) are the most likely from that list.

Scott Steiner (Big Poppa Pump shorts), a proper Rick Steiner that isn’t ripped, the Giant, Curt Hennig (nWo - black and white singlet), Booker T when he was world champ, Stevie Ray (nWo), Billy Kidman, Konnan, Raven, Saturn, Kanyon, screamin Norman Smiley with Hockey jersey accessories and yellow tights underneath, Warrior (Nitro debut, and Fall Brawl 98), the Disciple, Meng, Wrath (purple and black attire), Scott Norton, DDP in black jeans with a serious face, Buff Bagwell, Shane Douglas, The Wall, Vampiro, Wolfpac Sting that isn’t so small, (face) Lex Luger in the wolfpac in black jeans, just to name a few off the top of my head. I guess my concern with this line is that I doubt I'll need/want all of them. Don't need any more Stone Colds, Undertakers, or Triple H's.... I'm going to want the "special moment" figures like Debut Nash, Debut Hall, probably Hogan.... I guess I'd want the BAF Luger, so I'll need to buy them all.... I really hope they make an Attitude Era Mr. McMahon in this line. We sorely need an updated Vince McMahon.

I just know it's going to be difficult to find certain figures (if not ALL the figures) given Walmart's poor distribution practices.

So I'm trying not to get too excited about this line, but I'm sure I'll be driving all over the place searching for them just like every other Walmart line.

I have zero hope for this line until I see it appear at a Canadian Walmart. If it ends up being like the Ruthless Aggression, Flashback or Hall of Champions lines and stays within the US only, then the like may as well not even exist to me.

As someone who has been collecting Mattel since day one, it's incredibly frustrating that they still do retail exclusive lines like this because it does nothing for anyone outside of the US.

This line is gonna be a crap show like every other Walmart line, being a mainly attitude era one won't change that. That being said, the thing I care about the most is the potential New Gen stuff like Fake Diesel and my hope is that they are the less sought after figures in the sets so they get left on pegs (if they even show up) or are cheap online. At this point I think your just gotta come to terms with how much you really want a Walmart exclusive and is it enough to just buy it online, or is it not important and you are fine probably never seeing it. It shouldn't be that way, but it is.

I'm really looking forward to this line but have set my expectations very low to ease the disappointment when it turns out to be mostly repaints of the same guys we've already had over and over. It'll be like the RA line with the main players that have been done to death and a few minor surprises sprinkled in. I get mattel can only make who they have under contract and I'd be shocked if we got any of the lower/mid card talent in this line that has been discussed in this thread. I would absolutely love any and all wcw guys that would be FTITL but i just don't see it happening. Would also love a last nitro shane! I hope I'm wrong but i really think this line will be the same dribble that mattel is known for churning out :/
