Hey folks,
Always remember there was a big community into graphic novels/comics (whatever the term is) and was wondering where to start. I never grew up in the comic book world or with friends/siblings into it, but I am looking for some different things to read and watch. I've always enjoyed the dichotomy of a regular person by day, hero by night, and also generally interested in something new.
What would you recommend for someone looking to get into this world? Classics? Are there other graphic novels or series that are worth reading beyond the superhero-type characters?
I'm sure this is a loaded topic but look forward to some suggestions!

I'd start with the classics (Batman, Spiderman, Thor, etc.). I used to spend hours in a Barnes & Noble reading the 1,000 page condensed novels. Great way to spend a rainy day.

My favorite is Batman: The Long Halloween. It’s followed by Dark Victory which I also really enjoy.
Outside the popular superhero stuff a bet is to google the greatest graphic novels of all time and you’ll end up with a really good listen. Usually anything by Alan Moore is great.

I haven't read it beyond the first issue that didn't grab me, but Something Is Killing The Children gets huge props in the reviews department. It's a current non-superhero comic.
As far as supers go, Superman For All Seasons, All-Star Superman, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: The Long Halloween, The Killing Joke, Batman: Hush, Watchmen. So many good ones but those are off the top of my head.

If you like anti-heroes, Lobo is good for a laugh at times.
If you like old Westerns with a bit of supernatural, Jonah Hex is for you.
