I was looking around at my book collection, and thinking. Throughout time, there have been times where I’ve re-bought a book because the copy of whatever I had had a fairly small blemish, but other times where I’ve kept a book forever that had some decent damage. One I have right now has a fair bit of coffee stains and damage to various areas, but ultimately every page is still readable.
Are you strict on things you collect, as far as how pristine of condition they must be in? Or do you let things go for quite some time before you look into replacement?
My figures, for example, have taken some damage. I have a lot with missing hands and arms. I always say I’m gonna buy a replacement Owens, Goldberg, Lashley, etc., but so far I’m yet to.

I have quite a large martial arts book collection. Once I took one of them to work, and I didn’t want to damage the cover protector, so, I took it off. I took the book to work and freaking olives/vinegar leaked onto the real cover!! It would have wiped straight off the protector!! The book is $50+ and whilst I do know it’s been stained, I try to forget. Recently a good friend of mine moved to another state and gave me quite a few BJJ/MMA/NHB books, which have a lot of corner damage, creases, but they’re older books now and not so cheap. I value them. I’m just hoping my boys like the martial arts as much as I do.
Eye glasses get broken doing martial arts. I am forever taking them off, I put them somewhere without thinking, someone will stand on them, sit on them.. Whilst I am always needing new pairs, I still try to get the existing pairs fixed.

I have bought so many used things over the years, that small damage doesn't bother me badly, though I prefer as pristine as possible. Too, when most things break, I try to repair before replacing.

Yes. In some cases I can just ignore it but for the most part, I'll get it replaced.
My two year old LG 70' TV has a barely visible line that goes about a third of the way across the screen. But I know its there and I can't un-see it now so I want to now get a new TV.
Another example is that my Elite 8 Edge (or whatever series he had the red attire with the head that looked like the Smile movie poster) had a twisted crotch joint so the leg stuck out past the waistline slightly. Despite only displaying my figures, it annoyed me enough to buy a new one.

I'm that "hang on to the very dying minute" guy when it comes to things like earphones and plugs being on their last legs, but if I don't need to replace it until they're in the bin then I won't.
When it comes to my figure collection, because I collect older figures if it's fine by me then I'm happy. Also, the figure's I do buy in box are usually expensive and rare so I ain't gonna run through all 100 1/100 figures till I find one I like, if you get me. As long as it's fine when I get it it doesn't bother me. Same goes if it's a cheaper figure, once it's in my possession and I like it then I'm not nit picky over dings/creases or whatever.

I'm gonna go in the other direction here lol. When building my garage gym, outside of my weightlifting bar, which I was very specific on and bought brand new, I went for the oldiest, rustiest plates and crap I could find. Reminded me of my old dungeon gym I used to train at. House we own is built in 1928, and almost every piece of furniture is second hand. I loved used stuff.

I just bought a Hot Wheels BMW 507 and there's a paint chip on the back of it. It was like that when I got it. It also was the last one that Walmart had. Sometimes I replace cars that don't roll straight

No. I don’t replace unless it’s broken and I absolutely need another
