Just a fun one to ask out there, how many of you been chosen to do Jury Duty? I got a letter the other day; however due to my employment I may not be selected due to the bias of the nature of my work. Kinda am shocked I got selected, so many people go there whole life without being selected.

I had to go but wound up getting dismissed with a bunch of other people. I think they said it was because there weren’t enough trials scheduled or something. I still had to wait around for hours before they told us that.

Yeah, I got picked for a jury about 25 years ago when I lived in Idaho.
The case was for a guy that had orchestrated this operation to rob a guy. He recruited a girl to seduce a drunk guy in a bar, then she would offer to take the mark back home to her place, drive him to a dark alley somewhere where the guy on trial would rob him.
The guy on trial started off with his lawyer asking him "How did you start off the day of these events?" to which he responded "I had been to church with my mother, and..." We knew that he and his lawyer were full of crap.
The gal that he had recruited was already in jail due to her role, but had turned on him (I would assume to receive a lighter sentence).
Anyway, we deliberated for less than an hour before returning a guilty verdict. Several witnesses to the attempted robbery and too many holes in his story that didn't add up.
After the trial, the judge had come and talked to us on the jury, and let us know this was actually the guy's third conviction of doing things along these lines.
I've been called in for jury duty several times since moving to Washington 20 years ago, but not selected as of yet.

I have been called on twice. The first was for the Grand Jury where you listen to the prosecution case and witnesses on various cases for two weeks and decide if the case is strong enough for a conviction, in which case an indictment is issued. It was interesting. the second time, it was regular court and you had to show up every day to see if you were selected for a particular case. I did not get selected, I was like 8th alternate on the list.

My wife just got paperwork like 2 weeks ago. I told it's ridiculously easy to get dismissed day 1.

My wife just got paperwork like 2 weeks ago. I told it's ridiculously easy to get dismissed day 1. Pretty much. They don't make you prove anything so all you have to say is you have an injury and can't sit for long periods of time or you're starting a new job and can't serve. Every time the judge would just dismiss them no questions asked.

I've been called a few times to do it, but I'm always disqualified on medical grounds before I'm chosen.

Many times. Usually get dismissed at lunch, but, the last time I made it all the way into the courtroom and wasn't picked out of the ones that were in there.

Gotten a county notice thrice since I've been eligible, about 17 years. Chosen to sit for a grand jury my first time, dismissed at random the second, turned away at the door last year due to lack of any cases.

I can’t even count how many. I don’t think 10 but something close. 7 or 8 different courts too. I usually would get dismissed pretty quick the first few times. Once or twice sent to lunch and then dismissed after that. One time I had to get myself thrown out because they were gonna pick me for some big case. The judge told me off for being uncooperative because I said I would always believe a police officers testimony because I have many relationships with people in law enforcement. I had an infant and nobody to look after him (which was true, but apparently judge told me was not a proper excuse). It’s been over 10 years since last time though. Hopefully I never get called again. Doing the math now, that was like 8 or 9 times in a 16 year stretch
