People dropping $75+ on those Major Bros thinking they are gonna be better than the last ones are probably second guessing themselves now.

Extremely interested to hear Major pod rip this apart. I really hope they don’t go soft on super7 here. They were fairly open about how bad the first Good Brothers set was - seems as long as it's not their figures/figures they're in a set with, they'll do it. Think this just goes to show the value of having the licensor personally involved with the figures. - MWFP guys were reviewing/approving designs, so theirs have (eventually) turned out well
- The Good Brothers were supposedly super hands-off with their first set, hence they suck
- You'd imagine Andre's estate don't really care whether the likeness is good or not, as they hand that license out to anyone who asks (I think there'll be 3-4 different companies with Andre figures on the market at a roughly similar time)

There’s the simple fact super 7 can’t do peoples faces
Mutants, monsters, characters from cartoons, face paint, masks etc all turn out better than a ‘naked’ face sculpt from them without factoring or a mask

This is vile. Their wrestling figures all seem to kinda suck, but their other stuff mainly looks great. I've never actually bought anything from them though.

Allow me to let you all in on a little secret, and I mentioned this in another thread:
Brian Flynn does not care. He has your money already in their Made to Order modelization. So there is no immediate incentive to give you what you expect. It's false advertising, but he's banking on no one bringing a case against him. They also try to protect themselves with "Final Product May Vary". He fully believes "Eff you, you'll buy it. Who else is making this right now?", especially when it comes to many of the other properties.
But here's the rub--he does not give two sh*ts about Ultimates. He's not an action figure guy. He's into skateboards, and records, and the little cruddy Kaiju knick knacks. This venture is just a means to an end for him.
I'm not speculating here, I mean it wholeheartedly. Saying it with my chest here. I know how hard the toy industry can be. I know all the trials and tribulations and hiccups that go along with it. I will defend people working in it all day long, tooth and nail, because there are great people in it, genuinely trying to give you the best product available. People who lose literal sleep over it.
Brian Flynn directly and purposefully gives the bare effort when it comes to the Ultimates line. Any good done is in SPITE of his direction. Sorry to say.

Why would I share that with anyone here, and possibly risk getting someone into trouble? I share what I know and hear from people in the know, and I will never sell them down the river, so I don't know why you people continue to ask. And that is both because that's a trust I don't want to break, because 1) then I don't GET the interesting tidbits, and 2) I lose a friend. Not worth it to me to prove to any of you what I'm sharing. Either believe me or don't, neither matter much to me. My goal is to simply share so others might have an informed decision. Do with the information as you will.

I don''t buy this "doesn't care" argument. If you keep producing crapfigures, people will not pre-prder the next time, so he won't have your money and the business model won't work.

That's fine. You don't have to buy it. But again, I've heard it first hand that it's a "Where else are they going to get it?" mentality. Think about it. Who else is doing toon accurate GI Joe? Silverhawks? Thundercats? Playmates inspired Ninja Turtles? He knows this and he has no incentive to improve upon it because he knows people will buy it based off of the property alone. Listen, he is a nice guy. I've spoken to him quite often, and I would never say that he is a bad person. In fact, as a person, he is a complete sweetheart. A family man, with a trans child-- he is genuinely just a good man. But as a businessman, he is quickly making enemies, and his reasoning for the choices he makes is duplicitous, at best. There are smaller companies than his putting out cheaper costing items and giving you double the quality. Premium DNA, for example. Storm Collectibles, for example. He is charging you premium prices and giving you less than half of the effort, because he knows you'll pay for it.

Oh wow, I’m having a hard time believing that’s a finished product. It looks so terrible and worse than most bootleg figures. I wonder if it’s a joke of some kind?

Heads are extra brutal, even for them. Is this an Andre people wanted from the onset? It seems like such a plain concept. I get grabbing a $10 Mattel Basic of this look, but seems like an odd thing to want as like a highly articulated look if you're not just a deep Andre super fan. Mattel is about to release an Ultimate of him that looks to be maybe the best Andre figure of all time for $35. Casual Andre fan, that's the one I want. Also, all the the other S7 wrestling figures are modern. So I would have zero interest in adding a S7 figure that doesn't fit in their own line, let alone with anything else we have from outside S7.

If anyone is curious, in one of his recent youtube videos, Kyle Peterson does a side by side comparison between this S7 Andre and the recent Mattel basic. He even does a headswap.

$10 basic is better than a $50 ultimate hands down. Personally i upgraded my elite with the basic head and boots and it was still cheaper than this ultimate. I hope super7 acknowledges and apologizes for this. If not just stop making wrestling figures!
