I just received a Raw Ultimate Edition Ring from Ringside. I haven't owned a ring since the Jakks BCA Hardcore ring from over 20 years ago, and the new one is very nice. It looks great, and the scale is incredible. I do question some of the engineering choices though, and I have some suggestions for improving:
1. The Raw Is War aprons that wrap around the side are four separate fabric pieces. They only attach by an elastic strap on top that loops around the smooth ring post. This causes them to rise above the actual ring surface, which looks awkward. In my opinion, they should have added an indent into the ring posts to hold the aprons in place.
2. The tension that the ropes create brings the ring posts closer together at the top, causing the ring to sit unevenly on flat surfaces. This could have been easily fixed by having some plastic pieces that brace the bottom parts of the ring posts together so that equal tension is holding the top and bottom of the posts. This would allow the ring to sit flat on a surface.
3. If these two fixes were done, they could then add an elastic loop to the bottom of the Raw Is War aprons and mold a lip into the bottom of the ring posts to hold them in place. The ring would then sit flat on a flat surface, without the aprons bowing outwards and sitting awkwardly above the canvas surface.
I think these would be very simple fixes. I also never owned any of the Jakks real scale RA rings, or any of Mattel's previous offerings. So I'm not sure if this is a precedent, but welcome any suggestions on improving an otherwise nice design.
