Has anyone attempted to replace their Mattel belt plates with the old Jakks plates? Would be curious to see how the Jakks plated hold up on the rubber material Mattel used for the strap. Goes without saying, the texturing on Jakks plated exceeds the smoother painted-on look on the Mattel.

I don't think I've seen anyone try this. I am curious though as to which Championship Title Belt that Jakks made do you think is better than what Mattel made. I think Mattel is better across the board, but that's more due to the paint.

I've done this for a World Heavyweight Championship for my King Booker. I, like most people also think the Jakks plates are far better than Mattel's, so i gave the swap a go a few years ago with Jakks Big Gold plates, on a Mattel NWO/Big Gold strap. In true Jakks fashion, the plates are a bit bigger than the strap, but it still works with some minor adjusting (I also probably did an average job of it). On the strap, you'll need to cut a bit off so the plates can hook on, since Jakks & Mattel used different styles. Excuse the average pics, took them real quick, and the title is kind of stuck in that shape now from sitting in the same pose for so long.
